  1. Big congrats to you! How long did it take, and do you feel like you can keep it up to maintain (maybe 6:1) ?

It took me 18 days to get from 152 to 145. Yes, I will be playing with 5:2 or 6:1 to maintain as needed.

For anyone considering 5:2, it worked for me...why not give it a go?

  2. Thank you 5:2! Hit my weight goal this morning!!!!! Damn I didn't know it would feel so wonderful....like I'm eight years old and it's Christmas Eve!

So appreciate everyone who took the time to post information here....the 5:2 enabled me to hit the mark!

  3. To my fellow OCC sisters in weight loss.....I hit my weight loss goal this morning!!!!!

I'm not able to communicate the appreciation I have for each of you sharing your struggles/concerns/victories on this forum. On the days when I am not at my best, simply reading your posts helps me get my mind right again. Thank you thank you for your funny stories and encouragement.

It's so motivating to watch each of you achieve your goals, whip your demons, and unleash your inner "skinny-bitch".

Cheers to you all and THANK YOU for just being here.

  4. B2B - the whole body image problem is something that will be with me for awhile. When I was 237, I never "felt" fat. It was always shocking when clothes didn't fit or I saw myself in pictures. So now that I weigh 147, I don't "feel" thin. And I am shocked I am a size 6 and shocked I look so little in photos.

Since this is such a mental thing for me, I don't know if I need counseling or just time to wrap my head around the changes. As an example, my son will be 9 next Saturday and asked for a pool party. So I was dreading the thought of having to put on a bathing suit to help our 5 year old swim in the pool....but then I remembered, "I am not fat anymore!" Just stuff like that all the time. Hard to re-program the self-talk I guess.

All I will say is that I like the current shock of being smaller a lot more than being fat!

KJUNEAU - thanks! You will get to goal. I am sure you are already seeing big changes. Do you have any pics? They are so motivating to see!

I love the support from this site!  You ladies ROCK!  I am not sure I have ever had "online besties" before?!

  5. OK - here are the pics....I am TWO STINKING POUNDS from my personal goal weight of 145....blew past surgeons goal a few months ago.  The last pounds are definitely the most difficult to lose!

Started at 237.6 lbs, size 18W (tight) pants, 2XL shirts.  Today, 147.1 lbs, size 6 jeans, size medium shirts.  Dr. Ortiz and OCC staff gave me the small tummy, but I made the diet and exercise choices to get me where I am today.   As the pics show, I LITERALLY lost my a$$ in 2013...lol!  It's very exciting for me to follow those who have had surgery to see the changes.

  6. Amie - I hear what you are saying. When I told my parents I was going to Mexico for VSG surgery they freaked out. And I am 42 years old!

"You will go there and they will harvest all your internal organs and leave you for dead...don't think they have any other interest in you than making money...what did I do wrong that you would resort to this...have you even TRIED to lose weight on your own....what does your husband say about this?" Blah blah blah....

Fast forward 11 months later, I've lost almost 90 lbs and my mother has contacted my surgeon in Mexico to see if he would perform surgery on her! No joke.

I think our parents want the best for us and are terrified of the "unknown". Bottom line, if I could have done this for myself at 22, wow....I would have had a different life.

You know what is best for you. Love and listen to your parents, but form your own opinion and blaze your own trail. Surgery in Mexico doesn't cost THAT much. A part time job coupled with massive selling of unused personal property should get you the funds by summer. Good luck!

  7. DANG - I would have LOVED to lose 33 lbs in 3 months! Well done!

Don't let yourself believe you are losing slow...or fast...take satisfaction in the fact that you are losing by following the rules. Keep doing what you know you need to do and you will get there. Celebrate your weight loss journey....the frustration....stalls....embarrassments...insults....poo stories....whatever! All the ups/downs are what make the experience your own. You are doing great!

  8. I've been needing something to break through this stall....sounds like I have found it! Read about it yesterday and am currently on my first fasting day today! Big goals for 2014.....will be sure to share how it goes. Thanks for all the great information!

  9. Ate what I wanted over the last two days and am up 1.7 lbs (which I am guessing is Water weight - thank you salty pizza) but I know it will come off quickly. What has me excited is the STRENGTH I have gained in December! Not only am I going to hit my goal of 22 days of high intensity interval training this month, I also gained some upper body strength! Very excited about hitting my goal and seeing a non-scale change.
