  1. "only 2 sizes" is WONDERFUL and right on target. Every 20 pounds is one dress size...so you're progress is right where it should be :-)

My weight is perfectly proportioned all over my body. The plus side of this (see what I did there?) is that at 264 pounds, I could wear a comfortable size 20 at 5'3". The downside is that after 40 pounds lost, because I am losing it allllll over, I have "only" shrunk 2 sizes (and the 16Ws are snug, something I don't love the look of) and only one person who didn't know about this surgery has commented on my progress.

  2. Hi everyone' date=' I'm going to be getting Kaiser insurance very soon and am in the redlands area, so reading such amazing reviews is awesome. Can I ask what the options program is and if it is required? TIA

    [/quote']

Options is a 12 week class that is mandatory. It teaches you about every aspect of the surgery. The information presented is imperative! !!

  3. Yay!! I found some locals! I am in my 4th week in options in Fontana (2nd time around' date=' I graduated in 9/2011 but decided not to go through with the surgery and now I'm back, go figure). They are still saying that we are going to be with either Fedorka or Chin but they are still out of St bernardines for now. Any regrets for anyone?? I am excited and terrified![/quote']

No regrets! I was sleeved 11/14/12 with dr. Fedorka. My starting weight was 337. I lost 20lbs during the 12 weeks of options. I'm down a total of 112 lbs and its been a Little over 6 months! Take the info in options very seriously. Stick to the guidelines post op. I'm so grateful for dr. Fedorka and the entire bariatrics team at kaiser fontana

  4. Wow! 110lbs in 6 months? What does your diet and excersise regimen consist of? That is definitely motivating. Thanks.

Not to make it sound so simple...but I've been following the guidelines they gave in the options program to a t. I lost 20 pre op while going through options. I work out 5 days a week. I'm doing my first 5k next friday. The most important thing for me is to log EVERYTHING and get in my Protein requirements. If you follow what you learned ...you'll be fine. Just remember its a total lifestyle change.

  5. I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Fedorka and they just called me and told me who i had the appoinment with... I didn't choose. I guess it all depends on who has open surgery dates when you are ready. I know Chin & Fedorka work hand in hand together though. I have heard so many great things about Fedorka so i am happy.

Hey T' date=' I didn't know they were opening in May, maybe i might be having it done in Fontana then....alot closer to home.[/quote']

Fedorka is great. Very straight forward...not a man of many words. My surgery and recovery went flawlessly. I'm 6 months out down 110. His staff is wonderful and my follow ups have been very good. You are definitely in good hands

  6. That is awesome!!! Keep up the great work! What's your typical day like with exercise and food?

I eat 600 calories a day and work out 5 days a week for an hour (30 min cardio 30 min strength training) I get at least 60 gr of Protein and 64 oz of Water. I steer clear of refined sugars and simple carbs. I've been doing the couch to 5 k running program and ill be running my first 5k next month.

  7. Also...everyone should keep in mind that some days will just not be YOUR day. In running you're going to have good days and bad days. The good days feel like you could run forever. The bad days feel like you have concrete blocks on your feet. That's just the way it goes. I've talked to some very experienced runners who still experience this and none of them can really explain why it happens sometimes. I've had days where I was exhausted from work' date=' but then had a great run. Other days where I was fully rested, hydrated and fueled...and everything should have been perfect, and still felt like crap. It's the nature of the beast. But as I go on, the bad days get fewer and fewer....that's progress.[/quote']

So true! Today I got to the gym alot later than usual and did not feel up to the run...but I FINALLY completed week 6 day 2. It took a couple weeks but tonight I felt like "I could run forever" I was soooooooo happy :-)

  8. Help! For some reason I ca not get pass week 6 say 2. It's a mile jog (or 10 min) the walk three min...then repeat the mile jog. I don't know why's body feels like its giving out on me during the second 10 min jog. I've been on week six day 2 for over 2 weeks. The irony is that part of week 5 routine was a 20 min jog and I was able to complete it after a couple tries. I tried taking an energy gel , but that didn't work. I usually go the gym right after work(4 pm) . The last meal I've eaten would be lunch (11:30 am) . Should I eat/drink something before the jog?? If so what? And how far ahead?

  9. Hey fellow sleevers! I'm doing great!!!

    SW:337

    CW:247

90 lbs gone forever!!!! 10 lbs from 100 lb loss. I've been training for my first 5k in June . I work out 6 days a week and I'm still consuming no more than 600 calories. I've had ZERO complications and I'm so thankful for this surgery . Went from size 26/28 now in a 14/16. I'm

6ft tall so my "goal weight" is higher compared to others (190)
