  1. I checked with doctor. I take a Zyrtec everynight. When sick I take Zytec-D twice a day. They also said Mucinex is safe. Also Afrin Menthol is awsome and opens your nose right up. Good luck.
  2. They ordered me a capsule. I open it up and empty in into my mouth a swish it down with water. Pharmacist said just don't chew or crush any beads. I was also told to take 1st thing in the morning 30 minutes before I do anything so it can work its magic. You can also empty into apple sauce if u are further along.

    Crystal light alternatives?

I just bought these plastic balls from Amazon. You fill with things like lemons and cucumbers or fruit. Close up. Drop in a pitcher of water next day water is naturally infused with you favorite flavors. Infusion balls are $5.99. Then fill your own to go water bottles. Saves a ton of money too. Spas always serve freshly infused waters also.

    Fiber ~ need ideas

Quest protein bars have 20 grams of protein and 17 grams of fiber and 2 net carbs. Cant wait till I am at that stage. In the mean time I just bought the Wal-Mart equivalent to benefiber and will start adding to protein drinks.

    Any March Sleevers?

One week post op and I am down 12 pounds.
  10. My husband knows the full truth. My daughters and reast of my family just think I had the hiatal hrrnia repaired. I told some close friends the truth. My skinny friends have been very supportive. My friends who had wls are also very supportive. I have one friend where we have talked about our weight since high school and we are now 43. She is a nurse and has been the most critical including calling me up the night before surgery and telling me not to get it. Then she admitted to being a lityle jealous. She was 210 lost 60 pounds on her own and gained back 30. But kept off that othrr 30 for two years. She called to see how I was doing a few days after surgery and was giving me a hard time about the post opt diet and that it isn't enough and what about fat soluable vitamins. I am sure a lot stems from jealousy. ... but we have been friends since 5 th grade and I did not excpect the extreeme negativity. Because she also struggles with weight I really thought she would be my biggest supporter. Instead my size 0 and 2 friends are and they cant wait to walk with me and have me on their 5k teams for local races. I am looking forward to it!

    Any March Sleevers?

Good luck to everyone having surgery on the 12th. I have to be at the hospital at 7:00 am and surgery is at 9:00 am. I am excited! !! Not nervous about the procedure at all. Just a little scared about the gas pain and nausea everyone is experiencing but it will be over soon enough.
  13. I have vlothing in my closet spanning from a size 10 to a size 16. I cant wait to start going back down! I will be packing up each size and donating them as they become too big. Looking forward to cleaning out and organizing my closet! Only thing I will need to buy for now is a couple of belts.
  14. I totally feel for all of you having to do weeks of a liquid pre-op diet. I don't think I could do it. I am panicked about having to do it post op but then it won't be a choice. I will just have to do it. I have all my protein pwders and vitamins all ready to go. I cant even bring myself to taste one of the drinks. I am also enjoying having lunch with all of my friends every day this week. I am being good too. I have lost 16 pounds since January 10th and making good choices every day. The doctor called today and asked my weight to make sure I lost enough and maintaining it. I was 223 in January and 207 today. Surgery is on Tuesday. I don't even have a liquid diet on Monday. Just no eating or drinking after midnight. So freaking excited. So glad to read mosy people sleeved in Feb and March are doing well. Really makes me feel better about my decision!

    pcp appointment

My PCP thinks I can do it on my own and is not in support of my surgery. I just saw her two weeks ago for a cough and didn't even tell her I was getting it on March 12th. I will tell her afterwards. My GYN wrote the letter for the surgeon stating she knows I am getting it and is in support. My PCP gives great care and advise but is a tough cookie. Cant wait to see her face after I tell her I had it done. She will be doing a lot of head shaking and deep sighing.

    Food mourning

You sound just like me. I rarely eat before 2 but then stay up until 1 or 2:00am every day. I find it is my productive time when everyone is sleeping and the phones aren't ringing. But I get hungry again and eat. I have been sick for over a week and going to bed early and lost 7 pounds without changing anything.
  17. Mine said only 20% of people have a problem with theirs after surgery so they don't remove until necessary. He also doesn't prescribe preventive medicine for it either.

    Hiatal Hernia?

No. I have a large hernia and the surgeon plans to fix it during surgery. It will just add time to the procedure.

    GOING ON MINI VACATION

My doctor said just make sure you get up and walk every hour to prevent blood clots.

    Any March Sleevers?

I am still completely unsure about this surgery. My BMI is or was 37. I am 42 will be 43 in April. When I started this is was 223 which was my highest weight. And for the past 10 years I haven't gotten below 200. I am 5'5". Today I weigh 208. I would like to weigh 135 and don't think I will ever get there without the surgery. I do have a large hiatial hernia which is also going to be repaired. The main co-morbidity that I have that qualified me for the surgery was sleep apnea which I just found in January and even though I got the cpap, haven't slept with it yet. I have three friends who had the sleeve and are one to two years out and would do it again in a heart beat. I am just petrified of developing another problem as a result of the surgery. My husband is supportive but scared too. I don't have a preop diet since my bmi is low. Protein shakes make me gag and I am hoping the crystal light with unflavored protein powder will be tolerable. No matter what doctor still wants to fix hernia since it is so large and he says why not lose some weight in the process. I am having it done on March 12th.....that is if I don't chicken out.

    Well, it's time

They told me today you can shower 48 hours after surgery.
  22. Thanks for explaining. I never heard my doctor talk about a bougie and I don't remember reading about one either.
  23. What are you talking about?

    Any Pennsylvania Sleevers?

I live in Bethlehem and will have surgery on March 12th with Dr. ElChar at St. Lukes. have my team meeting class this thursday as well as apt with anesthesiologist and the final apt with the surgeon. Scared stiff! !
  25. I am having major anxiety about my decision. My surgery date is March 12th. I cant stop reading and looking for information to help make the decision easier. I am worried about long term effects of the surgery. I don't want to end up with any new or worse problems. I already have low vitamin D and iorn and am terrible abouy taking those supplements regularly and after surgery will have to take many more on a regular basis. My hair has thinned over yhe years and cant afford to get any thinner. I can already see my scalp now. I have tried and failed at evety diet and wouldn't be planning wls if I wasn't ready to make a lifelong change. I just cant stop worrying about the long term effects of the surgery itself and there isn't a lot of data on the sleeve since it is pretty new. Anyone else worried?
