  1. Progress Report Time! Just wanted to check in with all the Jan 21st sleevers (or anyone around that time) and see how everyone is doing. I'm not wanting to compare with others (I realize everyone is different); I'm just curious. I'm satisfied with my progress however slow or fast it may be.

    Age: 28 Ht: 5'2"

    Start of Journey (8/1/12): 276lbs

    Surgery Date (1/21/13): 243lbs

    Current (6/3/13): 200lbs

  2. Congrats on your life changing decision! I'm so glad that I made it! I have the energy I need to keep up with my 6 & 4 year old boys and I feel great. I was sleeved 1/21/13 and I am halfway to my goal, it is so exciting! My advice is to start exercising as soon as possible! Take advantage of the first 3 to 6 months, that is when people lose the most of their excess weight (from what I've read). I for one am trying to get into good habits now, so when the weight loss slows down I will not have to try to start working out. I am training for my first 5K, me the chubby girl training for a 5K...it is all so exciting!

  3. First of all... I have to say Thank you ladies !! I am 40, female, 5' 1 and a 1/2 inches and I currently weigh 235lbs. Starting weight was 265 lbs. I was sleeved Jan 21st, 2013. I went through my paperwork and all it says is that I should aim for 80 grams of Protein, but it doesn't say how long after surgery to aim for this or how to get it all in. I am eating regular foods. Making good choices of course. Those damn goldfish....I'm addicted to them !!! lol I have tried edamame (roasted) there ok...nice and crunchy, I'm not a huge fan but I can snack on them. I am such a snacker...always have been. I would much rather snack all day and not eat a single sit down meal...I'm trying to change my habits but it's tough for sure. I get so busy at work that I don't get alot of time to even leave my desk... convenience of goldfish again... I am drinking as much as I can...I guess because of my snacking I can't be drinking 1/2 before or 1 hour after... hmmm. Thank you so much for taking time to reply...I am grateful as I am going through this all alone here. Don't have any family or friends to confide in.... this site is great but it would be nice to be able to have someone local to support me and visa versa.

Good luck to you rickyswife, all I can say is walk walk walk !!

Hi CanadianChick, I also had surgery on 1/21/13, I am 5'1.5" (but I always round up to 5'2"). I am currently at 210, started at 276 (243 on day of surgery). My NUT said to strive to get in 60-80g of Protein daily...which is hard for me to do with just food, but easy if I add a Protein Drink some where in my day (usually powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavor while at work). I stopped keeping up with all the protein soon after surgery, because I just couldn't stand it anymore. Now that it has been awhile, it is easier to start getting it back in. I don't know about anyone else, but it just came to a point when I could not bring my self to drink another protein drink...hopefully I can do better this time!

  4. I had a similar situation, I didn't eat very many calories in a day (1,500 on a high day). My NUT actually had me eating more calories prior to surgery; the problem was not getting in nearly enough Protein. Since I increased my protein intake I started to loose (still very slowly, but loss none the less). I started the program this past August weight 276, and on my surgery date (1/21/13) I weighed 243. So maybe try increasing your protein intake? Just my thoughts...you may have already tried, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Hope you figure it out!!

  5. Feeling good today. Yesterday was tougher because my kids have finally shared their cold with me. I feel tired at times which I attribute to the lack of activity and the lack of calories. My goals are to get out of the house today... walk the neighborhood or just do some errands with the family. It is 20F outside, so it will be a cold walk! Pain is really minimal at this point but I still take a percocet at night with the hope that it helps me sleep sounder. The discomforts are shoulder (gas) and grumbling/tightness in my new stomach. All tolerable. I'm still amazed how quickly the body can heal.

I didn't have a pre-op diet either but started a liquid diet last Saturday. I'm down 25 in 1 week. Wow! I just hope the majority of that is not muscle mass.

Yeah, I have caught my kids stomach bug too...UGH! I am feeling pretty crappy, but hopefully it will turnaround quickly. I'm just trying to focus on getting all my liquids in. I'm hoping to get some more energy soon; having a stomach bug on top of surgery is not the best way to go.

  6. I'm 5'2" (technically 5'1.5" but who's counting), when I started the program in August I weighed 276, I had surgery Monday (Jan 21st) weighing 243, and I just weighed in at 236. There may be a discrepancy between the hospital scale and my home scale, so we'll see what the official numbers say on the 29th when I go in for my check up. I'm setting my goal at a healthy BMI weight of 136, so we'll so how it goes.
