If I had to go back and make the decision again.
It would be a yes. For most of us, me included
This is our last hope at a relatively happy and healthy life.. It's not easy and not a quick fix. But it's an effective tool. A tool that needs to be entered into with a thoughtful mind and the proper information.. As not to have those regrets.

It stands for couch to 5 kilometers (3 miles)
It's a running program where you build up weekly to being able to run.
I'm still on week one (three weeks later)
It's 30 minute of waking and running. The first week you walk for a minute and a half then run for 60 seconds then walk again and so on.
It's and app. And there is a thread here where a bunch of us are doing it.

I f**king hate exercising! And I get pissed when I read people that never exercise losing tremendous amounts of weight! (Sorry)
That being said... I exercise. I am doing this to hopefully become a healthier person. And movement is part of that. At the moment I walk and am doing C25K and I feel better after doing it.
"Butterthebean" called someone the other day a "skinny fat person"
And I think that's very fitting. I'm sure we've all known someone like that, skinny but out of shape?

    Sleeve Gastrectomy FAQ's
    Can the staples tear out?
No. Once you have recovered from the surgery, your body's own scar tissue heals the stomach tissue together, just as your skin stays healed long after sutures or staples are removed. Staples are made of titanium. You can have an MRI scan, and you can go through the detectors at the airport without any problems.
AND TO THIS I SAY I HAVE TITANIUM RODS IN MY HIP FOR OVER 30 YEARS... And I'm still here
    Video of the staples <a data-ipb='nomediaparse' href='http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7MRWaAlaJF8&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7MRWaAlaJF8'>http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7MRWaAlaJF8&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7MRWaAlaJF8</a>
What are the advantages of the operation over gastric bypass?
There is no rerouting of the intestines, and no new connections need to be made. This makes it safer, easier, and faster to perform. The lack of rerouting eliminates the late risk of bowel obstruction from internal hernia that comes with the gastric bypass operation. Finally, the lack of rerouting also reduces the risk of Vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
What are the disadvantages as compared to gastric bypass?
The main disadvantage is that we don't have long-term data to document that weight loss will be maintained. The operation is not reversible, in that part of the stomach is removed and thrown away. It can never be replaced. (On the other hand, there should be no reason to want to put it back).
What are the advantages of the sleeve over the gastric band?
With the sleeve there is no foreign body to break, slip, or erode. There is nothing to be adjusted. Reoperation rate for these complications is therefore eliminated. Weight loss is faster and more reliable with the sleeve. The feeling of fullness that you get from the sleeve is much more satisfying than the feeling of obstruction or discomfort that you get with the gastric band. Few patients vomit after the sleeve, while many patients continue to have vomiting episodes long after they have their gastric bands placed.
What are the disadvantages as compared to the gastric band?
The band is reversible; the sleeve is not. Unfortunately this turns out not to be much of an advantage of the band, as the only reason to remove a band is for complications.
    Is removing the stomach safe?
This type of stomach removal has been performed with the Duodenal Switch procedure since the mid-1980s. It does involve stapling, just like gastric bypass, and has similar risks.
How much weight will I lose?
This is obviously a key question. Unfortunately, there is no long term data to give us a good answer. Preliminary data suggests that weight loss may be similar to that attained with Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.

Yes misty and Susan usually I would urge people to read these forums for information. But after reading the amount of misinformation here in this thread alone? Not to mention several others, I would urge a person researching WLS look at independent sources for factual information.

I wouldn't trip about that! I was able to eat 1 egg and cheese the very first day I was allowed! I'm now 4 months and can eat more. If that freaks others out? Oh well... it's a nice normal amount and that's what we are supposed to do! I've seen the people say "oh my! that's to much"
"I only eat a bite and I'm stuffed for days"
    That's not me...
Now if you came here and said girl I can eat 1 whole layer cake then we would be talking problems!! But you are eating normal.

Mike Susan and I were talking about this a couple of weeks ago... On the vets forum and she posted some more about it on another thread... Of course the reasons of resetting your metabolism for US right now is weight loss but I think the theory is the same
This is what Susan said on the other thread let me know what you think....
    BY SUSAN;
I am four years out. For the first year, I lived on 800 calories a day. Then, I maxed out at around 1200 a day. For the past eight months, I have been battling with gaining and losing the same three pounds. I was so sick of it. I had no energy and generally just didn't feel too great. My fiancé is a nutritionist and a personal trainer. For two years he has been preaching to me that eating so few calories for the the first few months of the weight loss phase was one thing, but that it wasn't healthy to maintain that few calories long term. He kept insisting I needed to eat more in order to lose weight. Like another poster said, he told me I wasn't losing weight anymore because my metabolism was so incredibly messed up. My body had gotten used to the fact that I was starving it, so my metabolism slowed way down to compensate for it and my body started storing fat.
About six weeks ago I decided to give his method a try. We figured out my base TTDE based on my age, weight, height and activity level. Just for my body to do nothing but lie in bed all day and do nothing but breath, I would need to eat a baseline of 1950 calories a day! So, we moved forward to "reset" my metabolism. I now eat about every two hours. I don't eat junk, I eat high Protein, healthy foods. The first few weeks, I gained between one and two pounds per week. I was in panic mode. I was terrified of eating this way, I just knew I was going to end up fat again. But, I promised him I would try it his way and would give it eight weeks. He warned me that I would probably gain weight at first, he said my body was going to take all those extra calories and hold onto them, because it isn't used to my actually fueling it like I should. But he promised if I stuck with it, I would get past the gain stage, and my metabolism would pick up again. Well, I finally stopped gaining and was maintaining. Next, he dropped me to 1750 calories a day, and if I exercise, I would eat those calories back. Guess what, it is working! I am now back to losing one to two pounds a week again and couldn't be happier. I have more energy and feel better than I have in two years.
So, I do believe we need to keep our bodies fueled. I have done a lot of research on this in the past few weeks, along with finally listening to my own personal nutritionist/fiancé. I have a healthy Breakfast, then a couple hours later I will have a Protein Bar. I eat a healthy lunch. In the afternoon I snack on fruits, cheese, Protein Bars, nuts, beef Jerky, whatever strikes my fancy. I have a healthy dinner and, usually a snack about two hours before bedtime. My body has responded well to fueling it every few hours and I am a believer now. Just wish I would have listened to him two years ago!
