  1. Wisdom... Hmmmm... Just do it! No that's not right.. Let's see wisdom.... Today is my year anniversary of the sleeve. I am happy healthy and have hope for a future. I was close to death last year I felt it every time I climbed the stairs at my home. I called my pcp made an appointment and told her I need real help. She referred me to a great surgeon. From there I looked at all the surgeries and learned the sleeve was the right choice for me. And I haven't looked back. Its work, trust me you don't just sit back and let the weight drop off but it's a real solution to morbid obesity
  2. Cheri! You poor thing! Wow when it rains it pours. Please hang in there my friend. I'm hoping Alex is getting things fixed today. I know everyone is anxious to get things back to normal. I'm not sure how this google group works, to be honest I'm computer illiterate!
  3. Powerade zero is good to add, you are doing well with the fifty ounces so adding 15 to 20 more will help. As far as protein you need to look at it like medicine your body needs right now to heal. Have you tried flavorless protein powder in a cream based soup? They even sell protein soups on certain websites
  4. Hazel it is quite obvious you need the last word on this so have it.. But know we will not be trolling the lapband site looking for positive outcomes to then tell them hey I just thought I'd tell you that's great but there are a lot of complications with that too! and I love my sleeve let me educate you on the wonders! And as far as band bashing? People that have had horrendous experiences have the right to talk freely. Just as the ones with sleeve complications do too. Without someone shoving it down their throat (ever so nicely) the wonders of a good sleeve. As far as sleevers weighing in on the band threads? Yes there has been because those threads are about "there better not be any band bashing out of those people" Have your last word then let's be done with it..
  5. I'm a bunch of grapes on top of a pear
  6. Butterthebean, when he did his first shopping after the TT texted me pics as he tried on (Not that I'm fashionable ) You can text someone pics (here or a trusted friend)
  7. No I think it was your wife..she figured since she's already wearing the pants in the family..
  8. Lol and if that's the case I must be looking for a mail order bride, because that's what popped up for me!
  9. This is her story...She should be able to tell her story without turning it into a debate. The sites will be separated soon, as far as having to wade through different surgeries lumped together under "current threads"
  10. * Laura raises her glass high*
  11. Silly! Hell no! I wear skinny jeans, they are stylish and versatile. I'm liking the vigoss jeans (Nordstrom) right now. Also go into Nordstrom's rack if you have one around. Great deals on jeans there. My last pair was only 30 dollars!! And yep I'm old wearing juniors jeans http://m.nordstrom.com/Product/Details/3545917?categoryid=null
  12. Wow guys I dug up this zombie thread. Didn't think anyone would really notice. but waking up this morning I'm glad you guys did It is a heady time of year, I think for a lot of people? I'm so happy that a year ago today that I gave myself the gift of a second chance at health. It's been a crazy up and down year. But I'm so thankful....thankful for the surgery and the loss yes, but even more thankful for the support that I have found through my friends here.
  13. Thank you for sharing this! I am glad that you have decided to report this to the FDA. Really I'm shocked that these devices are still being used. Wishing you all the happiness in your new healthy life
  14. Doing the right thing does not always equal easy, just the opposite as a matter of fact. You decided to get off the path of least resistance... to make a change. I applaud you for that. Recognizing that things weren't working for you, and making an uncomfortable move to get to a place of peace and happiness. Even though it may not feel that way right now. Lean on us, cry when you need to, and most importantly, breath....
  15. I was going to write this on my enabling thread. But it's more about addiction. The holidays are coming, I think those are the hardest times for an addict. My husbands ER is filled to the brim all the time during the holidays. Drug seekers, depression, pain. It all comes out. For such a happy time, it is one of the saddest seasons for a lot of people. How am I going to handle the stress the holidays bring.. Memories, some sad flood back this time of year memories of a brother lost. He had an addiction he never found his bottom.. Have I truly found mine? Yes I've had the surgery... But stress still brings thoughts of food and binging. For some obese people their bottom is death too. A heart attack a stroke or a slow breaking down of the body piece by piece.. I want to think I've hit it and I will never go back. But tonight numbers, facts, stories, statistics dance in my head instead of the seasons sugar plum fairies... Tomorrow I am a year.
  16. I'm glad you found this thread again seela I was unsubscribed even though I started it:p I'm not sure how everyone else has handled the week. But I must be honest and say the stress of losing contact with friends and groups here put a strain on my resolve... I found I was nervous snacking.. I was feeling kinda lost. Everyday life can throw a challenge at you.. Not so much the enabling side but the addiction side. It can sideswipe you at the oddest moments.
  17. I'm hoping Alex just gets it fixed soon... Ok 436 today! I have room for a protein hot chocolate later
  18. Lol it belongs to another member here, that's one of her "afters" Random pics are showing up strange placed the last couple of days. I've had complete strangers in place of mine too!
  19. Hey that profile picture is mighty familiar...
  20. No real help but yes in those early days I felt like a grazer too. It gets better. But in the early days I ate three meals and two snacks so it was every two to three hours! Keep it protein dense yes because the yummy carbs will stay with you even less. I know your nut wants only 3 squares.. But if you only measure out a bit for each meal you have to get some snacks IMHO..
  21. Well I wouldn't say its easy to get back on it.... But it is possible! Your sleeve is still there You just need to start a new day and go back to basics, dense Protein and veg. Kick the crap food cold turkey (which is good protein by the way ) and stay strong, because the first couple of days kicking carbs is not fun. I doubt that you've done "damage" but know that at this point (after six months) you need to step up the mental game a bit. Loss gets slower and capacity naturally increases a bit.
  22. You must be on the main site? Because on the app it's a cacophony of banders sleevers and bypassers colliding into one massive cluster fuck under current threads..
  23. Yes. You will still get topics. And the "ignore people" only works on main site.., At some point we should be walled off again on the current threads... Will it happen before my head explodes with all of that bullshit? I dunno..
  24. No sorry girlie. Alex is working on all of this, in between pulling his hair out that is Lol I told him we wouldn't mix well..
