I personally have had to deal with temptation. I have succumbed once and ya know what I got back on the wagon. This surgery is not easy and it even harder then I thought. It's a daily struggle. All the coaching in the world could not have prepared me for my daily battle with food. However I am getting stronger everyday.
I do understand all points of view and it is not my place to judge ot to call people stupid. I was not raised that way.

I am so confused?? Why is this even an issue?? If people want/need to go to Mexico then that is their personal decision. If they sing their praises then again, it's their right.

This post seems so petty. Why do you feel the need to be so glib about the positive experiences people have had with their Mexico based surgeons? WLS provides the perfect recipe for Medical Tourism thanks to insurance companies being so unwilling to get on board and pay for it. I'm sure there are some quack doctors down there but obviously some very good ones have set up shop across the border and designed an entire operation targeted at U.S. clientele. I see nothing wrong with that. They provide a service that is affordable to the average person but they must overcome the huge hurdle of fear that most Americans have of going to Mexico for surgery. It's clear that most of their American patients take a huge leap of faith in going there. And when they see how well it works out, they come here to tell their story so as to assure others it's not as scary as most of us believe. Without those Mexico based surgeons, many overweight people would not be able to have WLS and would continue to suffer with their obesity.

It really shows your true character when you can apologize and admit your mistake. I applaud you for that!!!

Even though I agree with most of what you said.......everyone's journey is different. Sometimes it takes people longer to understand what they have/should do regarding eating. I don't judge anyone for this reason.

I guess my point is that for those of us who are allowed soda under our plans, it's no different for us than drinking other sugar free beverages. It's ALLOWED for us during the weight loss phase, we're not looking to "get around" the rules.. these ARE our rules. Common sense certainly does NOT dictate that an occasional diet soda will be my undoing! If soda was a "trigger food" for someone then yeah, it should be avoided at least until they are really ready to do all the mental work required to actually learn moderation with trigger foods, which I believe CAN be done, but it's harder sometimes than just avoiding the food alltogether. But if it's allowed on your plan, it's not a trigger food, and you enjoy a few a month, i really don't see the big deal... I don't see drinking 8 ounces of diet gingerale as any different than drinking 8 ounces of crystal light... both should be regarded as occasional treats, not sources of hydration.

And I might also add, that even when I was eating healthy ( Vegan for over a year) I still could never get under 190 pounds. I think there are a lot of factors when is comes to weight. OBESITY IS NOT A ONE SIZE FITS ALL. It is possible for two people to eat the same exact portions and food and one be heavier than the other.

I kinda gulp and it does not hurt my sleeve at all. If I sipped all day then I would never get any fluids in. I'm in meetings and on the phone all day at work, so sipping just doesnt work.
