    Waiting..Aetna Approval

I didn't lose any either. Pretty much stayed the same. Today was my 6 mo visit. Hopefully it'll be submitted to insurance soon and hopefully they'll approve quickly! Good luck!

    fail off bad

Thanks Quita for posting this thread. I haven't had my surgery yet (hoping for Feb/March), but it helps me see that the surgery isn't a quick fix for my weight problem. I have to make a lifestyle change. I've been seeing my physician the last few months for the insurance required diet and I haven't really been taking it serious. I just keep thinking that once I get the sleeve i'll be forced to eat smaller amounts and currently I'm not being forced to do it; therefore, I haven't lost any weight...I've actually gained a few over the holidays. I need to change my way of thinking. I'm going to sit down tonight and write all the reasons that I need/want the WLS and then I'm going to list all the habits and food that I need to "divorce". Maybe I should try a food funeral likes others have joked about. This June will be 3 years since I've had a soda. Not sure where that control comes from, but I know that I can change my lifestyle if I put my mind to it. I just need a jump start...I guess. Or a kick in the butt. Good luck Quita and take care!

My first appt on 10/31 was at Medical City, but my surgery will be at Baylor. You've definitely made my day! I was worried that he schedules surgeries a couple months after insurance approval, but it sounds like yours went pretty quickly (except for his vacation time, but that's understandable). I do have family near and I have a few co-workers that have had the surgery. I do appreciate your support! He never told me that I have to lose weight prior to surgery so I haven't really been trying (especially with the holidays). Do you suggest that I start any preop diets? Any suggestions on protein shakes or powders? Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! Oh, and I think I'll check into the support groups to help get prepared! I can't thank you enough for responding.

Dr. Kuhn is my surgeon too! I hope to have my surgery in the next couple months. Do you know how long it takes from the time that the insurance approves to the scheduled surgery date? Thanks!

    Scared, But Ready!

Hello! My name is Jen and December will be month #5 of my 6 month physician supervised diet required by UHC. My BMI is 52 (245, 4'9") I'm super excited, but kinda scared. I hope that is normal. I'm curious to know if I should start taking certain vitamins right now? My surgeon didn't tell me to, but I read somewhere or watched a video that mentioned starting early. Also, is there a specific way of eating that I should start to prepare myself? My physician is really just going through the motions with me to get me through the insurance approval; however, I am trying to reduce calories and exercise. Any insight is welcomed and very much appreciated! Oh, forgot to mention, I'm from Dallas and my surgeon is Dr. Kuhn at Baylor. Thank you!

    January 2013 Sleevers?

Hello! Im 32, 4'11, and 248 pounds. I'm from the Dallas area and January will be the final appointment for the 6 month physician supervised diet. My guess is that my surgery will be some time in February. Dr. Kuhn's at Baylor Medical is my surgeon. I'm nervous, but extremely excited! I hope that time passes quickly so that I can get this over with. Any advice that I should take with my eating habits right now or vitamins that I should start taking to prepare myself? Good luck to all!
