  1. These r great tips. Hopefully others will read this as well to help prepare for their trip. I would not have thought about neosporin or soap! U saved me
  2. ok, here is another round of questions for those already sleeved with Garcia and Mi Hospital. Sorry, I am trying to pack and getting nervous/excited, so all these things are coming to my mind!! In the hospital, for surgery you are wearing just a gown? At what point can you put on your own gown, robe, sports bra, etc. I dont want to be walking laps with "all that" hanging out I have soft fuzzy socks with skid proof backing for walking. I also got a pair of ear plugs and a eye mask. I heard the hospitals are a little noisy. Did you find that? Sorry for the questions, but when you know others have gone before you, you can't help but be curious. Any other tips or helpful info would be appreciated!!!
  3. A little off topic, but I was wondering if Dr Garcia puts catheters on his patients. I am really nervous about this, the pain and the embarrasment, lol!! Help!!!!
  4. I start liquids on Saturday for 3 days. It is gonna be hell, I won't sugar coat it! lol If I didn't have hunger pangs, it would not be a problem. That has always been my problem. I can't wait to not be hungry!! You can do it, if you cheat, just get back on for the next meal Good luck!!
  5. Does everyone get one? I am hoping not!! If so, is it based on Dr preference or medical necessity, etc? Thanks!!
  6. PB2 is awesome and u can get it in different flavors like chocolate! I add to my shakes for added Protein and flavor!
  7. Are you In TJ? I am also on the 4th with Dr Garcia at Mi Hospital
  8. Yep! I will def keep posting here as I get I MX and throughout the while process!
  9. I just want to add, that while the coordinators are an important part of the experience, the Dr is the one with your life in his hands and you want to feel confident in your decision. Dr Lopez and Dr Garcia are highly recommended, so I believe you're in great hands either way
  10. I feel your frustration!! I am using Ready4 a change with Dr Garcia I am very impressed with alma, their coordinator and she always responds promptly! My surgery is Dec 4th and I am so confident in my decision!! Good luck in your search
  11. I grew up eating cream of wheat, but never sweet. I just love it with salt, milk, and a little butter. Tastes like grits
  12. Hey guys, just thought I would pass this little tidbit along. I called TSA in regards to bringing powdered Protein in my carry on luggage. They said that is fine in a sealed zip lock bag. If u plan on bringing ant liquid Protein drinks there or home such as Isopure, then they will allow, but you will need to let them know and they will put it through additional screening in a separate bin. U don't need a Dr note
  13. Haha not a problem for me, asparagus is about the only veggie I hate!! Yuck!! Lol
  14. Glad everyone finds it helpful! The medication list was most beneficial for me!!
  15. I found this guide online and its so helpful and it answered most all my questions. It's great for us that are self-pay and are not meeting with a NUT or Bariatric surgeon Enjoy!! http://www.peachtreebariatrics.com/docs/Gastric-Sleeve-Patient-Manual.pdf
  16. I found this patient guide online. So much awesome material and answered a lot of my questions!! Enjoy http://www.peachtreebariatrics.com/docs/Gastric-Sleeve-Patient-Manual.pdf
  17. Are you assuming they won't do follow up care if its medically necessary or did you ask them? My insurance won't cover the procedure but they said if I have complications or have to see a Dr or go to hospital they will cover anything out of necessity and I just have to meet my deductible. If you do have complications, hospitals have to treat you and many times they have financial assistance and can even write off the bill if you qualify. Good luck in your decision
  18. Hi, I am pre op, and wondering about medications. We can't have cold medicines? Why about Tylenol for headaches? Or aspirin? Help!! Lol
  19. I have omeprazole in the capsule form. Is there a chewable form? I guess I could empty the capsule into some yogurt or something
