My Dr. told me between 60-80g...but honestly I don't get that much. Fortunately I havent seen any side effects yet. ( hair falling out etc..)

    :( Haven't Had Protein

Protein is suppose to be important as far as helping your stomach heal after surgery (the incision). Here's a really good article about protein. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002467.htm

    Eating/losing

I wonder sometimes because I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and 3 weeks and 2 days later I can eat a Talipia (fish) filet and small sweet potato patty (the circular patty is about the size of the bottom of a bisquit can) .. Sometimes I wonder if that's more than I should be able to eat. However sometimes it varies and I can only eat half of the Talipia filet. That is either for lunch or dinner...then later I'll have some cottage cheese and a few canned peach slices...then rarely I'll have a small thing of Eazy Mac. Either way right now I'm getting about 800 calories a day and just started walking.

    What Size Is Your Sleeve?

I was just told mine was the size of a medium egg...Which I wonder sometimes because I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and 3 weeks and 2 days later I can eat a Talipia (fish) filet and small sweet potato patty (the circular patty is about the size of the bottom of a bisquit can) . Sometimes I wonder if that's more than I should be able to eat. However sometimes it varies and I can only eat half of the Talipia filet.

    Protein Yuck!

UJURY is the best...believe me I tried everything and spent no telling how much. STILL even with the best tasting shake it gets boring tying to get the protein in!

    2# A Week?

I'm the same way. Had surgery Nov. 2nd. I weighed 212. Went to Dr. Nov. 10th and weighed 208...then next appointment Nov. 17th weighed 202lbs. Today the 26th nine days later and I finally broke 199 this morning. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I just didn't think it would take me 5 mths. to get there...sure hope it doesn't but I have a feeling it will. I do NOT regret having it done however. I just thought the weight would come off a little faster. I'm 5'6 so I'd be happy at 150.
  9. I didn't have watery stools..fortunately! I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and it seems some days I can eat more than I think I should be able to considering 90% of my stomach is gone...but other days its not as much. My biggest problem is forcing myself to drink the protein shakes...even though I've found one that tastes really good (UNJURY) I'm just not he type that sits around and drinks liquid all the time...not even water. So getting the protein in has been a struggle!

    Omg I Slimmed

I know exactly what you mean Holly! It's like the food is coming out of the top of your new 'stomach'. I've just learned to pace myself and eat really slow, that way I know that feeling I start to get when its about to do that.

    Omg I Slimmed

Today I sunk to a new low. I pureed a can of Dinty Moore beef stew....ha.. My doctor told me I could eat anything I could puree to the consistency of a smoothy/baby food. I ate 2oz. and it wasn't so bad. Had a couple of stomach pangs. I'm embarrassed to say some of the things I've pureed! I also experimented eating a couple of bites (chewed up well but not pureed with blender) of my sons cheese ramen noodles last night. That cheese taste was SO good. I'm just struggling to get the Protein in. It has been a little better since I started making popscicles with my Protein shake...I just mix the unjury with a smaller amount of almond milk and pour it into popscicle molds. Pretty good! I'm 10 days out from surgery.

    Omg I Slimmed

Yes I read the article, unfortunately I'm not really eating protein as far as the part where it says dense protein stays at the bottom. I understand I just shouldn't have eaten that extra half an ounce and I have noticed the couple of times it occurred I believe I didn't have my food pureed quite enough...it definitely wasn't 'slider food'! Do you know the answer to my stomach question as far as being able to consume 4-6 ounces at the 3rd stage of the diet?

    Omg I Slimmed

Fortunately I've always had to be deathly ill before I throw up...it was kind of like I felt like I needed to burp but ...I knew it wasn't a burp I was feeling that needed to come up, it was food..I have taken TINY sips of tea while eating before if I just cant stand it...or chewed a very small piece of ice out of my tea, so far that hasn't caused a problem. I'm kind of confused that when I get to the stage I can eat 'regular foods' it says 4-6oz....but what causes the stomach to be able to hold more? I didn't think to ask the doctor that when I went for my week post op visit Friday.

    Omg I Slimmed

Ugg....I haven't done that but I'm still in the pureed stage and suppose to have 2 oz. I ate 2.5 oz. the other day and I had that feeling where it felt like the food was coming up my esophagus...it wasn't a vomiting feeling or heartburn it was just a feeling of the food overfilling my new small stomach and felt like it was trying to come up. I'll be so glad when I can have more than 2 oz.

    Protein Shakes & Feeling Full

How many carbs are in the shake after you add the fruit, yogurt etc...Maybe that particular mixture has a little to much sugar? I know I'm that way as far as if I eat anything early in the day that has too much sugar, I'm starving by 1 or 2.

    Chewy Vitamin Question

I bought these today and I actually look forward to taking them. It's 4 a day and they taste kind of like a starburst with a candy type coating on the outside. I got them at Walmart and paid about $7.50 for them.
  22. I am on the phase two (lasts 5 weeks after operation) diet for the gastric sleeve. I can have creamed soup, oatmeal, malt o meal, jello etc..I am curious as to why I can't have cooked egg whites or cottage cheese. The consistency of oatmeal flakes is much rougher (or even malt o meal) than an egg white that has the consistency of jello, or cottage cheese. Is there a particular reason for this because I could sure use the protein. I don't want to hurt/stretch etc.. my stomach but I am just wondering why other soft foods like cottage cheese and egg whites aren't on the list. They contain protein and I don't see how they could damage your stomach if something as coarse as oatmeal or malt o meal won't damage it, if the reason for leaving it off is based solely on consistency . Unless there's some other reason for excluding them. Does anyone know?
  23. The nurse said no but didn't really give me a clear answer....AND when I first saw the oatmeal I was surprised and even called and asked if it needed to be blended (yuck) and they said no. So I'm about to start eating eggs!

    Death And Cornbread Dressing....

I'm about the same amount of days out from surgery as you. Honestly since it was just the one time. I would have done the same thing! I am on the phase two (lasts 5 weeks after operation) diet for the gastric sleeve. I can have creamed soup, oatmeal, malt o meal, jello etc..I am curious as to why I can't have cooked egg whites, or cottage cheese especially since they contain protein. The consistency of oatmeal flakes is much rougher (or even malt o meal) than an egg white that has the consistency of jello, or oatmeal. It confuses me why certain soft foods like those aren't on my very limited food list. So sorry about your grandmother.
