That's odd I don't remember being told to avoid rice. I've had rice with no problems but try to avoid it until I lose the rest of my weight because of the carbs/calories. I haven't had a steak yet, but have eaten meat with no problem as long as it's tender. I just can't seem to hold much. Strange how I can eat a lot of somethings but only a small amount of others.

Nov. 2nd @ surgery 212 lbs. I now weigh 167. I am 5'6. I on average lose 7-8lbs. a month. I have a low BMI so I have to remind myself it's going to be slower for me. I try to keep my calories at 800-1000...I succeed in that most days but not always. I ate what I wanted to around the holidays and ate some chocolate covered strawberries on Valentines. I also stray a few days out of the month and eat something I've been craving. I want to weigh 150-155lbs.

OMG! That's so neat! I will private message you my email. We should meet sometime and talk.

Hi everyone, I am new. I was sleeved on feb. 26, 2013, preop weight 212 and I am 5' 6". My goal is 150 lbs and my current weight is 205. I have lost nothing in the second week and am very discouraged. I have Pcos and very hig cholesterol, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi Ejmai! Our weight, height and goal weights are exactly the same! First let me say don't be discouraged. I had surgery Nov. 2nd and weighed 212. I weigh 167 today. I feel and look SO much better! I average 6-8 pounds a month. However everyone is different and I also had 3 holidays to tempt me. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentines (I LOVE chocolate covered strawberries! LOL) I think because we have a lower BMI it doesn't come off as fast. However I am not a big exerciser and don't exercise like should. so you may very well lose it a lot faster than I have. I have a app on my phone that I use sometimes to keep up with calories. I highly recommend it. Its called MY FITNESS PAL. I will be happy to answer any questions can

It's weird that there are some things I can eat more of,than others. For example I can usually only eat 1 taco, yet I can eat 18+ mini rice cakes (130 cal.) with no problem. The sweet chili ones are unfortunately my weakness. You would think I wouldn't be able to eat many of the rice cakes.

My weight came to a standstill this month...but I did eat a lot of chocolate covered valentines strawberries! I have about 23lbs. to go so I guess I can't complain..I'm going to try to get 5lbs off in the remaining 8 days of this month but don't think I can do that since I've been averaging 7-8 lbs for a month.

I have some womens size 16 jeans and a couple of Old Navy shirts etc..to give away if anyone needs them

If i remember correctly after mine was pulled out I had to wear a bandage over it for approx. a week. Give it a few more days and keep an eye on the color of the drainage.

How open? Just a little bit?

I always did drink a little with my meals. I don't notice a difference with the full feeling between drinking and not drinking. I'm almost 2 years out and maintaining without problems.
I honestly can't tell either...but I'm only drinking a few sips.

your sleeve allows for 2 eggs at once??? I can barely choke down 1
I have a problem with boiled eggs too. Which is odd because I can eat most other things.

Nov. 2nd. surgery date weighed 212 (I'm 5'6). As of today I weigh 185, so 27 lbs loss. Thought I'd lose it faster but then again I'm not starving myself or on a really restrictive calorie diet either.I just try to stay aware of what I'm eating and not consume too many calories. I can pretty much eat anything. The only thing that really gives me a problem is boiled/deviled eggs...odd, but I think it's because the egg takes awhile to 'break down' in the stomach? Otherwise no problem with rice, shrimp, bread and other foods some people have mentioned. I haven't tried a steak yet but hamburger hasn't given me a problem.

That just goes to show you that brands are different when it comes to sizes. I'm 5'6 weigh 188 and have 3 size 14's that fit great...but I have 2 other 14's that don't fit...all 5 are different brands.

I too have had a few disgusting moments. I just thought that my weight would come off easier than it is. I lost 25 pounds before I even had my surgery on November 14th, but I seem to be struggling to lose the 8 pounds that I lost last month. I've always heard that on a regular diet, for most eople, a 1-2 pound weight loss a week is perfectly normal. But with the sleeve, I feel that 1-2 pounds a week is not enough--especially when I see posts where people lose 60 pounds in 3 months. That's my rant. I just thought it would go faster.....

I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and feel the same way. I've lost 22lbs and of course happy about that, but I sure thought I would have lost more by now...of course Thanksgiving and Christmas didn't help matters!

Until I get to the size I want to be I buy my jeans at thrift store/garage sales. I have 5 pairs of size 14 jeans and 3 pairs of 16's. Three pairs of the 14's fit (others too tight) and 1 pair of the 16 aren't too loose (rest too loose). It's the brand of jean I promise!

I haven't actually measured my food (since those first few weeks) but I'd say that (3/4 cup) sounds like me depending on the food. Some days I seem to be able to eat more than other days..BUT my problem is sluggish metabolism. I really have to keep my calories low to lose...have always been that way
My problem isn't sweets its more carbs like white rice, flour, pasta etc..

I am a bad girl. Yes I drink when I eat sometimes. Definitely within those 30 minutes. But I am almost 2 1/2 years out. Things are back to normal. I can eat more than I should. So, I am warning you not to follow me. Bad habits can slip back in.
What happens when you eat & drink together? The pyloric value can allow food to slip through more easily, so you do not get the "full" feeling and in the end eat more
Be wise and don't start.
.
Have you done ok with maintaining your weight?

well my story outa make you feel better about yourself. sleeved on 11/12/12 weight day of surgery about 222. Today I am only at 209. you do the math - 13lbs. That's it! over christmas weeks I lost nothing. I ate a little less mindfully and had a few Lindt candies, but still nothing. So this week I hit everything on target - 72oz Water, Protein Protein protein. little to no carbs - what do you know? I stepped on the scale this morning and it is STILL 209. I'm gonna continue and then weigh myself in a few more days, and if still nothing - I'm going back for a refund! LOL. Could I possibly be the only sleeved patient that never loses any more weight? Dear god I hope not...
LOL...I keep thinking they're going to call me to be on Good Morning America as the slowest weight loss after having had gastric sleeve!

if it makes you feel any better I had my surgery Nov. 2nd and have lost 23lbs as of today. My height is 5'6 and I weighed 212 day of surgery 189 today. Your height/starting weight makes a difference . Sounds like your doing awesome..your body just probably needs to adjust for the rapid 19 lb. loss.

You've lost 19lbs since Dec. 12th?
November 2012 sleevers, please check in.

My constant companion now days!
My fault though I don't get enough Protein. I'm not at a stall but I'm at a SLOOOOW pace as far as losing. The good news is I'm 10-15lbs away from my goal.
