I am also waiitng for my results from Sunday. I have a feeling it came back normal because they didn't have to use a cpap on me and I slept through the night like I always do. This test was a requirement for my insurance so I'm not worried.

You are so right. Mine was not so friendly. He was in the hall talking about another patient to a nurse & how this women was getting a sleep test. That she kept calling for the results & they were getting annoyed. Well dr this patient wasn't to happy after that. I really do think the non wls surgeons have no idea. After my blood work I got a letter from my pcp & she recommended that I need to lose weight because my liver was fatty. Well no s$%t sherlock...what have I been doing getting ready for the surgery! Like I've been going to spa days instead of dr appointments. I get it & I'm right there with ya.

There really isn't much you need to do to prepare. Mine had about 165 questions and they all were true or false. They ranged everywhere but every once in a while one would pop out that would take me a second to answer or I was in between. One thing I can say is try not to over think the question. I think when I didn't do this I was able to truthfully answer the question. Some questions mostly deal with feelings but also actions. Like are you more a leader or more a follower? Do you allow yourself to get pushed around? Are you telling the truth when you are answering these questions? Thing like that.....just be truthful and don't over think it. I am learning that overthinking something can get you in trouble
I had my hour session with the doc yesterday and he gave me a great review and said that I was ready for this. I am so happy that I passed this part. I always get so nervous when it comes to my head. I'm just happy I can move on to the next portion.....lab work!!!!!

I started my journey January of 2011. Went through the process of a whole year of weight management, went to countless appointments and i was supposed to have surgery january-february of 2012, and it didn't happen why? Because the hospital staff is lazy and unorganized. It was May of 2012 when i decided to give up on the idea because i had gotten a new job, and i just didn't have the luxury of taking 3-4 weeks off for recovery. Soon after calling it quits, i found out i was pregnant and 3 months in i had a miscarriage, was it my weight? Maybe so said the gyn but it could of been plenty of other things. Months passed, and i injured my back, doing chores. After going through months of agony i finally found out what was wrong with me, i had a slipped herniated disc. I was rushed into an emergency spine surgery and right before surgery the surgeon(that saved my life) told me that if i would of waited a little longer i could of been paralyzed. And also told me that i should look into getting the gastric bypass surgery. I quickly told him the nightmare i went through with trying to get it and he said dont worry i know someone. After surgery he told me that he really recommends me doing the gastric bypass sooner rather than later because i need to lose a significant amount of weight to get full function of my leg and to have a fully healed spine. He worked his magic with the gastric bypass surgeon & because of this wonderful man, i am now scheduled for my gastric bypass surgery on February 11th and am on my way to a full recovery! below is my before pic, cant wait to post a 6 month post op pic!

You have to do what works best for YOU !!! I do a lot of "talkin" to myself too, it keeps me motivated and on track. I also yell at myself too - LOL. When I was 275 lbs. my Mom would always invite me to walk with her in the park, she was very acitve and in total great shape. So I joined her one day then I got hooked... it was great having someone to talk too, we would walk all year long, it was great seeing nature, the sun rises the beautiful fall colors, the beautiful winter snows, etc. etc. She would notivate me.. plus I liked spending that time with my Mom. If you have someone to walk with it helps.
I have noticed that a lot of people want instant gratification, at first the weight comes off really quick then it slows, at least for me it did. I had 70 lbs to loose, I am 9 months post op and have lost 50 lbs, I have 20 more to go. I had a 2 month stall with no weight loss in Aug/Sept. it was awful... but I kept the exercise up, watched what I ate and then when I increased my exercise the weight started to come off again. Plus, once you start losing the weight it is such a great feeling it totally motivates you to lose more. Just find a exercise you like and you will stick with it.

Doesn't surprise me that people do that....I am one of them. Last nights episode was just not good. You would think that after these contestaints watching previous seasons would know that the first workout would be like that. I just hope tonights episode is a little less whining and more about winning

The Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition were shows that actually help me make my decision to have surgery!!! They are very motivating and I applaud them for having kids on the show this year. I however determined I needed the tool of RNY to achieve my goal as my life is hectic, stressfull and exhausting. I simply do not have the time to exercise all day long, cannot afford a personal trainer or a cook. I admire all those who can make the changes on their own. I simply could not.
Yesterday we had visitors and we offered Snacks. They knew I could not eat and so there was no pressure. It was kind of relaxing to not have the pressure to "be polite" and join them!!
No will power was needed!!! I think I am going to love this!!

You are too funny. I am a size B and weigh 400lbs....I have a feeling I'm gonna have nothing after my surgery later this year. That's gonna suck but I might be like you and get some nice ones. However, I think I will go for a C or something....nothing too big!

In the beginning I only told a few people and it was great. Just recently I have informed everyone and I have been getting mixed reviews especially from one of my best girlfriends. It is heart breaking but you know that making a decision like this is probably the hardest thing we can do. This isn't something we can decide to do and in the end just forget that we had this done. Shame on him for starting out positive and ending like he did. I am proud of you for taking the steps to make a better you and a more healthy you

When you feel good & healthy I wanna know how much you lost & what size you are when you feel 100 percent ready to say "look at me now" . That's the best feeling.

Jeff I had a friend of twenty years freak out on me when I told them about the surgery. I was called lazy and that I was cheating. I even tried to tell him that it was for medical reason. He told me that I am not just doing the easy way and that I really need to not do this. Well after three days of this it dawn on me that no matter what I say he is not going to change his way and that he is not one to lean on right now. Once I did not push the issue I learn what was behind him being a butt head but it did not help those days. So my best advice is to say thank you to the person who is staying something you don't like and change the subject. You will learn who is there for you and who is not this way. It was hard to do at the time but the best thing I could do is get the surgery and move on. I pray my friend will come around and that is all I can do. Trust your good support and laugh at your bad support as much as you can.

Up until this point I have only told a handful of people that I have decided to get the surgery and the response has been supportive. Of course the questions keep coming but I still have questions myself. So on Friday I talked with my boss (I'm his executive assistant for 8 yrs) and told him (also his wife who works with us) about the surgery and the many months ahead. I knew that he was going to be supportive but the reaction I received blew me away. He is so happy and supportive. He even talked about the 6 people he knows that have had it and had great results. It's amazing how many people I have told that know someone that has gone through this process. We talked about everything and then he started talking about how frustrating he has seen me over the last year since I hurt my knees. He knows that I love the outdoors because I love hiking and walking....after all I live on a great trail along our river. I was almost in tears and that is really hard for someone to make me do.
I did tell him that for right now I really want to keep it under wraps until I am a little more educated in the process and then he surprised me again. He said I didn't have to tell anyone, that this is something for me and no one else. The thing is I have worked with all these people for more than 10 years and I do want to tell them but when the time is right I will know. I know that there will be non-supportive people but they know where I stand with that and will get an ear full with any negativity that is thrown my way.
I think I was in denial for so long that the support that I have received so far is shocking only because of the denial. Everyday my faith in the decision to do the surgery has increased and I feel it'll get strong as the months go by
