  1. I started my pre-op diet on March 25th....it's a 6 week diet. I am in week 4 which consists of 2 high protein shakes, 2 small protein shakes, a salad (lettuce, cheese, & Chicken) and SF jell-o and SF pudding. When I hit week 5 & 6 I will only be on liquid so I will mostly be drinking high protein shakes. It has been hard but knowing that my surgery is just around the corner only helps my motivation. I am determined to stick to the diet plan the last 2 weeks to make sure that I am healthy inside and to help the surgery be successful.
  2. I'll probably have my tablet and phone but plan to sleep and rest as much as possible. I have been wondering if I will get bored but I have a feeling there will be no time for that.
  3. Oh I can't wait for that to happen to me....lol
  4. I received my letter today that I have been approved for surgery. Yeah...wooohooo! So I have 5 weeks from today for my pre-op diet and my surgery is scheduled for May 7th. Man this has been a ride I will never forget but I know that the future will be a even better ride
  5. It's a 6 week program. So the 1st & 2nd weeks I do 2 meals (mostly salads with protein) & 1 protein shake. 3rd & 4th weeks I do 1 meal & 2 protein shakes. Then for the 4th & 5th week it's all protein shakes. So far I have been able to get in 100 grams of protein a day. It might not be a lot of food but I do get full now.
  6. So, I started my pre-op diet last week and lost 6 pounds. Considering I was home from work all week and moved I think that is pretty good. My surgeon didn't put a number on how much I needed to lose beore the surgery but he is confident that I will lose a bunch before. As of tomorrow I have 5 more weeks of the pre-op diet so I hope that I continue to do well. My surgery is scheduled for May 7th and so looking forward to it. Of course I am a little anxious but who wouldn't be during this process.
  7. I also got my date...May 7th! Woohoo
  8. I got my surgery date....it's May 7th. I'm so excited but nervous at the same time. I have my 6 week pre-op nut apt on Monday. I'm just so happy I got my date
  9. My doc didn't require me to lose any weight during my 3 week supervised diet because he knows that I'll lose a bunch during the 6 week pre-op diet. Doing 2 protein shakes and a meal with just protein and greens might help you get it down. But don't have anything in between, drink a lot of water! Throw in a bunch of exercise and it might be doable. I start my 6 week pre-op diet here in a few weeks and I weigh 425 pounds and my surgeon feels I'll lose between 30-40 before my surgery because of what I'll be eating. It does seem like an unreasonable amount of weight but if you can't find another surgeon give it a try.
  10. We should My surgeon does it on Tuesdays. I should find out tomorrow if May 7th is my day. Oh how I can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I am excited for you....it looks like we are on the same schedule....only I still have my 6 week pre-op diet to complete but my surgery is on May 7th. They submit to my insurance on Monday but I've already talked to them and they see no issues with approving me.
  12. I am almost into my 6 week pre-op diet which is mostly protein drinks. What I have heard that helps with the sweet tooth is SF pop-cycles or SF jello. It's the one thing that you'll get to eat after the surgery so it might help before. What helps me is I use a little more Mio in my water. It makes it sweet and helps me with my craving. I have quit everything like you but the soda is the one thing that is difficult for me. Considering where I was 4 months ago I have quit a lot of things that are bad for me. Can't wait to hear how your pre-op appointment goes
  13. Oh man, if they make me come back for another test we can jump off the edge together
  14. I am also waiitng for my results from Sunday. I have a feeling it came back normal because they didn't have to use a cpap on me and I slept through the night like I always do. This test was a requirement for my insurance so I'm not worried.
  15. My pcp gave me the all clear. Now to have my last nurses visit on Monday & we should be good for msy
  16. You are so right. Mine was not so friendly. He was in the hall talking about another patient to a nurse & how this women was getting a sleep test. That she kept calling for the results & they were getting annoyed. Well dr this patient wasn't to happy after that. I really do think the non wls surgeons have no idea. After my blood work I got a letter from my pcp & she recommended that I need to lose weight because my liver was fatty. Well no s$%t sherlock...what have I been doing getting ready for the surgery! Like I've been going to spa days instead of dr appointments. I get it & I'm right there with ya.
  17. If everything holds firm mine is May 7th. I'll find out on Monday. I start my 6 week pre-op diet soon. Getting scared & nervous.....
  18. I must be the odd man out because I am looking forward to my 6 week pre-op diet. I plan to get rid of everything in the house except for what I can eat and all the ingredients for my shakes. I guess I'm just wanting to get to the surgery that doing the 6 week diet will help me get there. Of course you'll have to check back with me half way in and see if I still feel the same way
  19. I plan to be off work for the cleared liquid part of my pre-op diet. I have the same fear that I will have a complete meltdown before my surgery....mostly withdrawing from things.
  20. I have my sleep study tonight. I'm not nervous but I hate the whole process. I guess the one thing that I have going for me is that this is the last thing I need to do before I get my surgery date. I don't check in until 8:30 so that makes it easy for me to go to sleep right after I'm hooked up. I have a feeling I'm gonna get better sleep there than at home....now that would be funny

I do feel like I am trying to run before I learn to walk. I have been hearing that people do feel better only after a few weeks and I can't wait for that feeling. This is a change that will benefit me the rest of my life. I need to remember that the next time I really get anxious about the surgery. Thanks you
