    vitamins & biotin

I would ask your doctor, but my doctor told me if the pill is the size of an m&m or smaller, it is okay to take. The biotin I take is smaller and so is the ppi I take. My other vitamins are chewable. I hope this helps. Oh, I am only 16 days out and was allowed to start my vitamins at 1 week post op.
  2. I don't have the restriction with liquids either. I am only 16 days post op, but people have told me that the restriction will be there with solids. We are lucky we aren't having a problem with liquids! I admit I also gulp, but it is more like 1-3 gulps. Still, I agree with Tawnie that you (we) need to slow down. I know if I drink my thicker soups too fast I am stuffed after I'm done. Whereas if I slow down I am more aware of my tummy getting full. I haven't tried any food yet. I still have another week on full liquids. Good luck!

    Low BMI'ers - where'd ya go?

Dr. Alvarez in Pedries Negras, MX (about 2 hours away from San Antonio).
  4. I am/was the exact same way. No restrictions with Clear Liquids at all. I am drinking at a normal pace with no problem. The same is true of broth for me. I was told that i was one of the lucky ones! I am 15 days post op and feel restriction with thicker Soups. My advice is to go slow when eating them. Even though you may be able to eat it fairly quickly, it takes awhile for your tummy to tell your brain it's full. Have a few spoonfuls then wait a minute or so and repeat until you are full. I am drinking about 6-7 oz. of thicker soups at a time. I have another week on full liquids. I can't wait to see what my restriction is like with solid foods!

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

"And I was sleeved on the 21st and haven't lost anything in the past 2 days and today was a 1.5 gain.... Now what??? I'm sad, frustrated, pissed off! Since surgery I've only lost 8.5 pounds...." Try to be patient. I know it is difficult, but It won't do any good to get upset. Think long term. It will happen!

    Week #2

I am exactly 2 weeks post op today. I am feeling great! My incisions are so small and look really good. I got to start on full liquids on Sunday and have over a week left on this stage and I'm already sick of full liquids already. I typically have 1 protein shake each day than try to get at least 40 more oz. of water in. I should try to up that some. It isn't difficult for me to drink it's just A LOT of fluids. I have finally started to get some restriction on creamy soups. I am finding that I am eating too fast. I have started stopping and taking a break and I find after a couple of minutes that I am full and don't want the rest. Slowing down when I'm eating is going to be a huge adjustment for me! As far as weight loss goes, it has really slowed down for me. Last week I was at 171 and this morning I was at 167.4. So, that's a 3.6 lb loss for the week. The last 4 days I haven't lost anything. I know it will happen, I am just being my usual impatient self. I have heard of the 3 week stall, but I think I hit a 10 day stall. Lol. Honestly, I am going to have to be realistic and look at my journey on a monthly basis and to be honest, I would be pretty happy with an 11 lb loss for the month, so I shouldn't complain about a 4 day stall.

what is your favorite snack post op

I am still in full liquids, but I was at Walmart the other day and saw sticks of imitation crab meat and picked some up. I think it will be okay for the soft foods stage? Any thoughts on this? I have no idea how much food will fill me up, but I thought it would be good for lunch or a snack. It's pretty high in protein.

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I would really try to up your liquids if at all possible. I didn't have restriction in the clear liquid stage, so I'm not sure what "normal" is, but I have heard in the beginning to focus on liquids over protein if you have to make a choice. I drank an isopure each day and got 40g f protein each morning. Really try to drink water or crystal light, etc whatever you can tolerate the easiest. You really don't want to end up in the hospital for dehydration!

Almost three weeks out 15 pounds

When was your surgery? Mine was 1/18. I had a premier Protein shake today. I got them at costco. They are only 11 oz. and 30g of protein. They also taste pretty good.
  10. What an idiot! How bad am I that I want to see ths video, though. How do I find it?

airplane home from surgery any suggestions

What airline are you using? I flew SW. At the gate I told them I just had surgery and they gave me a pre-boarding pass. We were in the second row. I am very short, so leg room is never a problem for me. Also, dress comfortably -- slip on shoes and yoga or sweat pants. You will be fine! Also, I would suggest you get up a couple do times to use the bathroom even if you don't need to to keep you legs moving. I also flexed and pointed my toes occasionally throughout the flight. Good luck!

    Wide Calves

My calves are huge! Even the wide calfed boots are too small for me. I really hope I lose in my calves, but I'm sure they will always be bigger than I'd like. I am one week out and plan on taking my measurements monthly. I am most excited to measure my calves and thighs.
  14. Thanks! It looks like you are doing great! I am feeling really great and I am very pleased with my progress so far, even though it has only been a week!

    Week 1 post op

I thought it would be a good idea to have a record of my journey, and what better place than here? I was sleeved exactly 1 week ago today by Dr. Alvarez. He was great! I felt pretty good right after surgery and even the next day until about 1:00. The rest of that day and all of the following day I felt terrible. I have to admit, at that point I didn't care about my weight and wondered what I had done to myself. I didn't think I was the type to regret the surgery, but I was wrong. Beginning day 3 post op, I had turned a corner and really started feeling pretty good! Of course I couldn't resist the scale and thanks to this site, I laughed and wasn't disappointed when the scale showed no loss. The scale did finally start moving on 1/23 and today, 1 week out, I am down 8 lbs! So exciting! One thing that is different about my recovery compared to most is that I am having no problem with fluids. I can drink normally, and actually have to remind myself to slow down when I'm drinking. Today I have gotten about 50 oz. of fluids and 63g of protein. I have never blogged before, so hopefully I'll get the hang of this. Highest weight 205 Dos weight 179 Week 1: 171 (-8)
  16. Picking a goal weight is so hard. The only guidance I have is the bmi charts and mybodygallery.com. The lowest weight I have been as an adult was on my wedding day when I hit 133. That was after 5 months of dieting and running 5 miles a day, every day. That being said, I would love to be maintain between 115-125. It seems like such a far fetched dream. I am 5'2".

2 day post op how mich luquid?

I was just sleeved on 1/18 and I am no Doc, but I would focus on staying hydrated over protein at this point. It sounds like you are doing great. Oh, your body needs sleep too.

    freezing ?

I was always FREEZING prior to surgery and was fully expecting it to be worse afterwards. I am happy to say, that so far (knock on wood) I don't notice any difference and I feel like I may even be a bit more normal now temperature wise. I was just sleeved 1/18, so we will see. Fingers crossed!!

    Just booked my flight!

Slojo, I am impressed! How talk are you?

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

Surgery was 10/18. My day of surgery weight was 179. Today I'm 173.2! Almost 6 pounds and not even a full week yet! I am only 5'2". I am so excited to see the scale move down and not be hungry!
  21. I don't want to upset you, but after your initial loss and now that your bmi is only 31.1, I think 10 lbs a month is pretty normal. The weight loss is going to slow down the closer you get to goal. Plus, 10 lbs a month gives your skin some time to catch up. Hang in there. You are doing great!
  22. I had surgery on 1/18/13, and am doing very well. I seem to be tolerating liquids really well. I was reading in my post op manual that I am not supposed to be drinking more than 6 oz. in a 15 minute period. I have definitely been drinking 6 oz. faster than that without any ill effects. I will absolutely slow things down, but what is the harm if it isn't hurting me? Anyone else have this problem? It seems most people have the opposite problem.
