  1. I got my 1st approval letter in the mail on 12/24/12....so excited! Aetna approved me for a 1 night stay coverage approved for laparoscopy' date=' surgical, gastric restrictive procedure; longitudin al gastrectomy (sleeve gastrectomy). It took a little longer than I thought it would, like almost 3 wks to even hear anything. Now just got to talk with the patient coordinator either 12/26 or 12/27, when she get's back in the office to schedule my drs. consults.

But I am a little worried since my surgery wont be until 2013, will I have to start back over on my deductible?[/quote']

Congrats on the approval!!Now on to the next steps your almost there.Im not sure about the insurance but I know Aetna would be able to answer that best or call your doctor's office

  2. So I am almost done with my 90 day supervised weight loss visits. I have a BMI of 46 with high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Everything seems set for Aetna to approve me except for my 2yr weight history. The only thing I have is my health assessment that I'm required to take through my job and Aetna that shows my weight for the past 2 years. Is this acceptable?

Aetna looks for documented weight that should be fine.

  3. Yea I went and picked up some low sodium broth, sugar free popsicles and Jello. When I go over to my drs office on Tuesday I have to drive 3 hours in going to pick up the Meal Replacement bags. I alsp got a robe some chap stick I will be needing for the day of. What did u get.

Thanks for reminding me about the chapstick, I havent packed anything, its like Im in a gof or something Im moving in sllllllllllloooooooooooww motion. But hopefully that will change by next week because Im passed ready.

  7. The hardest part for me will be coming up with the 500 for my out of pocket thing before surgery. Hello early tax return!

In regards to the money for the out if pocket speak with the financial office at the hospital and make payment arrangements, had I not asked I would be paying 750 oop, they made arrangements for me to pay half now and the rest over the next 12 months..Check it out

  8. Hi guys im being sleeved December 28th at Herman Memorial hospital in Houston Tx with Tlc Surgery' date=' Dr Scarborough!!! I start pre opt on the 14th of December. Any one else?[/quote']

It seems surreal just last month we were anticipating the approvals now the pre-op diet is coming up this week.Omg my nerves are getting the best of me. Im ready, already planned my big trip to Jamaica to Celebrate my 6th months post surg.

  9. All my life when I decided to diet and lose weight I just did it. Now that I am in the middle of my six month pre op phase I can't seem to lose a lb. Last time I dieted I lost 80 lbs in 5 month on low carb. Now I can't do anything. I'm afraid that if I don't lose anything in this six months I won't be able to have the surgery. I think I have an "I better eat this now 'cause I won't be able to eat it later" kind of attitude. Anyone else have this problem and did it affect your surgery date. Is there a minimum amount you must lose to get the surgery?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I totally understand and for awhile I had that same attitude. But remember about two weeks prior to your surgery you have to do your liquid diet to shrink your liver so you will loose weight then.Im sure you will be ok but be mindful not to over indulge. Its time to mentally prepare for the new you.

  10. I had Oxford and as of jan 2012 they require 6 months and I changed to Aetna because its cheaper and found out they require 3 months I was wondering if they have any issues or other requirements that I maybe unaware of

Aetna is very good. The requireme 6 months with pcp or 3 mon with nutritionist, psych eval, gall bladder scan, 2 year weight hist and thats it basically. Approval about 5-10 days.

  11. Ikr im like dang lol but im so happy!! Cant wait until that date! Have you heard anything yet.

Ok so now i have good news. My surgeons office got their act together and submitted my paperwork on 11/30. I called Aetna to confirm and they infact have the paperwork. The Nurse even told me that I was next in line to be reviewed. Soooooo... Fingers crossed everyone! Hopefully i will hear something by the end of the week. Honestly, if it takes another 2 weks im fine with it. I am just glad it made it to its destination.

You've made it this far, this is the nail bitting stage but Aetna is fast and efficient you should here something soon. good luck:)

  12. I got my surgery date!!!! 12/28/2012 so excited!! Pre op liquid starts on 12/14/2012. Going to grocery store for sugar free popsicles and Jello this week chicken broth and poweraid zero. When I go to the dr this week for my pre opt appointment I will be buying my meal replacement shakes!!!

Finally, everything is working out,so happy for you:) On to the next phase, now it seems like everything is coming up so fast.

  13. I'm new to all of this posting stuff so you'll have to pardon me but I felt like you all could alleviate some of my anxiety! The dr's office sent in all of my paperwork to Aetna on 11/21 and my "clinicals" we're sent by fax on this past Thursday' date=' 11/29, which not many people have actually talked about. Aetna said now that they have the clinicals it should only be a day or two before they make their decision...which is where my anxiety lies! I hope it's a YES!!!! Also, my dr has actually scheduled my pre-op for 12/06...but no word on when my surgery might be if the insurance company even says yes...I'm nervous and anxious![/quote']

You should call and check, usually they wouldnt schedule for pre-op without being approved.Your surgery should be sometime this Dec. bc pre-op prepares you for the surgery (liquid diet etc..). Good luck!!! Aetna works pretty fast:)

  14. Not yet waiting on the billing manager to call and tell me my copay I already met my deductible with aetna so they said its like 113.00 for my surgeon which isnt bad at all... I dont know how much the hospital is going to charge me. I dont care when my date is so long as its before Jan 1 2013 lol I have to meet up with my surgeon one more time next week so he can explain everything. Then 2 week liquid diet then surgery!!!!!!!

Yeah, its sounds like we should be sleeved about the same time, can't wait:)

  15. Don't worry. Aetna needs 2 years weight history, which is just the documentation regarding your weight they are not looking at the BMI, for each year they will consider the BMI as of current date. your PCP only needs to show 6 consecutive months of diet history or you can do 3 month with a nutritionalist then your psych ev..al
