  1. I absolutely would love that type of resource. The fact that they are degreed with the nutritional information is great but the added bonus is the fact that they have actually had the surgery and know first hand the struggles.
  2. I know that everybody has different information on hair loss after vsg. I am 4 months post op and I started noticing hair loss at about 3 months. Mine isn't as severe as some but it is significant for me. I can tell that I have lost some volume in my hair. I read an article that stated the loss will start around 3 - 4 months, then regrowth will start around 6-8 months and that at about a year hair loss should stop. Maybe that will help. I know that everybody is different so this time table may be completely off but just thought I would share. I am hoping mine will start regrowing in another month or so. Good luck and God bless!

    6 months out!

Wow...you look great! I have the same question...any advice on how you lost so quick? I am down 66 pounds in 4 months. What does your diet consists of? Do you exercise quite a bit? Also curious as to how much Protein you consume daily? and is it thru all food or do you still do the Protein shakes? (Sorry for so many questions) But I would appreciate the advice. Congrats! Thanks and God bless.

    5 months after surgery......

I was sleeved on 9/10 so I am at my fourth month mark and I am down 66 pounds. You are a great encouragement for me. You look amazing! I agree, you do look younger. (Your wife looks great too.) Keep it up! God bless.

    I need a little encouragement

Please be encouraged at how far you have come. You are doing great! I was sleeved on 9/10 and I am down 66 pounds. I went through about three weeks with no weight loss. I actually gained 2 pounds during one of those weeks. I was frustrated also because when you are not eating very much every day...how can the weight not be falling off of you ??? LOL Just hang in there. That is what I did and the weight started off again. I agree with some of the other post. I only weigh once a week. I cannot handle weighing daily because I get very discouraged. Keep it up!!! You will reach your goal. God bless, Marilyn

    Worried

I was sleeved on Sept. 10, so I am a little over 3 months out and that is about all I can do. About 5 bites and I am full....depending on how thick or dense the food it. My dr. told me that is normal and that at about 6 months I will do about 6-8 bites and then at a year I will be able to eat 3-4 ounces. He said then I will be maxed out and I should never do more than 3-4 ounces so I do not stretch my sleeve out. I'm curious to hear some of the other's advice. I know each dr. varies on what their expectations are. Good luck and God bless!

    Worries

I just read your post. First of all, I want to encourage you to focus on all the positive things you will gain after surgery and weight loss. Don't focus on all of the things you will be giving up. I was sleeved on Sept. 10 of this year and I am down 60 lbs and 48.5 inches!! I would rather have that than any Dr. Pepper in the world! LOL...I will be honest I do miss the soft drinks and I'm amazed at the post of people who are drinking them. I am too scared because of what the carbonation can do. But again, I don't need them so it's a good thing I have a healthy fear of consuming them anymore. The drinking before, during and after was not difficult but a challenge. I was a drinker too and I think the hardest is not drinking alot before the meal is served. But, as others have stated, it gets easier. The vitamins do become second nature. Trust me, they will make you feel so good (because of your nutrient deficiencies) that you will want to take them. Good luck and focus on the end result. Be patient. I am three months out and I can eat about 4-5 bites and I'm full. My doctor told me that it will take me a good year for my sleeve to be formed and completely normal. It's a slow pace but you will look up and not be able to believe how fast you got there!!! God bless.
  9. I agree, you need to call your doc if you think something is wrong. You know your body and follow your gut. I am 3 months post op today and I do not get nauseau anymore. I do however have a problem with chicken. It has to be shredded and extremely tender. I also can't eat any type of lunch meat and I have to be real careful with beef. That is part of it. My doctor told me that it will take a year for your sleeve to form and level out. So, some of your problems with the meat may just be where you are at in the process. I don't know...I'm guessing. Call the doc to be safe. Good luck!
  10. I was sleeved on 9.10.12 and I was drinking just about what you are doing. I could do about 2 ounces every 10 - 15 minutes. You will gradually be able to drink more and more. Trust me....I didn't believe it when everyone said that but it is true. Heads up on when you start eating regular food, you will not be able consume that much. I am 3 months post op today and I can only do about 4 bites and I am full. My dr. says that is completely normal and that at around 6 months I will be able to do 6-8 bites and then at a year I will be able to do about 3-4 ounces and that is the most I should ever be able to eat. This is so you don't stretch your sleeve out. I hope that helps. Good luck!
  11. Hey guys, I am new to this forum. But I really enjoy reading all of the information and advice. I was sleeved on Sept. 10 of this year. I am down 48 pounds and a total of 36 inches!!! I am still confused over so many things. Such as how much Protein to consume, new things to eat, etc. But my main question tonight is about hunger. I read about people who do not get hungry anymore. That is not the case with me. I still get hungry but it only takes about 4 bites to fill me up. I'm curious if anyone has had the following problem....yesterday I was hungry all day and now today, I have not been able to eat very much at all. I have been fairly satisfied all day and what I have tried to eat is not agreeing with me. Is that normal to fascilate from one extreme to another within 24 hrs???? Thanks!

    Introducing Myself

It's nice to meet you! I have about 200 lbs. to lose. Man...that sounds like alot when you just put it out there. But I have waited for about 15 years to have this surgery so I do not care how long it takes to get the weight off. For me, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Regarding the NUT advice, I am asking a couple of friends what their NUT says because they are having guided steps all along the way and I am also listening to my body. Everyone is different, so I think that is the main thing is for me to learn my body. How much protein and calories were you required to have? What kind of exercises did you do? My dr. says that I am released to do any type of exercise I want.
  13. Hey everyone! My name is Marilyn and I am new to this forum. Actually, I'm technologically challenged so I am not clear on how to navigate through any of this kind of stuff (just ask my 22 yr. old daughter). LOL! I had my VSG on 9.10.12. I am 2 months out and I'm down 44 lbs. and 20 1/2 inches!!! This site has been very helpful for me. I have had alot of questions and I have found many answers from ya'll. Thank you! I do not have the benefit of seeing a NUT on a regular basis. My insurance does not cover any type of weightloss procedures or dr. visits. Therefore my surgery was on a cash basis. I have a certain number of visits that are included with that package and then I'm on my own. My dr. is an amazing surgeon but he is a general surgeon, therefore, he does not specialize in weight loss. I do not feel like he is giving me the same guidelines as others that I have read. He still has me at 500 calories, 50 grams of protein and no more than 40 grams of fat. He is not concerned with my carbs at all. That seems weird to me. So, after my last visit, I decided to up my calories, my protein and start watching carbs. In addition, he has had me on a multi-vitamin but nothing else. After talking with a friend who has the surgery in July of this year, I started taking additional things. I had gotten to the point that I didn't have the energy to lift up my arms. Once I started incorporating the sublingual B12, I immediately felt a difference. I am fixing to add D3 and Calcium Citrate. I can only eat about 4 bites at a time and my dr. says that is normal. He said in about 6 months I should be able to eat 6-8 bites then in a year I should be able to do 3-4 ounces. That should be the max. So, apparently I am right on target. I'm looking forward to getting support and giving support with you guys!
