Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!

Started this journey Nov 1st 2012 Started 266 Currently 176 That's a total loss of 90 pounds. I stalled for almost two months and just started seeing the scale go down. I eat under 1000 calories a day. I'm wearing med to large shirts and 12-14 pants. My tummy seems to be holding on a long as possible. I need to get into the gym and start toning. Overall pretty darn happy with my new life
3. I heard Dr. Tieu is great too! I go to the Viera meetings. Have you been?
4. Hi! I had Dr. Allison at New Fit. He was great

Ibuprofen Alternatives?

I was never told not to take ibuprofen. I've taken it a couple times since surgery. I'm curious now...
8. Glad you went and didn't wait too much longer. Keep us posted. We'll be thinking of you!
9. I was admitted for dehydration because I was vomiting everytime I put fluids in me. I was 3 days out from surgery. They kept me for 5 days. Dehydration is a pretty serious thing. We need fluids for our body to work. Once you get behind on your fluids its so hard to get caught up. Have you tried Gatorade, sf popsicles and chicken broth? I understand your worry about the cost. I ended up with a pretty hefty hospital bill after. I still don't regret going because I know I couldn't do it without some help. Good luck and keep us posted.
10. I wasn't allowed anything but clear liquids the first week. Broth, warm tea, jello, crystal light. Just keep sipping. Everyday it gets easier and the fluid intake increases and walk walk walk. You'll do great!
11. Who needs soap operas when you have vst? Just saying....
12. Thank you sooo much for sharing. You look absolutely beautiful! What an inspiration. I looked at your pics and couldn't close my mouth I was in shock. Great job!!!
13. I use the Premier Protein from Sams too. I do know if you call different companies they'll send you some samples to try. I like the Syntrax Nectar kind too. Good luck

Potty troubles?

Miralax in a cup of hot herbal tea did the trick for me. It was about a week and a half before I was able to go.

Liquids

I also do Crystal Lite
16. I agree that you should be fine with the wrap. Just eat the meat if you don't want the carbs. They'll also sell you just a piece if grilled chicken plain if you ask. Everything can be modified. Have a great time on the field trip!
17. I was sleeved Nov 1st and have lost 34lbs since surgery and 51 total. I work out, get my protein, low carbs and drink plenty of water and compared to some, I'd be considered a " slow" loser. Although I'd love for it to melt off of me, I am grateful for what has come off. I know that I would never have gotten this far without surgery. Along with everything I'm learning lately, being patient is the hardest.

Protein bar recommendations needed

I use the Premier Protein bars. They sell then at Sams, Costco and I recently saw them in Walmart. 30g per bar. They sell the shakes too with the same amount of protein.

Slowly losing

Hi! I completely understand your frustration. I'm pretty close to you're stats. I started out at 266 and on surgery day I was 249 and today I'm at 227. I spoke to the doc today and was reassured that since my bmi wasn't as high (40) I'm probably not going to lose big numbers in the first month but to be patient and it will come off. Also that our bodies need time to adjust to the weight loss including pre-op. Lower bmi tend to be a bit slower but in the end we all get there. I eat between 600-700 calories a day making sure to get 60 grams protien plus 64 oz water a day. Hang in there, it's going to happen!
23. Sleeved Nov 1st Pre-op: 266 Day of surgery:249 Today: 228 Not as fast as some but still happy
