Good sites for before and afters?
greensleeve replied to greensleeve's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
A lot comes up but it's a lot of disconnected pictures that are missing their before or after. -
Holy Easter Candy Batman
greensleeve replied to pinkbarbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does suck but stay strong. if I were you I would have the kids put their candy away some place you won't have to look at it tomorrow. And then if there is extra candy take it to work or give to neighbors or throw it away. -
Would Jello help you with the chewing issue? I don't think that's a good habit to get into but we all have our food issues or we wouldn't be here. I follow a woman on YouTube who is over a year out and still chews and spits bread.

Weighing in on surgery day....
greensleeve replied to tarahuff82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What was your starting weight? Some times your body goes into starvation mode, sometimes you retain water like crazy due to stress. I wouldn't worry about it. -
Weighing in on surgery day....
greensleeve replied to tarahuff82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Five pounds is great! From what I was told, if you gain weight on the liquid diet they might postpone your surgery. I guess they have had people come in 15 pounds heavier. It's nearly impossible to gain that much on a liquid diet and they won't do the surgery because obviously the person cheated. Did you have it for two weeks or one week? -
Do u ever wonder how people here eat such a perfect diet - all the time?
greensleeve replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If the surgery were enough, no one would ever gain their weight back. But many do. It is very possible to stretch your pouch or sleeve, it is very possible to graze all day, to eat too many slider foods. I hope your strategy works for you but obviously it doesn't work for a lot of people who end up gaining their weight back. I don't think people are trying to be perfect, they are trying to be healthy, to get past food addiction, to be sure they take advantage of the honeymoon period, and be sure they get in enough protein and liquid every day. I would hope that you discussed your mindset with your nutritionist and your surgeon when you were pre op? -
Keep measuring yourself with a tape and sometimes you will lose inches even though the scale is stuck.

what was your first pureed meal?
greensleeve replied to marmello's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The first thing I had was Taco Bell refried beans. I couldn't finish half of it. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt with PB2, cottage cheese, smoothies, protein shakes, and soup. -

On the puréed phase? -
Really need some support
greensleeve replied to loveurself1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Does your program have live support group meetings? Go to them. I would suggest getting a therapist who specializes in bariatrics too. I'm sorry he doesn't support you. What are his reasons? -
25 pounds is wonderful! Talk to your NUT if you are worried though. I think with soft foods they just empty your stomach faster so you can eat more.

"I don't ever want surgery..."
greensleeve replied to elfnow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is so disappointing! If I were you I would look into seeing if you can get an exception. If not, keep losing and then look into changing insurance next year. -
You lost 25 pounds since surgery or overall?

Need breakfast ideas, sick of eggs and protein shakes
greensleeve replied to NMJG's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I love turkey bacon. It tastes like bacon without the grease. -
Are you drinking while eating? I had surgery on the 25th and my feeling of fullness varies from day to day. But I can eat five ounces of Greek yogurt at a time. I think with slider foods we are able to eat more. It should be that when you go to solid foods you are going to feel fuller a lot faster. How'd your weight loss going?

Hate my protein shakes
greensleeve replied to teachingkids2004's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How are you mixing them? My husband bought me a little blender that is made just for shakes and smoothies. Somehow they taste better when they are blended really well and the texture is better. If you are allowed I would try putting in sugar free syrups too or even fruit. Also the nurse told me most protein products taste better when they are very cold or frozen. You could try that and see if you like it. If you have a support group in person you might see if you can sell the rest of it to someone too. -
Missouri....St. Charles County Sleevers

Hi! I had Dr. Morales too. He is excellent! Just to warn you I found out in the hospital that 95% of his patients spend two nights in the hospital. So be prepared. He is very conservative and careful but I think that's good. -

Please explain pre-op diet
greensleeve replied to txags's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every surgeon is different. Some of them want you to only do an Atkin's type diet, some want you on liquids, and the length time varies too. Some base it on your BMI. I are some chicken for lunch every other day during my first week. I just did liquid the second. I lost 8 pounds in two weeks. One of the nurses told me that the people who stick to the pre op diet and lose weight have a better outcome than those who don't. -
I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
greensleeve replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ok I'll say it....are they real? Because so many women lose their girls when they lose weight. Did you have plastics before or after WLS? Sorry if that's rude. -
I am with you. I am ok today but damn some days I get so sick of the puréed food! I just want something crispy or crunchy! Just try to keep in mind that one day you will be able to eat a wider variety of foods. I think we crave variety in flavor and texture. And when we don't have it, anyone is going to just think about it a lot. Good luck to you, you can do it!

Oh also do you have pressure incontinence?

Oh that sucks! We did it! I felt kind of like it was the first time I was nervous and felt subconscious. Ha.
