I had my sleeve done in Oct 2012 - its going fine, but still not at my goal - I'm happy where I am, don't get me wrong - but need to lose another 20lbs or so in order to be able to get skin surgery - the NHS is so full of rules...

Hi,
I was NHS - but you are right - I had to wait 6 years, from when I first went to my own GP to the actual op..patience is a virtue as they say...Hope you don't have to wait as long - I'm in Grampian Scotland region

Good luck - you won't regret this

Sounds like meralgia paresthetica to me... its an unreal pain - I've got it in both legs. Just the upper part though, above the knee?
I get celebrex, lyrica and other pain pills for it... be lost without them - before getting diagnosed there were times I even just had to sit on the pavement (sidewalk) as I couldn't stand any longer...
The doctor tried steriod injection with me first - it didn't touch it...
I hope you find something to relieve your pain.

I have had meralgia paresthetica for a few years - this sounds similar - like a burning sensation at times?

I've not had bread since before surgery almost 3 years ago - I'm sure that I could have some without too much trouble, if I took small bites - but I choose not to go down that path again - I was a sandwich addict..... sometimes it better to just tell yourself, you can not have something... and if a craving arises, just say no to yourself.. it is simply not an option... if you have something once - you are liable to go back for more...

You will be on the 3 week stall - its quite common - its just your body adjusting.. the scale will move again soon - just keep sticking to the plan.
-
I was on a different type of pre-op diet from you guys - but could it not be lack of caffiene? I know that that can give you some real stinkers of headaches.

Half an hour either side, here too.

I think its natural enough for your mind to be going haywire like that and wanting all the goodies that you won't have for quite some time, if ever again - for me, my 'last meal' was macaroni cheese... always been my favourite and probably my downfall.
If its playing on your mind so much - have a little bit of what your fancy... then set your mind straight that thats the line drawn under the 'old you' and you will be having a fresh start from tomorrow onwards - no excuses.. better that than not giving in to your desires and it being on your mind for the next however long and you feeling cheated..

i've thought along similar lines at times - at first it was falling off - but now 2.5 years out, its a struggle for me to get to goal... I need to lose about 20lbs in order to get skin surgery.. for all the amount that I can and do eat - I hear what you are saying..
-
It sure is a wonderful feeling Enjoy!

as wannab says, the scale will start to move soon - but try not to watch it.
Don't be disheartened - you are doing well, and i'm glad the pain is decreasing. It won't be long and you will be able to move about more...

How long are you waiting before drinking? Sometimes if I drink too soon it hurts.

Hi Jessica, Just wanted you to know that I've been reading your blogspot - its really good and interesting - will be checking back now and then
Thanks for sharing.

I'm interested in finding this out too - I've not really counted calories, but perhaps this is where I've been failing - I seem to have been on a stall for a year

3 weeks is a long time... I think you should see your doctor about this - he will hopefully be able to give you something to relieve you.
I take dulcoease and dulcolax (not sure if you get that in US, as I'm in UK), but perhaps theres something even more gentler that you can take - i've had of peo;le taking Miralax - hopefully someone else will be able to give you more accuarate information.
perhaps consider going to ER if you haven't been in that long... are you drinking plenty fluids?
-
Oh wow, thats ages you have been in hospital!
I'm glad that they are taking care of you like they are,
Keep your chin up - won't be too long and you will get the stent out - are they keeping you in until then? or will you get home anytime soon?

Hi,
I start to crave carbs, after I've actually had carbs... best to try to stay away if you can.
In saying that, I have diabetes so sometimes my body does actually 'need' carbs.. If I'm predominantly Protein, then I go low blood sugar I find.
Glad you worked out what was causing your craving though.

I have my daily one or two cups of coffee and the rest of the time i'm crystal light/water - and I do drink a lot of that - I don't see the harm if its something that you enjoy.

I watched this documentary lastnight too - I was surprised to realise (as I'm sure I mustve known before but just not 'thought' about it) that they even condition us from babies, if you give your baby formula...
A very good watch and something that I would watch again too.

I've lost over 100lbs now - thank you I know what you mean about always putting it back on again - that was the story of my life... I do seem to have come to something of a standstill now though.
