    Need help with vitamins

I do have to wait a while before eating, but I'm petrified of losing my hair, and have issues with my knees - 5-lox is meant to be really good for joints.

I received my approval in three days!

I'm in Scotland, UK - and the waiting lists are crazy - they kept saying that they had other priorities, and other areas had to be done first - they only had slots for X amount per financial year.. I have to say though, that despite the wait - it has been worth it. You won't regret your decision!

Congrats! Will be thinking of you both on the 28th - to me 3 days is amazing - I had to wait 6 Years over here in the UK for mine! x

    my hair!

I got sleeved on 11th October. Previous to surgery by about 6 months my hair was thinner than it had ever been - I was low in b2 vitamin it was discovered, due to having had a balloon in for about 10 months in total. I started taking all the vitamin supplements that I can get my hands on - predominantly b vitamins, also biotin and extra b2 - using hair thickening shampoo and conditioner too - I'm hoping against hope that my hair doesn't thin again - as it is currently thicker than its ever been. Great idea about changing hair style - will be keeping this in mind! So basically, the only advice I can give is try biotin supplements.. hope you find something that works for you.
  9. Hi, Tomorrow I will be 5 weeks out, and over the past few days I have been going from feeling ravenous - like will eat my hand hungry, and can't think of anything else! to ofcourse feeling extremely full after like two teaspoons of food. I'm finding this all so new. Just last week I was holding off eating because of the pain I got in my back and my chest from certain foods - but now I feel I can eat more foods, but its this starving feeling that I don't like.. At this stage - 5 weeks out, how often should I be looking to eat and how much at a time? Any help appreciated.

    Is Feeling Ravenous Normal?

Hi, I had a visit with my surgeon yesterday too and I also asked him about it. The sudden feeling of hunger, and I also get some pain in my front and back with it, sort of just nder m breast area. He said that I might have a bug, which will need antibiotics - this bug could have caused an ulcer. He did a blood test on me. Just waiting for the results to come through. If nothing shows up he is going to put the camera down to see what is going on. I hope that you get some help - and me too. Keep in touch! I'm 7 weeks out today. - just lost 28lbs so far but the surgeon seemed happy with that.
  11. Hi, From one emotional eater to another - I am 5.5 weeks out and I can tell you, the surgey really does help! sure there is still a bit of head hunger, and 'thinking' of reaching for food when the stress happens... but physically you can't eat like you used to - and after one episode of trying to - boy you will feel the pain and that stays with you in your mnd when the notion hits again... well thats how it is with me. I think your mum is being really unfair to you - but she is probably worried about you having the surgery, my dad was the same - when they realise that it is really going to happen they panic ad try anything to make you change your mind. Its not right, and its not fair.. but thats my take on it. Stay strong. This is your life, and you will succeed and be healthy! x
  12. Hi, Do you class your Protein shakes as meals, or supplementary? Do you leave the half hour between drinking a shake and drinking Water also? Thanks in advance.
  13. Thank you for the replies. Much appreciated. x

    Is Feeling Ravenous Normal?

I have thrown up a few times lately, and thats been worrying me too - I've calld my nutrionist, but got the answer machine, hoping she calls back soon. Thanks for the advice about the plate - I will try to envisonage this from now on - although not up to having the side plate yet... its hard sort of going from where I was before - with eating and the amounts that were 'normal' for me, to where I am now. Do you count your protein shake as a 'meal' or is that supplementary?

Any New Uk Sleevers Out There?

thankyou tealover - I read this post a few days ago and have had it in mind each day since. I'm now 26 days out, and am having to remind myself to eat more slowly - often I'm just that wee bit too late in remembering and I feel the pain in my chest and back.. each day is a new day though. x
  18. I've just had my first ever Protein shake, and I'm very impressed! I chose the chocolate variety, but have ordered strawberry too. I'm thinking I might put some ice in next time, and this will keep it cool and also thin it out a bit, as it seems to get thicker the longer it lies, I'm only 20 days out, so it takes me a while to get one down me.. Up until now I have been having Slimfast shakes... I though that would be fine, but seems theres too many carbs in them - unfortunately I've got a small stockpile, but luckily my daughter is doing Slimfast, so they won't go to waste.

    First Protein Shake

I'm sorry to hear this - How long are you expecting to be back on the clear liquids?
  21. able2cope

    First Protein Shake

I know that we in the UK had the low carb version of slimfast for a while, but that was some years back - i haven't seen it around for a long time, and it isn't showing as an option on our Slimfast UK site either - pity, as it would be more readily available..

    First Protein Shake

Hi, I didn't realise that it wasn't the 'perfect' choice, and it was on the list I got from the hospital as options... I didn't recognise any of the other ones mentioned, and as I was only handed this information by leaflet once I was in the hospital, my only option was to ask my family to get what was available in our local stores here in UK. I had to send away for the Protein powder I got - there isn't a great selection in stores here - not that I know of anyway. I'm learning though
