    Compliments/ Insults

You do have a point in regard to what is acceptable in the work place to say, but why can't people just say you are pretty and leave it at that. Which brings me to another saying... You are pretty for a big girl. LOL, wth When I was younger, I would really get upset. Now I just say thanks and keep on going. I wonder when I lose my excess weight if people will say, you have a pretty face for a small person...lol probably not.

    Does Anyone Else Hate Eating?

I have not been sleeved yet, but it sounds pretty depressing reading the love-hate relationship with food. We all loved food that is why we had to use this as an alternative...I guess I am already mourning food and I have not even had my surgery yet. We cannot do anything or attend any function without food being involved..(slow breaths) I can do this...I have to.

That is really good! I have not been sleeved yet..the day cannot come soon enough. How has it been? I have a feeling I may mourn food. From what I am reading, all your sleeve is able to tolerate is about 1/4 of a cup...not very much at all. wont be able to enjoy a steak anymore.

    Why Lie?!?!

Loved it! You had me rolling!

    Why Lie?!?!

Because she lost well over 100 pds in 4/5 months and her body had not caught up to it yet.

    Why Lie?!?!

Those are my sentiments as well! As a society, we boast about EVERYTHING in life whether it's our child scoring a touch down in a football game, the new hot item we just purchased, or something as simple as the fabulous meal we cooked. Yet when it comes to all things weightloss or especially weightloss surgery we take to being more reserved about it. Just because person A may not agree with what I did or the method of weight loss I chose to do...get over it because in the end you do not define who I am and your opinion is just that an opinion. Your reply was definitely inspiring...it is about being a healthier, better you and if I can just help 1 person achieve a longer life through surgery, than I am in it.

    Why Lie?!?!

@Readytolose I definitely understand the negativity part, especially when it comes from people who probably have never had a weight issue. In casual conversation with a person who is obese and different methods of losing weight came up, would you tell them that you have had weightloss surgery if they were struggling with their weight or would you tell them to reduce their calorie intake (and have them believe that they could achieve the same amount of weighloss in short timeframe)?

    Friends Could Be So Negative!

I can see why you were upset. A time and a place exist for EVERYTHING. Your friend was out of line for that because their is a proper way to talk to someone about something so sensitive as weight and weight loss surgery. People really think it is that easier...it's not!

28 Yr Old Newbie From Charlotte, Nc

Melissa your story sounds so much like mine! All my life I have been overweight and never truly comfortable with myself. You could never tell that weight was a problem for me because I never portrayed to have low confidence/ self esteem. Several years ago I went to a consultation for getting the lapband, but could not fathom having a foreign object in my body forever. So surgery was placed in the back of my mind as I continued the cycle of dieting, losing weight, than regaining. It was recently while talking to my ex-roommate. She told me that she was going to have a wls to lose weight. I dove into wls again and came across this site, self-pay surgery in MX, and have finally decided that this is what I need.

Hi Everyone, I reside in TX. I have not been sleeved yet... March 2013 seems soooo far away! I will be traveling to MX for surgery. I can't really say I have much of a support system. My sister feels as though this is too drastic and that "I should have discipline and lose the weight on my own." One of my good friends thinks that no one looks good who has the surgery and that "they all have a lot of extra skin." So I would really like to meet people who have been through what I will go through and who just understands.

    Fear Of The Unknown

I guess...you know how you get to that place where you are comfortable...and not that I am comfortable being like this, but it is all I know. And with this surgery..this blessing and tool that has been provided to us...I know I will lose weight but I have never been smaller and healthy...and being like that is a little scary because I will not have to worry about being huge again because I will not let myself get like this
  19. I have yet to have my surgery and now that I am getting ready to choose my date and pay my deposit (Self pay in Mexico)...I am getting fearful. Not necessarily of the procedure, but life afterwards. I have been obese my entire life and figured that yo-yo dieting would always be my story...with unsuccessful results. But now having this procedure is really real and I am scared. I want to be healthy, but how will I look? Will I like how the smaller me look? Will I lose friends along the way? Will I become obsessed with losing weight? Will people treat me differently? So many questions that I am not able to answer are floating through my mind? Some that I never thought was even an issue, so it has to be a trick of Satan for me to talk myself out of this blessing!

    New Here!

I have not have surgery yet, but I am sooooo ready for it! I, too, am able to lose about 30 pounds and than nothing. It is a chain reaction for me...lose a few pounds, become depressed, than gain. An ongoing cycle that cease to end, but I am ready to have my procedure that will aid me in becoming an healthier, smaller me!
