  1. Don't be bummed 40 is still good!I was sleeved on November 7th so I am 3 weeks ahead of you and I am down 45 lbs since day of surgery. I was 218 and am now 173 I am working out more in hopes of bumping up my loss.My surgeon is still pretty impressed with my loss and he said it is good for someone starting from where I did <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> You are doing great the scale is moving in the right direction !

You are doing great! Forty pounds is a lot! Try picking up forty pounds and you'll see.

I know how you're feeling. I felt the same way. Just keep eating right and exercising and the weight will go.

  2. It is our own personal journey. I had to say that to myself over and over again. For those of you who are losing at a slower rate, you are still losing! That is a good thing. I am losing average according to my physician. On this sit,e I am losing slowly compared to others. However, as I said before, it is our own personal journey. Here is a before picture and then after picture.

  3. Hey haven't been on in a while...have lost 63lbs and I went shopping on Sunday. I am in size 16 jeans and size 14 top...I got so excited I took a picture in the dressing room and sent it to everyone I know...when I drop 20 more pounds I am going to treat myself and buy an outfit at Ann Taylor

Do it, girl. Congratulations! I love Ann Taylor.

I treated myself to a size 12 Michael Kors dress. I'm not in it yet, but if I stay the course, I'll be in it soon. It has become my goal dress. You inspire me. Going to make taco Soup for dinner.< /p>

  4. Hey guys,

    1. Great Value Italian Style Meatballs in a crockpot with cream of mushroom Soup. Six is a serving. I can only eat three.

2, chicken thighs, no skin or bones in a crock pot with hot BBQ Sauce & cranberry sauce.

    3. Chicken taco soup. The recipe is on the VST site. Go to the home page and do a search.

    4. Benetino's Bistro Sensations Chicken Links. One link is a serving and that's all I can eat.

    5. Red pepper hummus and celery.

That's my list and I'm excited to hear more suggestions.

  5. Can anyone tell me their daily calorie and carb intake? I've been in a stall and my nut said not to worry about anything but my Protein. I'm looking for ways to break this stall and keep the weight coming off.

I was in a stall for about 4 weeks on top of not losing very quickly. It was emotionally upsetting. I increased the amount of protein I was getting in. My daily goal is now 50-60. Protein Shakes work best for me. I also ramped up my exercise schedule. I do four 45 minute aerobic workouts and one weight workout per week. The scale began to move again.

Keep it up. You will make it. I know it's disheartening, just visualize yourself as the thinner, healthier you. The scale will move again.

  6. I also' date=' have not posted in a while because, like Tina, I was quite sick and in back in the hospital. So I got off my exercise routine and will start again today. Still losing weight though, but I am not enjoying any foods. I stay under 600 calories everyday.

Freja, (Meishe) I admire your exercise routine. It is impeccable. I am following you on my fitness pal and you are my role model.

    The weight will come off.

I was sleeved Dec. 6 and am down 39 pounds.

    All my best to all.[/quote']

I finally broke my stall. That was 5 painful weeks. It turns out, I needed to increase my Protein an Water intake. I also amped up my exercise regimen. Just glad to be going down again! Congratulations on getting to onederland. I will be ecstatic when I get there.

  7. Hello, thank U everybody for your kind words and encouragement. After discussing this with my nutritionist and my doctor, I feel better. They are basically saying the same things most of you are saying. It is a personal journey. We will lose at different rates. With that said, I will keep plugging along following their orders and doing what I'm supposed to do. Eventually, I will reach my goal.

  8. I sent you a private message. You may want to do what I'm doing and start weighing once a week. As long as you are going down' date=' don't worry about how fast you are losing. However, you may want to try and get in more Protein and definitely more Water. I am drinking at least 8 glasses a day (64 oz) between my meals. I don't drink with my meals (same as band), but I do start my day with drinking a large cup (3 or 4 glasses) before I eat breakfast. I take my prilosec (doctor gave me enough for 2x a day for 60 days, but I've missed some at night). This ensures me getting in water before noon. I then have the rest of the day to get in the rest. I always have a water bottle with me in the car wherever I go. I work with patients in Physical Therapy so no time to drink that much at work, but I do keep a bottle of water handy, so I can go over and take a sip when my patients want me to get water for them. I was trying to drink this much water before I had surgery, because I notice a difference in my energy level, my skin, and just overall body functions.

I also did not have to do a strict liquid only pre-op. My doctor wanted me to do low carb, high protein and I did that loosely, so I was only down about 1.5 lbs. before my surgery. I feel healthy and I'm losing all over. I've lost pounds but I definitely have shrunk in inches. I didn't measure (dumb me) but my trainer measured me, so I will have measurements now. Again, I decided to free myself from the scale and only do a 1x a week weigh in. I also am not competing against others but concentrating on the lifestyle change and plugging away. The biggest competitor I have is my own former bad habits, emotional eating, etc. These are the things that I need to leave behind!!

Well, keep on plugging away and we WILL reach our goal!!![/quote']

    Well said! I concur.

  9. Wow. Where to begin? Sitting at home with the family waiting for the ball to drop. All of us are very sleepy. We made sleep 2013 in.

So far so good. I'm scared of stalls so I avoid weighing in. I get my work outs in and stick to my two ounces of mushy Protein three times a day. My clothes are much more loose. I will suck it up and weigh in tomorrow.

The book I ordered arrived today. Perfect timing! it's called Eating Well after Weight-loss surgery. I will begin reading it tomorrow.

I am looking forward to a healthier 2013.

  10. I totally understand. I'm 4 weeks out and have the same experience. I no longer have the sick feeling because I measure out 2 ounces of food and eat no more than that. My friend said this is the mental part of the change. Teaching our minds that the amount we have is enough. My question is "how long does it take the stomach to heal?" I ordered the book Eating After Weight Loss Surgery. Hopefully, the recipes in the book will help provide tasty, Protein packed meals.

  11. Hi Freja' date=' if you are on full liquids you can add fruit to your shakes, just make sure they blend well and chew up any chunks well before you swallow. For meals try this website, not sure if you've heard of it before. It's by a lady that had gastric bypass years ago and has a ton of great recipes. You should be able to find plenty of ideas on there for dinner. Good luck!! http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/[/quote']

Thanks for the link. It is phenomenal.

  12. Hello all,

I am four weeks post sleeve and on the purée / mushy diet plan. The problem is since the sleeve, I cannot tolerate eggs. I eat them in any form and I'm sick. I've been sucking down one Protein Shake with Lactaid a day for Breakfast. I usually have tuna or refried Beans with cheese and guac for lunch. dinner is becoming a challenge. The problem is I would like to add a little fruit to the Protein shake for flavor. Is that ok? What other meals can I eat for dinner? I miss fruit and vegetables. Are there any that are ok? Stir fry veggies are my favorite. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  13. My dr's rule is no food until day 14. So I haven't eaten yet. I am on what's considered "full liquids" Bariatric Advantage shakes 3 times a day I use 4oz skim and 4oz Water and it makes each shake 31g protien. I can have blended FF cream Soups and instant potatoes thinned as long as I can pour it through a strainer. I am doing well with it. I start food soft/blended food on Wednesday the 12th and yes I am counting the days. It's been 4 weeks since I have chewed anything. I was on a pre-surgical diet as well. But it's all been worth it I have already gone from a 26 to a 20!!!!

    So any food tips for ME??? <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

On day 7, my doctor transitions us to mushy food. We'll be on mush for 4 weeks. Fat free retried Beans, tuna with low-fat dressing, blended crab with lemon juice are some of the foods I'm having.. Also, whenever I eat, I move afterwards. Makes digestion easier. Do not drink with meals. Wait 30 minutes.
