  1. Don't waist your money; all it does is make you lose Water weight and it compresses your skin to make it look like you lost inches....next day you'll be right back to where you were. Picture a rubber band around your wrist, how it leaves the dent for awhile....same concept. Exercise, dry rubs and lotion.

  2. I know exactly how you feel, but once you have the surgery food won't matter much to you....at least not for awhile. I'm 3 weeks out and haven't been hungry yet. I have to set a timer to remind myself to eat every 3 hrs. or i'd go all day without eating. Now I am able to eat the same things I used to, but I can only eat 1/4c. so I make better choices now in order to meet my nutrition requirements. I used to be a huge ice cream fan, ate it every night....but now, don't even think about it. Don't think of any sweets really. I had one piece of chocolate and I was good, didn't crave more, didn't really do anything for me. I had the surgery due to diabetes, which was gone the day after surgery.....and now I'm down 21 lbs. last time I checked and I no longer feel like I'm a stroke or heart attach waiting to happen. It truly is the best thing I've done for myself. You will feel the same, I'm sure. Just remember, is food or your family and life more important??? Good luck on your journey, everyone here can and will support you when you need it.

  3. I am only 3 weeks out but was given 700 calories/day, less than 40g of carbs; and 50-70+ Protein, 48-64 oz of liquids, and was told not to worry about sugars, fats, or anything else....and I specifically asked for myfitnesspal so I could make sure I stay where I'm supposed to. But every Dr./Nut is different. I've lost a lb. a day so far :)

  4. Sounds like they need to be educated a little more on the surgery and how just "not so easy" it truly is. Maybe you should have them visit the site and read all the posts. When my aunt had gastric bypass 2 years ago I had the same thought, "she's taking the easy way out. If I can't lose it on my own, I must not want it bad enough".....but I do want it, and failed for over 10 years now to lose. After seeing all the problems my aunt had, who honestly didn't follow any of the rules given and being 2 years out and still throwing up with most foods..I really didn't want to have the surgery. But then I was diagnosed with diabetes and decided to research, as I really didn't want the gastric bypass. I am almost 4 weeks now with my sleeve and am so glad I did it. I left the hospital off my diabetes medication, and the weight and inches are coming off steadily. I have had absolutely no problems at all, other than still trying get all my liquids in. I feel very lucky though, as some haven't been so lucky. But everyone is different and as long as you're prepared and ready for this journey, you will do great. And soon enough, when they see how great you're doing....I bet they may just rethink it themselves to. I think they're just scared is all. Anyway, good luck and I wish you the best.

  5. I am 3 weeks out and I have a Protein Shake for Breakfast, egg/ham mini-muffins (x2) or cream cheese for morning snack, then chicken, meatballs, ham/cheese roll ups, beans/cheese or something like that for lunch and dinner. My Protein shake in the morning gives me 1/2 of my protein for the day....then I try to eat something with at least 6g. of protein every 3-4 hours....once I get all my protein in for the day, I focus on liquids. Which I'm still only getting in about 32 oz. of......still working on increasing that. It's harder that it sounds. lol

  6. You should only weigh once a week, then you won't notice those little stalls. You should also take your measurements, because when you're not losing weight you're probably losing inches....your body has to catch up to! I had lost 7" in 12 days, will be doing them again plus taking new pics next Wed. at 4 weeks out to better see the changes my body is making. Good luck to you both...don't fret about the stalls...it's all part of the process.

  7. Try Premier Protein, have 160 cag. 1g. fat, 3 carbs and 30g. protein; they are pre-made and are pretty good. I get them at Sams club. And don't forget, you can add 2 tsp. of sugar-free Jello or pudding mix to them to get a variety of flavors. vanilla with lemon pudding mix is the bomb; chocolate with cherry jello mix tasted like cordial cherries....just to name a few. Good luck on your surgery and hope you have a smooth recovery.

  8. Actually smoking can cause ulcers in your stomach, and make healing more difficult. My aunt quit prior to her surgery because they wouldn't do it unless she did; she then went right back to it and had a bleeding ulcer and was told to quit or it would never heal.

  9. Congrats! My advice, remember why you're having surgery and keep you eye on the prize. The post-op pain, diet, etc. sucks and gets old quick, but it gets better everyday and soon you will be eating normal foods again just a much smaller portion. Breathe deep, try to remain calm, and enjoy the ride. Good luck and I hope you have a quick and smooth recovery.

  10. Hello, I would not say the sleeve is starvation. Yes you have to do a liquid diet for awhile, but by a year out you are able to eat a regular meal. You are to eat Protein first to help keep your muscle, then veggies for nutrients, and by then you'll be too full for carbs/sugar. It is a change that you have to commit to, because it is just a tool. Personally, I think it's the safest tool of all the WLS just because your stomach will work the same as it always has, just be smaller. There is no rerouting of the intestines, which can cause malnutrition. And always take your Vitamins. I love my sleeve, and I don't feel like I'm starving at all, cause I'm never hungry. :D
