I'm Ready To Begin The Adventure Of My Life!

Hi nancer, I am also beginning my journey. I have fini. shed all my tests and will hopefully have surgery on 12/19/12, which can't come soon enough for me. You will find a great support system here. Feel free to ask questions, and although everyone is different I'm sure you can find answers to all of them. Good luck on your journey and I wish you a speedy recovery.

    Huuuge Legs And Bum

Try ankle weights, you can find some thin ones that you can wear under your pants that noone will notice; especially if you do alot of walking anyway might as well add some resistance, will help firm up those leg muscles. You can also try light resistance activities with a thera-band. Good luck!
  12. Hi Marilyn, welcome to the group. I am fairly new here myself but there is tons of information and support. There are a lot of great people here and they don't mind if you vent when your feeling down or praise yourself when you have NSVs....it's great to have so much support when you're going through something like this, especially if you don't really have support from those closest to you. Good luck and enjoy your journey!
  13. Can't ask for anything better than that. Good job!
  14. My aunt lost almost all of her hair, broke off. So she cut it pretty short and wore wigs for awhile. Now her hair is thickening and growing back out....but she still wears her wigs. Think she likes to be a different person every day. lol

Support System Or Lack There Of...

I'm right there with you. I'm having mine on 12/19 if all goes as planned. My husband tries to act supportive, but he doesn't have a clue either. His only fear is that I'll die on the table.....that was literally his only question for the surgeon "how many people have died on your table?". I did so much research, both on the surgery and on the surgeon, and am positive that I'm doing the right WLS with the right surgeon. I told my husband if he loves me then he should want me around for as long as I can be, and that the risks of me not having the surgery far out way the risks of the surgery itself. I'm doing it to majorly reduce my risk of having a stroke or heart attack anytime soon, and of course losing weight is a bonus. All I can say is that after it's done, he'll either hop on board and be supportive, or he'll move on. Either way, you have to do what's right for you and your health and hope it brings y'all closer in the long run. Good luck!
  17. I totally understand where you are coming from. I weigh today the same as I did when we got married 7 years ago; and I know he likes a heavier set woman. He told me straight out he's not looking forward to the saggy skin (my aunt had RNY done 2 years ago and hers is really bad, but she was quite a bit heavier than I am) but I told him if he loves me then he would want me to be around as long as I can be, which if I don't have this surgery won't be long at all. He says he understands, and he tries to show support, but deep down he just doesn't get it. But it is what it is, and if he doesn't like the new healthy, skinny, energetic me....saggy skin and all, then I guess he can go on his way. I will be just fine, because I will be alive!
  18. Good luck!! Let us know how you do and have a fast and painless recovery

    People Are Nicer

That just shows how judgemental people truly are. I was thin until I hit 30, then it all went down hill. But even at my smallest I NEVER treated anyone badly due to their weight, maybe because I had a 350 lbs. aunt (who is now 150 after her RNY). All I can say is what comes around goes around and those people will have their own heartache eventually.

    Yeah, For Me

Way to go! I'm hoping to go from a 22/24 to a 7/9 myself.

Down 30 Lbs In 6 Weeks

You're crazy girl....I can see it; you're arms are thinner as is your face and waist. Have you taken your measurements? I've heard alot of people say they will lose inches instead of weight, then go back to weight vs. inches, etc. 5 lbs. a week is awesome!

    Newbie

Good luck! WTG on the quitting smoking. You'll be just fine.
  23. Thanks for sharing. I too can't wait for these NSV moments. Keep up the good work!

    Slider Foods?!?

Things that go down easy, without pain, but have high fat/calories that your body will still absorb (ex: like ice cream, which is my downfall) or high sugar drinks, etc.
