Day 13: What are you eating?

I'm only a week out and have had a few bites of mashed potatoes, and a few bites of pintos and cheese from taco bell and didn't have any problems. Are you taking very small bites and waiting a few minutes between each one? Maybe you still have a bit of swelling in there that is causing the "stuck" feeling. I'm sure it will resolve, and don't regret it....it'll be worth it.

    Concerns

I haven't heard anyone regretting it. They may the first few weeks if they've had issues or when they're going through the different food stages, but once that's over it's all good. It's not easy, but it's worth it in the end. Just have to stay focused on the final outcome.

    Sleeved Today

Bummer! Those swabs didn't do squat for me.
  5. Hi Christie, welcome. The only thing I'd take to the hospital is a robe, socks and gas-x. As far as limitations, you may want someone with you the first day or 2 just because it can be hard to sit/stand due to the incisions, I was told no lifting over 5 lbs. and limited bending/twisting for 3 weeks post-op. So if I drop something or whatever, I'd do a squat and work my legs As far as tips, if you have gas pain in your shoulders, back roll your shoulders back and forth and squeeze them together, it really helped relieve it alot. I also rubbed my stomach in circles, lightly, just to help move the gas around. I honestly didn't have any pain after surgery and didn't require any pain meds at all, the worst part for me was the dry mouth. I asked for a cup of ice water w/ an empty cup so I could swish it around my mouth and spit it out and promised I wouldn't swallow any of it, and they let me, which was awesome. Other than that's, it's been a breeze. Just trying to get all my protein and liquids in. I'm one week out today and am down 10 lbs. Good luck!!

My mouth was sooo dry. I asked for ice water and an extra cup so I could swuish it in my mouth and spit it out; they let me as long as I promised not to swallow any.

    Surgery tomorrow

Just breath, you will be fine. Only thing you need is a robe, socks, gas-x. I was starving when I went in, but I"m never hungry now and it's liberating. Good luck and just keep your eye on the prize!
  8. They only say no sugar due to the extra calories it brings. From what I hear, you can pretty much eat and drink anything your stomach can tolerate. Just be careful, or you will gain!

2 days away from my surgery date!

Hi Kara, we have very close stats, except I'm 41. lol I was sleeved on 12/19 and am so happy I did. I have no hunger and am down 10 lbs. already. Good luck on your journey...keep us informed of how you're doing.
  12. Hi ShyV, I am also down 10 lbs., just remember the slower you lose the less saggy skin you'll have after. Also, I hope you took your measurements, cause when we hit our stalls our bodies will adjust in inches. I have no regrets, and haven't been hungry at all since the day of. Even breezed through Christmas.

    Dec 26

You will do great Ortega. I was sleeved on 12/19 and am loving it. I have no hunger, food has no interest to me at the moment, although I can't wait to be off the protein shakes and be able to eat some real food. Your new tummy will not allow you to cheat, and if you do it'll let you know. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a quick recovery. Just some advice, roll your shoulders for any gas pain in the chest/back/shoulders...it helped me alot!
  19. Merry Christmas Everybody!!

  20. Would love to hear from all my fellow sleevers to see how they're doing. I was sent home the next day and haven't had any problems yet, just napping alot. Weighed this am and am down 10 lbs!!

    LIQUID PROTEIN

I was told not to do protein shots because they are a different type of protein and that your body can only absorb so much at one time, so it's kind of a waste.
  22. I was sleeved 12/19, left the hospital on full liquids and was told I could add mashed taters, yogurt, soups, and cream of wheat on 12/26. But I'm having a spoonful of potato soup on xmas day. I weighed on 12/23 and was down 10 lbs.
  23. Hi Letty, welcome to the forum. It is great for support. I started a little higher weight than you and also tried losing it on my own for 10+ years and never could do it, not permanently anyway. So I did a ton of research and decided on the sleeve, then researched my surgeon. I was sleeved on 12/19, am down 10 lbs. already and am not hungry at all. It's nice to have control back. I would suggest having the surgery, if you've tried and failed time and time again...this is one thing that you can't fail at....at least not for a few years anyway. Good luck on your journey!

    sleeved on 12/21

Congrats. I was sleeved 12/19. For the gas, I would do shoulder rolls and rubbed circles on my stomach to move it around. You can also use gas-x strips to. Are you eating already?? I'm on liquids until Wed;, then I can have strained soups, cream of wheat, eggs, yogurt w/o fruit. Things do get better. I have no pain, no nausea, and haven't had any trouble. Just do the best you can and try to get all your protein and liquids in so you don't dehydrate.

    My story begins

Congrats. I was sleeved on the 19th. You only have a gain due to all the liquids they pushed during your surgery and don't forget all the swelling. I weighed yesterday and was down 10 lbs. A word of advise, don't get on the scale everyday, you will drive yourself crazy. I wasn't planning on weighing until Wed. but couldn't resist. I will weigh again on Wed., then once a week afterwards. It's also a good idea to take measurements, because when you're in a stall your body will lose inches to adjust. Good luck!!
