  1. "You know, I have to be honest, you've really let yourself go."

You should really let him see how much you let yourself "Go" right out the door!

I don't know why I started thinking about Gloria Gaynor's song, I will survive.......

.......Oh, no, not I, I will survive Oh, as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive I've got all my life to live, I've got all my love to give And I'll survive, I will survive, hey, hey......

If he said this once, it may be excusable, if it's constant it may be time for a change.

    Good luck. You look fabulous!

  2. Hey all,

Because of projects at my work I am slated to have my surgery most likely after June 1st. I am in the 3 month pre-op diet required for my insurance. I was wondering if any of you would mind sharing how long it took you to be well enough to get back to work after sleeving (laparoscopic), absent any major complications of course. I'm just trying to get a general idea.

Also, I am in a long distance relationship. My fiance is half a world away and we are waiting for him to get his immigrant visa so he can come live with me in the US. Because he's from a developing country it's impossible for him to get a tourist visa to visit me here so I can only visit him while we wait. Does anyone have any advice about how long [how many months] you should wait before traveling internationally? This is of course also absent any serious complications.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :D

I was out for 3 weeks, but felt good enough to return to work the next week. I didn't have any pain, gas or discomfort.

For traveling Internationally it is probably important to know where you are traveling to and flying hours. I don't know how soon after your surgery you plan to travel, but depending on the length of the flight you may run the risk of blood clots. Flights lasting 8-10 hours or longer pose a greater risk. I would pose these questions to your surgeon.

  3. I'm currently having Minoxidil applied by my stylist weekly, and it does seem like there is less shedding, but I'm not quite sure if it is as a direct result of the product or my body getting accustomed to the weight loss. My dermatologist suggested that I use it (she suggested the less expensive Walmart brand Equate), she also stated that the Hair loss is temporary.

  4. Equality House. :).

I read the article yesterday, I love when Aaron purchased the place how he said some of the church members were so cordial and pleasant.......nothing like a wolf in sheepskin clothing.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

  5. Amen to Gman and Rycherchick! It's called growth and evolving......my mother always told me everybody is not going to be your friend, no truer words have ever been uttered. My friends and family have all been supportive no matter what size. My work colleagues have been amazing. For me the physical size of my friends and their support does not even fit into the equation.

  6. I'm sorry you are dealing with this, losing a parent is such an incredibly painful experience, and there is no other love like that of a mother. Continue to spend as much time as possible with your mom and continue to talk and touch her, I'm sure you are already doing this. This is most likely one of the biggest stressor of your lifetime. Everyone is different but what I found that helped me during this time was having the constant support of friends and family, lean on them when you can and I also created mental diversions which were listening to music and watching the most ridiculously silly comedies when possible. Like Leeann states above don't bottle your emotions, cry......it does help.

I'll be praying for you and your family.

  7. I too would be a bit concerned first because the rash of cruise ship problems and certainly would not want to be on one if by chance there is an outbreak of norovirus. Secondly, if there are complications it may be very difficult to get you to a good hospital or possibly back to the US. I would definitely inquire with the cruise line about how they handle medical emergencies.

  8. Are these people truly your friends? Sometimes you have to go through something to truly find out who is in your corner. While I have experienced nothing but support, I would certainly confront these people and tell them how you feel and that you don't appreciate this type of behavior. People will continue to do this until you put them on notice. Now your family on the otherhand, just embrace them and love them I'm sure they will come around some day when they see you healthier.

  9. How has WLS affected your sexuality? It hasn't for me, I have always had a very healthy sexual attitude and appetite. I've embraced my body at every size that I've been.

Do you feel sexier and how are you dealing with all the new male attention? No, I feel the same.

    :)
