Wow $4500 and that includes hospital and airline fees? I would have a problem with anyone who needed an interpreter to communicate with me for such a critical operation. Glad you are ok.

Consult with your physician. You will continue to get mixed responses because every Physician has different Pre-op instructions. For instance my surgeon did not require a Pre-op diet.

I think the best person to diagnose your illness is your physician. I don't think any of us on the board are qualified to give you a qualified virtual diagnosis. Follow your Doctors instructions, if you don't fell better within a reasonable amount of time, call for a follow up visit.

I don't think its the point that I will be eating like a bird..lol.but I am only telling a few family members let alone co workers.
Just tell the truth, it really isn't that difficult. If you are concerned tell management that it is your wish that the details of your surgery remain private. The bottom line is that people are going to talk whether it be good or bad, in my opinion when you lie you give them power and invites gossip.

Every surgeon has specific instructions, however the instructions vary from surgeon to surgeon. Some surgeons require Pre surgery diet for months, others 2 weeks, some none, some surgeons only require multi-vitamins others a laundry list.. I would wait until you meet with your surgeon, otherwise you will drive yourself crazy.

Hey, Geminidrive - I am going Dr. Bertha too! He's great.
I really liked Dr. Bertha he is very thorough! Did you go to your Pre-op class? I had my surgery at St. Peter's. I stay in contact with a few people that had surgery from his office. When is your surgery?

I have plenty of clothes at various sizes. For my work clothing since they are very good quality, I plan to have the clothing tailored. Once I outgrow the sweats and tees, I'll donate to the Vietnam Veterans of America.

I informed my manager as soon as I made the decision to have surgery. She and other select co-workers have been extremely supportive. I only told a few other than my manager because I didn't want to field questions from my other colleagues prior to the surgery because it would be distracting and I needed to focus on work because it was a very busy at work. I have no problem telling everyone that I had Weight loss surgery when I return on Monday. You think people won't notice you are eating like a bird now? LOL

I get full very quickly and I know if I eat something that is prohibited I can get sick. Not getting sick or throwing up are my greatest motivators besides getting healthy.

Thanks for your replies. I was trying to see if there is a common denominator (vitamin/nutrient deficiency) from the masses. Physician post-op Vitamin recommendations are all over the map.

Why don't you sit down with the tattoo artist to design something that embodies your life, your discipline and dedication to your weight loss journey. Your two heads together you can come up with something unique. Good luck?

I was able to drive as long as I was not taking pain medicine. I had no pain so I was able to drive Wednesday following Monday's surgery.

For those who have experienced hair loss what types of Vitamins were you instructed to take post-op? Did you add any additional Vitamins to your daily regimen?
Seems to me that surgeons/Nutritionists post op Vitamin intake instructions vary among those on the board who have had surgery. Please share your experience.
Thanks.

Hi all, I had my surgery 10/8/2012, no problems at all, no pain no gas. I feel like I haven't had any surgery at all. I'm down 16lbs weighed on 10/17. I have not weighed myself since but plan to do so 10/31.

You should call your doctor now.

I hate the Greek yogurt also, not very appealing, but I add a pomegranate or fruit punch crystal lite package and then I have a flavored yogurt. Test to see how sweet/tart you like the yogurt. This makes it very palatable for me.

My surgeon's instructions were 6 months after the surgery for caffeine and alcohol intake. I also had to sign a disclosure advising of the negative effects of alcohol and consequences after vertical sleeve surgery. As much as I love a good cocktail, I'll wait. Not interesting in doing anything that could cause me harm.

Are you asking about brand or specific Vitamins advised by our surgeon? What have your surgeon and Nutritionist advised?

Walk, walk, walk, walk......exercise and distraction.

Isn't she just a temp? I wouldn't stress about this, you are going to be out of the office for 2 weeks, someone has to fill the void to get the work done. When you are out on vacation, who fills the void?

For those who have had problems digesting certain foods, were you forewarned by your surgeon or Nutritionist to stay away from certain foods like nuts, corn, rice, etc.?
