    tptacnik,
Not to be a critic (it's very hard to type text and not come across critical, maybe someone can teach me to type compassionately ), but I hope you made your post in fun. Because 2/10's of a pound can be any number of things, including whether you weigh wearing socks and shirt (or like me, go commando! ), your scale's calibration, you drank more Water than usual, or you had some salty food.
I'm a 2 year Sleeve veteran and my weight loss was never in a straight line downward. Even when I was as strict as possible about my exercise and diet, there would be days or weeks where my weight would stay the same or even go up a little. I just had to let my body do it's own thing.
After a few experiences (and a lot of anxiety - I had lots of "Oh My God, is this all I'm going to lose?" moments), I figured out that if I just stayed with what was working, it would start working again... and it still does.
    Hope this helps,
    Randy

I'm only 2 months post surgery and woke up this morning and had GAINED two-tenths of a pound...I know in the scheme of things it doesn't sound like a lot but I have worked so hard for the 37lbs that I have lost and I cannot understand how I could have ANY KIND OF GAIN...it made me sick to my stomach to see it. I don't know what could have caused it, not currently having any hormonal fluctuations...having a real hard time just letting it go...I had to borrow money from family to have the surgery and all I want to do is succeed...

164.2 this morning. Down 1.4 pounds. Weight loss is sloooow and steady. Not sure if I will make my 156 goal. I will be happy to make it to 159 and officially enter the 150's. Can I change it?

Had my breast reduction & axillary liposuction on Monday. I weighed myself before leaving for the hospital: 139. I stayed 3 1/2 days, ate almost nothing while there and came home weighing 140.2. How can you gain weight after they cut (and suck) out at least 2 - 3 lbs? ( I know, I know, Water weight blah blah blah. But that's only supposed to happen to other people, not the special snowflake that is me.)
I am going to report 140 for today, and not the extra tenths. Because I'm mad darn it.

Lisa -- what about thinking of some replacements for these triggers? Maybe replace the separate cups of coffee and Protein drinks with Protein coffee? I drink Click, and there's another called Chike. They're tasty on their own, but you can blend in sugar-free Creamers or flavors to make it taste more like an indulgent drink. If you combine the coffee drink and Protein Drinks, reducing your overall quantity in a day, you reduce your calorie intake. As for the fudgecicles, perhaps switch to diet hot chocolate? One packet is 20-25 calories, and you still get that chocolate flavor. If it's the Popsicle you want, maybe switch to 10 calorie sugar-free Popsicles.
I agree with others that you need to take a hard look at this before it gets too out of hand, and while you should have grace for yourself, you should not allow your husband's passing to cause you to make excuses when it comes to your health and eating. Counseling is a great idea, but I've also been very helped by a local GriefShare class. New semesters will start in January. Take one day at a time, and perhaps begin tracking again so you can keep those liquid and snack calories in check.

My post-holiday weigh-in was 187. Darn it! I knew the scale would move this week, but that wasn't the way I wanted it to go. :/
I know this extra bit will go fast because I'm so carb sensitive since surgery, and I seem to swell up with any kind of travel. We traveled for the holiday, and I allowed myself a tiny pie sampler on Thanksgiving day and bread on three occasions. As an aside, I used to laugh at people who would say they'd need to spend an extra hour in the gym for a cookie, but now I know that's a real thing.
Anyway, I'm now home and focused on Protein and fluids again, hoping that this gain (plus more) will flush away fast.

I'm sorry I'm late weighing in again for the 11/28 weigh-in. We were travelling for the holiday. My weight for this week is 140, which is down a pound. That is pretty much a "Thanksgiving miracle" ......lol.... but I'll take it!

VSG AJH got a reaction from morgana47 in Surgery with a leg cast !?
I was put in double walking boots last November, one month before my sleeve surgery in December. I had Charcot foot in both feet, and needed to have the bones stabilized for a minimum of three months. Though I was in double boots, I was able to walk and move, so I was able to do the ten minutes of movement every hour following my sleeve surgery. I also took Heparin injections for the first ten days post-op. The foot issues did not slow my initial weight loss, but two more foot surgeries this year, along with strict restrictions since, has slowed my weight loss. Still, though I've been practically immobile for almost 9 of the last 11+ months, I've lost 85 pounds this year. I'm frustrated by my currently slow weight loss, but I am so thankful for my sleeve because crawling up stairs and maneuvering on one foot is SO much easier than it would have been 85 pounds ago. Just today, I've had some restrictions lifted, allowing me to walk again, and I'm hopeful that my continued focus in the kitchen, along with some physical activity, will get the scale to trend downward once again. FYI -- I can't remember her name now, but a year ago, there was a wheelchair-bound young lady on here who indirectly inspired me to move forward. She wasn't able to get up and move around, but her surgeon was able to formulate a good plan for her to prevent DVTs. By the time I encountered her, she's lost a ton of weight, and was so much happier and healthier.

Chelenka -- I am so, so sorry to read about your mom. My mom passed away 2.5 years ago from Oat Cell Carcinoma, an inoperable, aggressive type of lung cancer. Those days of caring for her were so difficult for me, and I'm praying for you that you're able to make the time to keep making good choices for your health. Many cancer centers offer support group meetings for families. Also, food-wise, this might be a really good time to do a little meal prep (or allow hubby + friends to help with this). I was pre-sleeve when my mom was sick, but thinking back, life was so emotionally difficult and physically challenging that we relied on lots of takeout. If you can do it, it might be worth grilling up a bunch of chicken or buying precooked meat, Protein bars and shakes, steamer bags of veg, proportioned fruit, etc. so you have good things ready to go. I know you know these things, but it is just so important you keep taking care of YOU while you take care of her, and that is very hard to do.

Susan -- I'd like to jump in, too, if you don't mind. I've been stalled for months following orthopedic surgery and immobility. I'm healing now, and as I'm moving more, the scale seems like it might start wiggling. I weighed 184 on 11/7 and 11/14, and I'll weigh in again (and post) tomorrow.
I was sleeved on 12/03/13 with a 267 start weight. My goal is 134, but I'd like to be at 174 by 01/02/15, so ten pounds down.

This is such a huge milestone for me. I'm not at goal yet and still have about 20 lbs to go but... I've lost a hundred pounds!! Had my band taken out and the sleeve done on the same day last year December 30th. I feel so much better even though I have my battle wounds. I'll likely have to have my arms done at some point but for now I'm in a size 8 and I am very proud of myself. Thank u for being here for me along the way.

I'm interested if anyone has and funny sleeve stories. I have one aready and am willing to share.
I've been self conscious about taking my shirt off in public for a long time. Since I started the process for surgery I decided that NOW was the time to change all that. I started a gym membership and began working out. For the longest I would'nt change at the gym. Since surgery, I decided to go for it and change there to make my life a bit easier.
I'm an old Marine SF Recon grunt. I served in the 1st Gulf war. I've got a few scars on my chest and back from past advetures and now I have these cuts from surgery.
On the 1st day I changed at the gym there were about 3 young men in their 20's getting changed and ready for a basketball game. I took my shirt off and started to get ready. They got really quiet and were looking at my surgery scars. I was getting a bit self conscious when one of them spoke up and said, "DUDE!! What the heck happened to you?" I'm always up for pulling a good joke on someone. So. with my best Marine War Face said, "Knife Fight." and walked away.
I don't think any of those young men got anywhere close to me during my workout.
It took everything I had not to laugh.
    That's mine... what's yours?

VSG AJH reacted to livvsmum in 14 Months Post Op Pic - 140 pounds & holding
Sorry...that's supposed to read "140 pounds lost and holding" but it wouldn't let me edit the title.....
I haven't updated in a while, so I thought I would share a pic I snapped from this morning, a little over 14 months post op. I've lost 140 pounds and I am holding steady, rocking a size 4!!! I would love to lose 5 more, but hey....considering where I started, if I never lose another pound, I am ok with that too. My life has definitely transformed in a lot of ways. I have more confidence, more energy, I've run a 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon, and am currently training for my first full marathon, and I'm healthy which is one of the best parts! I know that I have a much better chance of being around for a long time for my kids. I've learned a ton about myself, loving myself, and my vices through this process.
Good luck to all of you at the beginning or in the middle of this crazy journey!

VSG AJH reacted to Chelenka in SAGGY ASS
I beg your pardon for the title but a young person of the male gender (won't refer to him as a man since that implies a level of maturity that he obviously doesn't possess) hollered at me whilst I was riding my bike "you have a saggy ass so you better move it!" Although it is true that I have a saggy ass and many other saggy body parts, I've gotten complacent I guess about fitting in with regular, non-obese, folks and was rather taken aback. Having been obese and for my entire life I have been on the receiving end of many a cruel remark or look of disgust, pointing, stares, snickering, even unwanted groping, more times than I can count, sometimes from members of my own family. I usually turned the other cheek and went on my way. Today, however, I found myself boiling over with anger. I caught up to said young person of the male gender at a stop light and yelled at him "my saggy ass is better than your flat dick!" Then I stood up on the pedals and rode furiously away. I'm feeling a bit ashamed of myself for stooping so low.

My sister in law takes pleasure in bringing everyone around her down. Her favorite target is me. I was in a very dark place at my highest weight. She loved to talk about me to friends and family members.
I use her as my motivation to keep going. I am so happy and living life I don't have time for the toxic people that just can't find their own happiness.
My biggest feck her is reaching my goal and running in the race for the cure. I'm doing this in memory of my mother in law and my mother. Can't wait!

Had my surgery in April 2013 and my life is unrecognisable from then until now. My mind is unrecognisable never mind my body, lol. I am happy and nothing in life is a problem...
Luckily for me that's what keeps me smiling when an acquaintance repeatedly tells mutual friends she is just waiting for me to "pile the weight back on".
Hell will be freezing over before I give her the satisfaction of seeing me gain a pound. But what a sad life she must have if taking pleasure in waiting for someone to fail is the highlight of her life.
The old me would have fretted about whether she might have a point. The new me says "feck her". And if she ever says it to my face, that's the gist of what I will say to her. Not very sophisticated - but I think it would be very effective in shutting her up once and for all!

VSG AJH reacted to LipstickLady in Some unexpected NSVs have me LOLing in public. You?
So yesterday I was at the grocery and I grabbed a hand basket thinking I was only getting a few things. A few turned into a bunch and my basket was quite heavy about halfway through the market. I hefted my basket up onto my hip (which used to be quite ample) and it slid right down my leg. Hmmm.... I tried again. And again. I seriously couldn't figure out WHY my basket didn't rest comfortably on my side like it always has. It took about 3 minutes of pondering this phenomenon before I realized I no longer have big wide cushiony hips on which to rest whatever it is I might need to carry. I seriously chortled with glee startling the produce man. HA!

Last week I had a girls' weekend away with my besties. We loaded up the luggage cart with all our stuff and I took my usual place behind the cart as the one who is designated to push it through the lobby. (I'm the only one who can be trusted not to mow innocent people down.) I couldn't budge it. I pushed and I heaved and I shoved that cart and it wouldn't move. I pulled it with all my might. Nope. One hundred plus pounds less of me wasn't going to move it no matter how hard I tried. So bizarre.
The ocean was another weird experience for me. I was a lifeguard growing up, both ocean and pool. I am a swimmer and I was even at my fattest. This summer was my first summer in 20+ years "thin". I was tossed around like a rag doll, totally off balance, barely able to gain footing because there is so much less of me. Oh, and I no longer float like I used to. In fact, I sink like a stone unless I give it a whole lotta effort. SO SO not what I'm used to.

I love the NSVs like fitting in a theater seat with my purse next to me, shopping in any store, passing by people in narrow aisles without rubbing them with my butt, etc. but some of these off the wall things really throw me off guard and it takes me a while to figure out what the heck is going on.

    You?
