VSG AJH got a reaction from Kelliekt in Success W/post-Op Breastfeeding
I'm 6 months post-op tomorrow, and my little guy turns one of the 13th. We're still going strong re: nursing (3-4 times daily, and additional sessions on demand), and have no plans to wean anytime soon. Best of luck!

I had absolutely zero trouble nursing my baby after my sleeve. You do have to be really careful about getting in your fluids, as well as your Protein, but you can do it. Hang in there, mama!!

Sun Warrior vanilla vegan Protein is delicious. I buy it at Sprouts. It's not bad when just mixed with Water, but it's super yummy as you progress and can blend it with kale, spinach, banana, PB2, etc.

185.8 this week, but I've been pumped full of Fluid following orthopedic surgery. Working hard to not feel emotionally discouraged by these fluctuations.

VSG AJH got a reaction from Gaetano930 in Surgery woes: Grandpa begged me not to have the surgery
Thank you, and yes. Even though I can rationalize the ultimate end to their lives was not directly caused by the bypass, I know there are enough links that for them, the bypass was related to their deaths. Their situations certainly contributed to my choice for VSG because I knew I wouldn't have the same absorption changes that they had, and that probably contributed to the alcoholism that led to their deaths. They both had some initial complications with their bypasses, and instead of getting the issues corrected, they chose to "cope" and self-medicate with alcohol, and their lives completely spiraled out of control. They didn't realize things would get so bad so fast, but Denise in particular couldn't keep food down (vomiting + dumping constantly), so a drink or two would hit her brain hard and fast. Wes began having seizures after his bypass, so he lost his job, went on disability, etc. His situation felt very hopeless, so he chose alcohol where Denise just kind of stumbled into it. Anyway, all of that to say that they bypass by itself did not kill them, but there is a long link back to it, and their situations contributed to my having the VSG done not once, but twice. (My initial surgeon left behind fundus in my original sleeve surgery, and when I sought help to have that complication corrected by a new surgeon, he suggested retorting my intestines and turning the pouch that had formed into a bypass. After thinking hard again about Denise and Wes and the slippery slope they ended up on, I said, "No thanks. Please just fix my sleeve," which he did one month ago.) The bypass is great and it works for so many people, but the devastation it caused for my friend was enough to make me say no to it. Since in the end, the weight loss results are pretty similar for VSG and bypass (bypass loss starts faster, but they seem to even out over time), the choice was easy for me.

181 again today. Maybe this is the bottom of a stall range? Or maybe an indication of breaking a stall and losing again? I like this number better. Anxious to keep it dropping.

186.1 today, so it looks like that stall was a real thing, and I'm on a swing up. Hope it comes off and the scale moves back down fast!

    187.4 today.
I suspected I was already in a late "three week stall" when I weighed a couple of days ago, and found my weight had not changed. Then, I landed in the ER last night after passing out at home a couple of times, and when all tests came back okay, doc suspected dehydration and pumped me full of fluids. I suspect this week's gain is from both stall + IV fluids, but I still hope it comes off quickly.

So I had my surgery and it was a success! My mom did take me to my surgery (got me there a half hour late then blamed me for not rushing her enough even though I did and got yelled for it) I called my grandpa after my surgery and he was being nice to me.I'm alright, feeling good actually although my blood pressure is a little high and heart rate is kinda low but I don't feel it and have been walking around with no problem. I have so much energy as well. Once again thank you all for your support and encouragement as well as kind words with it I regained my confidence and hope. For that I love you all!!!
