I am so sorry that you could not be sleeved as planned. Sometimes God has a different timetable that ours. Just stay focused on the goal.

I have pretty much prepared my self to just have the band removed. I'm really hoping for the revision all in one but I would rather be alive and fat than dead. I trust my surgeon to do what ever is best for me. I am so sick of my band that I believe it will just be a relief to have it out. I had it almost completely unfilled after not being able to eat (even times when I couldn't drink liquids) and I have lost another 5lbs. (it is still currently almost all the way unfilled) At this point I feel that I am doing it all on my own and the band is now more torture than it is a tool. I am pleased with the 70lbs that the band helped me lose but I do not want to vomit any more. I got married in September and I am hoping to get pregnant and I don't want to worry about the band through pregnancy.

So sorry, but also it was a great call by the doc. Revision is always more dangerous than just the sleeve and this way, you're stomach will be in great shape to have the surgery in the future. The complications can be so severe that while frustrating, it will make future surgery much safer.
You're probably on a post-op eating plan for a bit right now, then you'll be on a pre-op plan again so probably 4 - 5 months of concern. Doesnt' make it any easier, but perhaps breaking it down might help it seem less daunting?
    Good luck to you!

i was the same way. My surgery was March 15 but a week before my surgery he wanted to do a EDG an I was not happy after the results he had to unfilled my band due to scar tissues, and an ulcer which another Dr did my band. So now I am on Med until my next EDG April 22 if things r OK I will be sleeve on May 1 2013

Seems like quite a few of us have expeienced this disappointment. I feel for you.. Seriously! When I found out they took my band (in order to save my life) I went ballistic and they had to sedate me. Then I had to wait 18 months before I was cleared for the sleeve. They weren't even sure my stomach would survive.
Anyway.. Hang in there and stay positive!

I am so sorry this happened to you! But I am so glad you posted this! I am scheduled for a revision on 4/25 and I have a feeling I will be waking up to the same thing, I am terrified about re-gaining the weight I lost with the band. Please keep me posted. I wish you the best!

I'm so sorry. I know exactly how it feels to wake up and find out you have not been sleeved. I was to be sleeved on Nov. 6 and also have my gallbladder taken out. I woke to tubes down my throat, hooked up to heart monitors and the news that they could not finish my surgery. My heart rate spiked half way through surgery and they decided since they did not know the cause they should stop. I was so disappointed, but i understood. Thankfully it was nothing serious and I could be sleeved a month later. I decided to stay on my pre-op diet to get in the best shape possible for surgery. What motivated me was knowing there was an end point. A date to work toward and knowing that the "diet" was not going to last forever. I took the time to fully embrace the changes I was going to make and start on an exercise program. It is not fun to go through surgery twice, and I won't lie, it was a tough not to fall into bad emotional eating habits in the meantime. But I stayed committed. You can too! Please reach out if you need motivation or encouragement or just need to vent.
    You can do this!

I feel really bad ... i can't imagine how you must have felt, waking up and finding that you had not been sleeved. I am so sorry. However the 6 mths wait will go faster then you think and at least you can heal from the scars and know when the surgery is done it will be right. try and keep up the good work and continue to work at losing the weight .. when you have the surgery you will be that much ahead of the game. Good luck to you!

Nearly bedtime here in Scotland and I've put Hattie to bed. Had a little cry as I'll be out early to the hospital before she gets up tomorrow. Just breaking it bit by bit to her. Told her that gran and granda are staying tonight to look after her tomorrow as I've got to go out early. Hopefully I'll be ok and she can come visit in hospital tomorrow night.
Managed to get a little sleep this afternoon as I've not been sleeping right for weeks. Good luck to all the March 26th guys.
See you all on the other side xxx

Glad to hear everyone doing well and getting the fluids and Protein down.
Well my stresses continue... I posted previously about my dad drinking and hopefully we're on the right path now, he's been sober 3 days.
Now my daughters father has decided to send me an abusive idiotic text message. She is 3, he barely sees her (2hrs every 6wks) and now she is crying not wanting to go out with him and it's my fault - he's a complete imbecile. I'd laugh if I wasn't so angry.
Work has also been mega stressful and I'm going to hospital tomorrow to get a little cyst cut out my eyelid. All this while being on a preop diet.
I am actually proud how I've stuck to the diet and coped with all this pressure.
I'm hoping it means I'm due some good luck next Tues at my op.
    So scary!!!

Hey everyone things with my dad have settled down a bit with my dad, he's back at AA meetings and been to the Dr so fingers crossed we're on the right road.
I am proud of myself I've managed to keep calm and also stick to the preop diet and lost 12lbs in 1 week! Really proud and motivated.
Really awful to hear of Lifesaveremt passing away. Life's pretty unfair sometimes. All I can hope is that the odds are in my favour and weigh up the odds of living a longer, happier life after having the op.

Hey all my March sleever buddies. Sorry I have been away. I am almost two weeks post op now and have lost 19 lbs. Already feeling like a new woman.
Regarding the poor gentleman who lost his life due to blood clots. Everyone, don't let that sway you please. If you have a good surgeon and staff, they will make sure you are safe. Just do exactly what they tell you and you will be fine.
    Good luck to all.

I'm sorry that lifesavermt's journey with us was so short. My prayers and heart go out to his family and friends.
For me, this was a reminder of what can happen, however for me, not a deterrent. I agree that if I don't do this, my life is going to start going down hill fast. This surgery is my lease on a new life. I know there are risks, and I plan to do everything I can to prevent them becoming a problem for my family as well.
That being said, I have some good news, and in light of the somber mood I have been hesitant to share.
I have now completed 1 week of my pre op, liquid diet. i weighed myself this morning and have lost 13 pounds! SO excited! That means this is getting real!
Eight days until my surgery. I am counting the days.
I'm sending up prayers for all those getting sleeved in the next few days.
I will attempt to get another update to the list out tomorrow morning when I get home from work.

Wow I can feel your nerves radiating from the screen....got my fingers crossed for you all.
I remember being giddy with excitement when I was going in for my band. So different this time with my daughter to worry about.
My mum won't be able to come with me to the hospital as she'll be looking after Hattie so I need to be a big girl and be brave.

I've been in my room for 4 hrs now. Surgery went well had to fix a surprise hernia. I'm eating ice chips now. The gas pains r sitting on top of my lungs which is very hurtful. Just went for a walk. Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good considering.

Hey Presher - Happy Birthday, I love birthdays too and one year we all got snowed in and I was all alone for the day
Why don't you have a half birthday celebration in September, your diet will be well settled then.
Well I'm not usually one for getting on the scales every day but I'm needing all the motivation I can get. So this morning I have lost 4 & 1/2 pounds since starting the preop diet yesterday .
Very happy with that and I don't care if it is mostly Water - that's still less weight for my wee feet to be carrying about.
Hope todays ops are going well.
