  1. Count me in!!! My surgery is in a week and a half, and I'd love to find some local support!!
  2. I live over by the Covington Library and KW HS. I love it here, such a small town feel, but with a Costco! Ha ha! All I need is a Trader Joe's and it would be heaven! Do you still visit often?
  3. Hi! FW/Auburn is where I grew up! I lived near Lake Dolloff, on the west hill of Auburn. FW has changed so much since we moved there in the 70's!!!!
  4. Hi Amber! I'm going to TJ for surgery April 8! Who was your dr? I'm going to OCC w/ Dr. Ortiz. I'd love to hear any adivce you have!!!
  5. I'm near Seattle, WA. You? Good luck at your appointment tomorrow!
  6. Okay, it's day 3, and I feel really great!!!! The sugar-withdrawl headache is gone, finally!!! It was HARRRRRRRD to get over that one, let me tell ya! Ouch! When I stepped on the scale this morning, I was down 6 pounds. I'm having frozen dinners that are not over 300 calories (tonight was lasagne) and I'm getting 2 Protein shakes during the day. Loving Diet Snapple Half & Half, which is an Arnold Palmer (half iced tea, half lemonaid), and my regular cold-pressed nettle leaf tea. You get tons of Vitamins and minerals from that, and it's quite good w/ a bit of Truvia if you like it sweeter. I'm eating romaine w/ wishbone balsamic spray, sugar snap peas as a snack, cucumbers, and had a bit (an ounce) of grilled chicken in my salad tonight. I'm under 800 calories a day, according to the myfitnesspal app. Ooo...had Water w/ Crystal Light's version of Mio, and tonight I squeezed in a bit of fresh orange instead. Very tasty! Still having coffee w/ Truvia and nonfat milk (a tablespoon) but no way can I withdrawl from sugar and caffeine in the same week. Headline "crazed fat woman kills 30 for a latte." Sooo...man, this is great! Now that I'm over the withdrawl, I feel like this is a total head game from here to surgery. Why the hell could I not do this before?!?! Oh yeah, it's because I did not have to think "If I can't do this, no surgery!" Nothing like that to motivate you! If you are struggling, know it WILL get better!!!! You CAN do this!!!
  7. I'll be there! I'm going alone as well. My surgery is w/ Dr. Ariel Ortiz w/ OCC. I arrive in San Diego on the 6th and they are picking me up on the 8th and taking me directly to the hospital. I'll be at the Marriot until the 11th. Should be easy to find me...I'll be knitting!
  8. If you want to borrow my line, feel free. Here it is: "Oh, don't worry! I picked the dr. with the nicest chickens running around the shack!"
  9. Not sure how to change anything on your phone (I'm barely able to use the damn thing myself!) but our surgeries are on the same day!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! Welcome!!!!
  10. I told everyone at work, since they see me all the time and I figured they would notice for sure, lol! I've only had one bad reaction, and everyone just ignored the person who said it, as did I. She overheard me telliing someone about it, and started talking about eating more veggies and fruits. We all basically stared at her and then said "well, anyway..." and then forgot about it. In my head, I just think those kinds of negative people are that way because they have a nasty case of crabs that make them crazy, or something like that. Not the most mature reaction, I know, but that way I just let it roll off my back and go on with my own life! I just go "Dang, crabs must be itchin' you something fierce today!"
  11. Even with the nausea, it must feel great to have it done and over with and you can focus on your new life!!!!! Congrats!!!!
  12. Fantastic news that you are now home and recovering!!!!!
  13. I had the same pain after my hysterectomy last year - it was from the pain medication! Once I got off that, the pain was gone. It was agonizing in the meantime...I kept taking pain meds for that pain, not the pain from the surgery, and it just made the pain worse...and the cycle kept repeating! I hope you find relief soon!
  14. I've not had dental work there, but I'll see you there! My surgery is the 8th.
  15. Congrats!!!! I was thinking of you and wondering how things were going!!!! So happy for you!!!!!
  16. I am grateful you shared your experience with us, thank you!!! I'm so sorry that you were not treated well in the hospital, but congratulations on making it through and beginning your new life! Kat, what a terrible experience! I'm sorry! Thank you for sharing - it's true that a good experience, and a bad experience, can happen anywhere.
  17. I was hoping to have Dr. Houseworth do my surgery! My insurance would not cover me because I have not been at a BMI of 40 or more for the last five years...I was 39.something. So close, yet so far! Glad to hear it went well! I remember their support group in FW was in the am, and in Lakewood in the pm. If there are others, I would love to know about it! I'd love a local support group!
  18. I'm a teacher w/ two young kids...I'm so busy I forget to check back where I posted! We gotta get our Western WA forum hoppin!
  19. I totally know the Shag Wagon!!! I've seen you in my neighborhood!!!! What a small world!!!
  20. FANTASTIC! Great info, thanks for sharing!!!!
