  1. I'm hypothyroid and was diabetic before RNY. Was taking Metformin. My surgery was Dec 9 2015 and I'm off Metformin and have lost 53lbs thus far. Weight-loss has been steady, I'm thankful for that.

Don't worry too much, it all works out in the end

thank you for sharing and the encouragement...

  2. I have those same conditions and am worried about losing weight even with a sleeve since I am unable to lose weight now no matter what I do. Thanks for asking about this

that has been my struggle too...glad to help...

I have a thyroid condition(hypo) and although I am struggling to get to goal, these last twenty pounds are so difficult, I'm still pretty pleased w/my progress (75#).

I was also borderline diabetic & my dr.was going to refer me to a specialist but I begged her to wait, as I was preparing for the surgery.

Thankfully, my numbers are now perfect, I never needed meds.

You'll find many people lose successfully w/a thyroid condition.

keep up the good work...thank you for sharing.

  3. It turns out that I might have a complication with my sleeve, I'm scheduled for an endoscopy. When a lap band is on your stomach it widens the sides like ears on your stomach, when it is converted to a sleeve, the surgeon might not cut the necessary amount leaving a big sleeve that leads to technical failure.

What was the outcome after they found out your sleeve was too big?

I'm going through something similar. I'm only ten months out but I know I can eat way too much and have been able to for months. The original doc said I may have stretched it out but I was thinking it had to do with my having the band first. However, due to my insurance changing I'm going to a new doctor next week and they are already saying something is wrong since I've only lost 10 pounds. I'll be having some testing done to see what's up.

The surgeon left my sleeve too big due to the band. I need a revision. I also found a drawing of what my sleeve surgeon did to my stomach from sleeve to band it was not cut right size.

  4. @@Soli3l that is fascinating. I have not heard of it, but kind of makes sense. Just out of curiosity have you considered logging your food/diet on a site like myfitnesspal.com and finding a sleeve buddy for accountability? Just a suggestion. Most of the failures i have observed have been because of bad food choices (and I admit this is only from youtube.com observations, not in-depth research). I'm not judging, I'm just trying to offer a suggestion that might help you. I can hear your dismay, and want to give a tip that might help you achieve you goals.

Yes I have. And I never stopped seeing my nutritionist. The food gets stuck in the area that didn't get cut. So my stomach stretches. I've used the app and log my food for my nutritionist to see/analyze.

  5. So let me get this straight. If you have band slippage or erosion then it's covered.?What about the fact that you are having regain,Gerd, other co morbidies and say you hover around 35 to 40 be I are you able to great revision covered.?What is your insurance?

When I had Lap Band and Sleeve I had Cigna, they denied my Sleeve but I appealed with my doctor and got approved. Now I have FL Bcbs but no bariactric benefits so in order to get revision approved their rep said I can mention morbid obesity or any co morbidities, only medical complications to see if I could get it preauth.
