so happy for you [emoji1]I have hypo thyroid as well. I'm 5 1/2 mos post op and have lost 92 pounds so far. 74 since being sleeved. Still have 50 to go. I was surprised at my 2 month blood work that my T4 was actually high and my Doc had to decrease my meds.

thank you for sharing and the encouragement...I'm hypothyroid and was diabetic before RNY. Was taking Metformin. My surgery was Dec 9 2015 and I'm off Metformin and have lost 53lbs thus far. Weight-loss has been steady, I'm thankful for that.
Don't worry too much, it all works out in the end

keep up the good work...thank you for sharing.I have a thyroid condition(hypo) and although I am struggling to get to goal, these last twenty pounds are so difficult, I'm still pretty pleased w/my progress (75#).
I was also borderline diabetic & my dr.was going to refer me to a specialist but I begged her to wait, as I was preparing for the surgery.
Thankfully, my numbers are now perfect, I never needed meds.
You'll find many people lose successfully w/a thyroid condition.

I hear you. Thanks for sharing!!!I was diagnosed November 2014.
I am technically still diabetic because my last A1c was 6.0 - but with great blood sugar and the weight loss, I am sure I will be able to drop that diagnosis very soon. I am no longer on any medications for diabetes.
-
so happy for you...so your no longer a diabetic? When were you diagnosed?diabetic, marginally controlled on 4 metformin a day.
After surgery sugars phenomenal on NO MEDICATION.
diabetes was what decided on the surgery fro me.

I am hypothyroid. I am within ten lbs of my goal. Lost 85 lbs in one year.
Awesome news!!!! So happy for you!!! How long have you been sleeved?

I would like to know if anyone with Hypothyroidism & Diabetes has had the Gastric Sleeve? How has your weight loss been? Thank you.

It turns out that I might have a complication with my sleeve, I'm scheduled for an endoscopy. When a lap band is on your stomach it widens the sides like ears on your stomach, when it is converted to a sleeve, the surgeon might not cut the necessary amount leaving a big sleeve that leads to technical failure.
What was the outcome after they found out your sleeve was too big?
I'm going through something similar. I'm only ten months out but I know I can eat way too much and have been able to for months. The original doc said I may have stretched it out but I was thinking it had to do with my having the band first. However, due to my insurance changing I'm going to a new doctor next week and they are already saying something is wrong since I've only lost 10 pounds. I'll be having some testing done to see what's up.
The surgeon left my sleeve too big due to the band. I need a revision. I also found a drawing of what my sleeve surgeon did to my stomach from sleeve to band it was not cut right size.

@@Soli3l that is fascinating. I have not heard of it, but kind of makes sense. Just out of curiosity have you considered logging your food/diet on a site like myfitnesspal.com and finding a sleeve buddy for accountability? Just a suggestion. Most of the failures i have observed have been because of bad food choices (and I admit this is only from youtube.com observations, not in-depth research). I'm not judging, I'm just trying to offer a suggestion that might help you. I can hear your dismay, and want to give a tip that might help you achieve you goals.
Yes I have. And I never stopped seeing my nutritionist. The food gets stuck in the area that didn't get cut. So my stomach stretches. I've used the app and log my food for my nutritionist to see/analyze.

Obamacare or any personal health insurance you purchase usually does not cover Out of Network costs. My surgeon only takes United Healthcare Oxford which I can purchase, but the hospital he does surgery is out of network.
-
I searched those plans they offer coverage for in network doctors only no out of network coverage...which I think my doctor is out of network.

You can buy health insurance without utilizing healthcare marketplace. You can go the route of private insurance brokers. Please note, there isn't much of a difference between what you find in the marketplace and what you get from a private broker.
Good luck.
Great info thanks for your help.

Hello everyone, my current employer's health insurance does not have any bariatric benefits, neither will the new health insurance for 2016. Any suggestions as to where I could get health care insurance? Other than Obamacare?
I have a complication on my sleeve and I need revision.
Thank you.

Did you have any issues with this insurance and finding a doctor that takes this insurance?
-
I am having surgery in Mexico using Dr.Altamirano. Price starts at $4199.
thank you...

Endoscopy confirmed the doctor's suspicion...I have a big sleeve, it's also dilated w/ a bulge, he said it's not my fault, but it could be revised...now the waiting begins.
-
My new surgeon to be, did my endoscopy yesterday and said my sleeve is dilated and has a bulge, he said it's not my fault, the sleeve was too big to begin with..causing weight loss failure. He advised that it could be revised with no issues. Now I have to wait and find out if my insurance will approve, since I have no bariatric benefits. I am so frustrated...
-
I don't know any current U.S. pricing, but as of last spring, my bariatric surgeon in Mexico was advertising revision surgery starting at $7200. Hopefully that gives you some kind of idea.
Great info...thank you!!!

Good evening,
I would like to know if anyone has any idea how much revision surgery will cost to get resleeve due to technical failure? The sleeve was left too large due to revision from lap band.
I'd appreciate your feedback.
Thank you.
-
my lap band slipped and I couldn't swallow, or keep food down, I got the sleeve done, my new surgeon thinks my lap band stretched the top part of my stomach and my past surgeon didn't cut enough from my stomach....causing technical failure. Otherwise I love my sleeve.May I ask you are getting a Revision from sleeve to?i am torn...lapband to???
What's your experience with the sleeve?
-
sounds like but I am having an endoscopy in a couple of weeks to confirm complicationsDo you need the sleeve revised?if so I am also hearing a lot of people needing sleeve revisions.
-
When I had Lap Band and Sleeve I had Cigna, they denied my Sleeve but I appealed with my doctor and got approved. Now I have FL Bcbs but no bariactric benefits so in order to get revision approved their rep said I can mention morbid obesity or any co morbidities, only medical complications to see if I could get it preauth. So let me get this straight. If you have band slippage or erosion then it's covered.?What about the fact that you are having regain,Gerd, other co morbidies and say you hover around 35 to 40 be I are you able to great revision covered.?What is your insurance?

Hi Mammysm -Donna:
I got my sleeve revision with a new surgeon, finally my sleeve is the correct size. I'm following a high Protein low carb diet. In 3 months have lost 40 lbs. I currently eat 500 - 800 calories, 25 - 50g carbs, 80g+ of Protein, 64 oz of Water and exercise. Bariatriceating.com also on Facebook has taught me a lot has been the icing on the cake. Hope this helps. Thanks SoLiel
