  1. Thats awesome, Congrats on the journey of a healthy you. Its inspiring to read about others having no pain and feeling great. I pray to God I be in that number! Tuesday I will find out my surgery date, and praying I can get sleeved on the 26th or before the month end. I am so ready to get it over, so I can be rebirthed and start my journey of a healthy me. Enjoy!!! I am so happy for you.
  2. Your family is just afraid of the unknown. They may not have researched it and don't understand the benefits of it. All surgeries have its warning, but I am sure once you get your surgery date your husband or mom will be there to pick up up and be there for you. Stop worrying, and forcused on how much healthier you will be. My husband is not supportive of me and he knows I value his opinion but this is not about him, but me . I go for my final visit to surgeon Tues and get surgery date . Its his off day, now this morning he tells me he has to work . I believe he volunteered to work, to avoid going. Its all good . I have went to each appointment alone and was fine. However, he is taking two weeks off of work to help me and will be there when I have surgery . I know he is just scared for me, but also insecure due to his weight issues  . I pray, that all works out for you and that your family will be there for you. They may not accept it, but hopefully will stand by your decision . Do you have a friend or another family member that can take you and pick you up? I know you still want your spouse and mom there. I have not told my mom yet because I know she will worry. Once I get my surgery date, I will have a talk with her. I know whether she agree with it or not, she will be there with my husband . God Bless you, cheer up sending positive waves your way!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Good morning, I hope you feel better real soon and hopefully you can go home today. You said, band did you mean sleeve? It is good that you is able to walk some. Your husband, is a great support system. Hang in there, hopefuly the worst is behind you.Congrats on new beginnings and an healthy you.Praying that you have a speedy recovery!
  4. Hello everyone, this is my first post. I have responsed to several posts. I am so excited so excuse me if a ramble. I started this weight lose journey in Sept. I was weighting 226 and presently weight 216. The surgeon's staff said all my paper work was submitted last week to allow 1-7 days for BCBS NC approval. So I called BCBS 11-14. They informed me that it was pending to call back Thursday or Friday. Yesterday at 12:30 the office called me and said I was approved! They had an opening 11-20 for the visit before the surgery to bring paperwork from job to be filled out and the visit is 4 hours because they have to go over my diet plan before and after surgery. I am so excited it can take as long as needed. I will find out then my surgery date. I am praying for 11-26 because my cousin and I want to have ours the same day. If not, sometimes that week. My birthday is the 11-29 and that will be a great gift for me. Yeaaaaaaaa, soon and very soon, I will be joining the rest of you losers on the losers bench. My surgeon only requires the day before liquid diet. Life is good!!!!
  5. Congrats!! Hopefully today or fri I will have my approval. I called yesterday and was told to call back, its pending! Maybe you can have an early Thanksgiving! I only have to go on a liquid diet the day before surgery. I am so excited because I know its real soon not sure when that I don't care if I miss holiday foods. I have ate enough to last me a life time. Its best to start cutting back or elimating unhealthy choices before starting liquid diets so it want be as hard. :)
  6. You look great!! Keep up the great work! Hopefully soon I will be joining the rest of you losers on the losers bench. Keep on the plan you will continue to get amazing results.
  7. Think happy thoughts!!!! You will be find. I pray that your surgery is a success and you have a speedy recovery. God bless You!! Congrats on the beginning of a new life. Another thing, to be thankful for at Thanksgiving!

The sky is the limit!!!! Congrats! I am so happy for you. If you get it done this year, you want have to meet another deductible. Please check on that so you want have surprise expenses.I have NC BCBS. They told me if I wait until next year, I may be paying it myself cause I already meet deductible for this year. I am praying I hear APProved by fri so I can hopefully get surgery date 11-26 or sometimes in Dec! I called yesterday, they say it is pending!!
  10. I hope you got BCBS because that is good to know that they will cover part of it at least!!! I will seek a tummy tuck maybe a year after this surgery. I watched a lady on UTube who had the sleeve and she had a lot of excess skin in the stomach. A year later, she had the tummy tuck and her tummy is sooo different and flat. It is worth having. I am sure hers were medically necessary too. It will be better to wait until you have kids to get it done. I was small when I had my children. My first child I weighted 130 and went back to 130 with a flat stomach. however, I had her naturally. My son 7 years later, I had a csection and no more flat tummy for me.EWWWW!!! lol Good luck with whatever you decide.
  11. I hope you feel better soon!!!! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I called the insurance and they said its pending call thursday or fri. I have already stopped buying sodas. Sodas is my weakness to if I got it in the house. I do good at home but at work, I bring bottled water or gatorade. However, if I bring money on me, I will go get a pepsi lol.Its good that you don't have the taste for it anymore. I like the protein shakes. I drink at least one a day. The Whey protein mix. Choc mix with strawberry potein and add ice shake it up. Yummy!!! Better then a pepsi with bubbles lol. I was thinking of taking 4wks off. I believe I will stick to my orginal 12wks medical leave.I am older now, takes time to heal. I hope you feel better real soon...
  12. Congrats!! You are on your journey to a healthy you. Thank you for sharing your story.I feel more encouraged now the closer it gets to being approved. Paper work was submitted last wk, so hopefully any day now I will have an approval and surgery date. I am so happy for your sucess story. Thanks for the tip about the pocket on the robe. I had a c-section with my last child 21 years ago. I can relate to the tummy pain. I remember, feeling like a butched hog. When the nurse came in I told her that. She said," sweetie you just had major surgery". It does get better day by day and especially after walking and getting a shower. I rember my first shower I dropped the soap, I was so sore. This time I will use body wash  . Wishing you speedy recovery.
  13. It depends on which insurance policy you have. I have BCBS. I have met my deductible, so the day of the surgery I have to pay $239.00. At my first visit at the surgeon office they went over what I would have to pay. All money had to be paid including copayments for pretesting before surgery is done. I would advise you to talk to your insurance company yourself. I had to sign a paper stating the price. Best of luck!
  14. Congrats!!! Thanks for sharing your story. it is very encouraging. i am waiting for my approval for the sleeve this week. It was submitted last week. My greatest fear is the loose skin. I weight 216 and my goal is to get to 140. I can relate to you about joint pain when walking. I t hurts more coming up the hill. Hopefully soon I will be joining you on the losers bench. Keep up the good work, you look great!!!
  15. My sugeon recommended stage one or two in gerber baby food. If you decide to use a blender and make your own it has to be pudding consistency.Vegetables are not to be added until the 5th or 6th week after surgery. Vegetables must be cooked very well and chopped fine. Every surgeon is different. You may want to check with them to see if its okay. My nutritionist recommened V8 juice too. That has variety of vegetables in it. Celery and sweet potato is not recommended! It will not go well with the sleeve.
  16. Look to the right of the social forum that says Join and click on it!
  17. Thank you for taking the time out to share how the valve works. It is important to know the reason why we can't eat and drink at the same time. Being aware of what will happen if we don't follow the rule will encourage us to stick to the plan. You are awesome!!!
  18. Congrats on your new sleeve!!! I have not been sleeved yet. I am waiting on my approval next week. What my surgeon told me was sip 64 oz of water daily and 48 grams protein daily. It is just your 2nd day out so I am sure you will be able to get more fluids in later. You do not want to become dehydrated. I wish you the best with a speedy recovery. Keep us updated.
  19. There got to be other hostipals that are Blue Center of Excellence!! Noway, would I wait. I have Bcbs and when I called them they gave me a list of 7 hostipals that was within 25 miles of my surgeon office. By waiting until next year, want you have to meet 2013 deductible? I have to get my sleeve this year because I have meet minds. I am waiting to hear about my approval sometimes next week.If not I would have to pay the surgery out of my pocket. You may have a longer commute if you fine another hostipal, but it will so be worth it. Good luck, I hope it will be sooner then later for you.
  20. Praying that all goes well and u have a smooth recovery!!!
  21. I am 5'6 weight 216. I have NC BCBS. My doctor submitted my paper work tuesday. I am waiting patiently for an answer. I have faith and believe I will be approved. I have the same medical issues as you plus GERD. I just told the doctor what diets over the years I had tried and he wrote it down. I did not have to show proof of what diets. They required two years proof from doctor my weights. Hower, 2010 I never went to the doctor so I had to send them a picture of me in 2010.So hopefully soon we both will be on the losers bench. Believe!!!! and it will happen.
  22. Awesome!! Praying you have a speedy recovery.
  23. Congrats!!!! I just got my paper work submitted yesday. They say, 1-7 days for approval from BCBS. So hopefully Sometime in Nov. My birthday 29. What a great gift the sleeve would be. Life time gift. Many blessings to you and I pray you have a safe and speedy recovery.
