ditto88 got a reaction from YummyMummy101 in Perth Sleevers?
Hi yummy mummy, thankyou so much :)The first few weeks were hard, I remember the first night in hospital after I had it done I would of killed for a ham sandwich with bowl of pumpkin Soup haha..I honestly believe there is no way you have ruined it so dont stress about that when you say normal food what do you mean? How many weeks out are you? I don't really remember what I ate but I know there was some trying times where I did sneak a bite of my children's food and would chew it until my jaw hurt! If you body is asking for more and sleeve excepting it you should be fine just make sure you don't touch the naughty foods just yet or pushing the limit if foods you def shouldn't be touching(steak, bread ect) longer you stay away from sweets the better your tolerance will be! I still to this day feel sick if I have more then I should I junk like chocolate chips ect, my sleeve hates maccas thankgod it feels like I'm swallowing a sponge lolMy biggest motivation was the fear of doing damage to my stomach, I was petrified of leak!!Please don't let me scare you that's what's going to happen cause you ate something a bit soon but that's what helped me stay in track..now it's still my fear that helps me to stay eating well but it's a fear of weight gain. It will be hard for awhile but eventually you will see food as fuel and when you can eat more you will realise why we are so over weight the portion sizes that out society has made us think is normal is crazy! I survive on eating as much or less then my 4yo would at a meal, always serve my food up on a bread and butter plate eating my meat and veg first then carb if still hungry. i will still have a little bit if dessert alot of the time but i have an even smaller serve then my kids or just a bite so I can still have treats and enjoy food but it doesn't rule my life anymore.Your still very early out so Water is very important, right now it's a mental challenge and you have the fear of doing wrong which is good as your conscious of your old habits meaning you wont slip back into them. Keep doing what your doing and if the hunger hits have a nibble of something healthy there's nothing wrong with that, itl keep your metabolism moving.Sorry for the novel lol but ask away I'm happy to answer any questions

Hi, I'm from perth too! Was sleeve Nov 2012 and down 52kg. I hate hate hate exercise so apart from running around after my 2 little ones I don't do anything! I still don't have much of a appetite so do have to pay attention to what I eat so I don't get to weak..Ive suffered gallstones and acute pancreatitis due to such a dramatic weightloss. After all that though this is the best thing I've ever done, I'm now 60kg and people who meet me and I tell them cannot believe I used to be so much bigger

I could have written this myself! I also was sleeved 12/4 and I made stuffed manicotti last night for dinner. I am on full liquids through Tuesday, but couldn't help myself! At first, I did what @PetraLuxor says... I took a bite of the sauce, chewed it up, tasted it... and spit it out. Four times! And then finally had to have a real bite. It was sooooo yummy. But then I've spent all night thinking not only did I just cause my stomach to explode, but I would never be successful.
Then I woke up this morning and all was well And I know not only am I not going to cause my belly to explode, but I can't expect to be perfect... just better than I used to be!

I haven't posted in a while, but thought I would post before and after pics. I was sleeved on 12/31/11 and hit my goal weight of 200 lbs in a little more than 9 months. I have been maintaining my weight now for 3 months. My wonderful wife, and support system, has lost 35 lbs by just watching what she eats while supporting me. She has been a great help and is at her ideal weight. The sleeve was a life saver for me and I am more active now than ever. This site has been a great help for me and I appreciate everyone's encouragement. Thank you!!

I am on week three and on pureed, but I have been eating soft foods and just chewing really really well. I have had no issues yet at all. I have wanted chips, crackers, popcorn (salty crunchy stuff!!) but haven't let myself do it cuz I know I will keep doing it. So the only thing I have been focusing on is learning how to eat meat again. It's Protein and I know I didn't get fat from it before! And it's filling! I've done well with chicken and ground beef (chewed very very well)...gonna try pork next!

Every doctor is different. Please contact your surgeon or nutritionist. It's always best to err on the side of the caution.
I was on clears for over a week, 4 weeks worth of full liquids, then mushy food a week, soft food a week then solids. Even at the solids I was barely eating.
The slower you go the better you heal. Your stomach is cut from the bottom to the top. Eating bread, crackers, potatoes and rice are carbohydrates. All doctors will agree a lifestyle change is for the best as this isn't a diet. Some doctor's will say eat in moderation. Some people will drink soda, beer or coffee again, mine says never to drink them. Each doctor is different and has different rules etc.
Your best bet in my honest opinion is to give yourself 7 weeks to have your stomach heal completely before introducing food that you know you should not have. We've all been on diets, it has taken us to the hardest route of all, that is to have a major surgery. If you take it seriously, you will know what you really should and could have. I waited almost 3 months and started to drink real coffee in the morning. Even after all these months, I can still feel that it really isn't that good for me, I didn't suffer without it, and it's not doing anything for me, I know it's something I should not have though and am staring at it right now. It's now up to me to decide do I drink it or not. I believe that I am going to quit drinking it.
All it takes is one day eating chips & crackers. Then the next time it gets easier, then the next time it's a little of this and that and then old habits come creeping back over time. Make it a lifestyle change and you can't go wrong.
    Best of luck to you.

Just bought my first pair of boots in 20 years....never needed them when I was in Hawaii....and besides; I couldn't ever get any zipped up over my calves anyway!!! I tried lots of knee high ones on and they fit fine...even OVER my pants! Most fun I've ever had shoe shopping. Opted for these ankle high boots for now; but I may go get another pair now that I'm in Amsterdam.....SO MUCH FUN SHOPPING NOW.....I remember when shoe shopping was awful because I couldn't bend over to get the damn shoes on!!!

Hi have been following this forum for awhile now and finally have my date Nov 19th so thought I'd drop a line. I'm 25yo girl been struggling mentally with my weight since I was 13 when y nana told me I had muffin tops in my bathing suit ( I was only 46kg) she was a big women who had in one slight comment passed on an obsession with weight with one tiny comment! Amazing and unsettling how easily people can influence you!
I started gaining weight when I was 18 and had various eating disorders/depression over the years until I had my beautiful children who through pregnancy I would not do anything silly to my body. After I've had both kids I gave up was tired of fighting a losing battle and began to focus on the kids until I was at the play centre with my toddler one day and all the thin mummy's were playing with there toddlers on the jumping castle and climbing frame and my little girl was lingering around them trying to be involved, completely broke my heart! So here I am for me and my kids to change my life, hope I didn't bore you all :-/
