I use my son's baby fork and it helps SO much! I eat too big of bites and get so much gas pain with a regular fork. it also slows me down from eating too fast which is somthing I struggle with.
I didnt think about it slowing me down when eating, but that is a really good plus.

I go through mine tomorrow. I had a 20+ page pack to fill out to take with me. I am going through the VA so it might be a little different. I will post when I get home how it went.

Have any of you switched to using Baby Silverware to help make the portions not seem so small? I am just wondering.

All my classmates know I am having the surgery. They are my support group. They have known since the beginning that I am trying to lose weight.

It has to do with the hormones that are stored in your fat that are being released due to losing the fat. Things should regulate themselves when you get to goal weight or your weight drop off slows down.

My mom got a recumbent elliptical. Its just like an elliptical but you sit down to use it. It was pricey because we got a good brand but if you search you can probably find one at a decent price.

I dont get sleeved until 12/18 but I would like to join. I currently am at 230 pounds, and my goal is by Jan 1 to be in Onederland. I hope to get to at least 215 by December 1st. That is when I will be in Disney World.

I am working on portions and eating slower and chewing my food. The eating slower and chewing my food are the hardest two for me.

When I first started dieting I had this same problem as I live with my mom. She would and still does buy chips, ice cream, and other junk food. The two things I had to learn were A) I am NOT a human garbage disposal, and Just because my mom bought it and brought it home does not mean I have to eat it. So since January I have been working on that. Yes it is difficult at times, but like everyone else has said, you are doing this for you. I wish you luck.

I am not a nurse yet, but come 2014 I will be. I am currently in Nursing School. I am having my surgery on December 18th so I can recover over Christmas break.

Hello All
Well I will be the first to post here. I am 31, I served in the Navy from 99-03. I am getting my sleeve done through Jessie Brown VAMC. So what about everyone else?

I go to Disney World in Florida the First week of December with my mom. The next week is my First week in the new Quarter of school. Then my surgery on December 18th.

I am currently still working on slowing down when I eat. I am also working on really chewing my food. I plan on trying different baby foods for post op eating when I get to soft foods. I also plan on getting baby spoons to limit how big my bites are both pre-op and post-op.
As far as meeting I go to MOVE with my local VA every Friday. The VA only has bariatric support group once a month, but I do plan on going next month.

I am 31 and my surgery date is Dec 18th 2012. I am excited and trying to learn as much as I can and start "training" for post op. Did any of you actually try out different baby food before hand to eat post op? The thing I am trying to really concentrate on right now is slowing down how fast I eat and really chewing my food.

I am a lot like you. I am 31 years old, in Nursing school, and preparing to go through this surgery. I have had several surgeries in the past so I am not to worried. My mother doesn't like the fact that I am going through with this surgery. She is a nurse too, and has heard the countless problems people have had. If you are in nursing school, take that information you have learned and put it to good use. You know what can happen and you know what the nurses are going to do to prevent any problems. Yes it is scary to have any surgery. There are always risks. You just have to have faith.

I am doing this too. I have been on Protein Shakes for a month now for just Breakfast. I plan on moving to Breakfast and dinner about 2 weeks before pre op diet. However the week before pre op diet begins I am going to Disney World and that is a going to be my last food fest forever.
