He told me I would have nothing on the day of surgery. At 10:00 the 2nd day they would give me ice chips and take the cath out. Do I walk the 1st day??

I have a May 6th date! I am so excited!!

I guess I better take a gown and robe. I don't want my hiney showing when I walk, walk, walk!! lol

Did you take your PJs and change into them? I don't really want to walk the halls in a hospital gown. AND I had rather have a bowel movement. I probably can move those quicker than I can a bowl. LOL

Wow my appointment was at 8:30 today. Courtney was supposed to email me paperwork yesterday to fill out and bring with me. She forgot. So I got the paperwork when I got there, AND had to call my husband to come there because he was supposed to go with me and I didn't know. So I had to wait on him to get there before Dr. Baker would come in and talk to me. The consult with Dr. Baker went well. Courtney set me up to do my SPA today too. So I went to Baptist at 11:30 and left there at 1:30. It was an all day ordeal, BUT I am approved and I am excited!!

Everything I've read says these first 6 months are the most important for losing and then the rest of your life to maintain.

You have lost 76 lbs since December!!! Wow!!! Ok so I should prepare to stay at least 2 nights. I weigh 242 and my BMI is 39. I would love to lose down to 150, and I would love to do it in 6 months. BUT I will take my time and do what I am suppose to.

I am doing the for my 50th birthday. I want to be healthy for the next 25-50 years for my grandchildren! I know it will be hard, but I am willing to do it. A teacher I work with had the sleeve surgery on March 19th. He had 0 pain, 0 nausea, he is doing great! I want to be that way too.

Abridgie I am in Greenbrier/Conway. Tell me about your experience. Were you self pay or did your insurance cover you? I have public school insurance so I have had to jump through alot of hoops for the past 6 months. I have a May 6th date. I am just worried about the consult with Dr. Baker. I don't know why.

I go see Dr. Baker at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Someone give me a heads up. What is a consultation with Dr. Baker like? I am so praying he will say I can have the surgery. How is everyone doing since their surgery?

I got to see Dr Baker on April 9th. I am going to be so upset if he says he won't do the surgery. I haven't lost much weight. I did start exercising and have done everything my insurance requires.

How long did you stay in the hospital? How did you feel (pain, emotions, physically, etc) when you got home?

I'm planning on a week, but I will have to see how it goes. I really want someone to tell me how hard it is to switch from eating a plate full of food to eating 3 oz.

I am a public school employee so I have to meet with a nutritionist (Courtney) once a month for 6 months and I have to talk on the phone with a nurse coach once a month for 6 months.

I am using Dr. Baker. Courtney set me up with a date to see Dr. Baker and a surgery date, the first time I saw her. My date with Dr. Baker is April 9th and my surgery date is May 6th. I have jumped through all the hoops (blood work, talking to a nurse coach once a month, meeting with Courtney once a month,etc). I just need the official "You are approved". I am a bit nervous about the surgery, but I am so excited to lose this weight and not be able to eat so much food.

Birthygirl that is so awesome. Tell me about your experience since you had the surgery. Was the 1st month or 2 really hard?

I'm glad you are doing well. I have read that the chills happen but go away after a while. One person said they had to put a blanket between her teeth because they wouldn't stop chattering. Please keep me updated. I am so excited to have this surgery I have everything turned in and done except the losing weight.
