  1. Well I just found this group--which is fabulous!!-- and wanted to ask for prayers for God's will. Yes, although I have what I think I want, I'd rather ask for His perfect will for this journey. I've gone through what I need to to submit my first try into the insurance company. I am hoping that they don't require a 6 month diet or if they do they will take my previous documented 2, 3 month diets. I really want/need to have my surgery before the end of the year as I am already off of work for another surgery.

Prayers please for Oct. 31st when I have hand surgery. I hope it helps me.

  2. Haha I can't help it! If I've got boobs this size and I'm not breast feeding a child since I have no kids they had be a pay off. If I carry cantaloupes everyday they had better get some action!

Lol! I want new boobs after this. I haven't been sleeved but I can imagine after baby and then losing a lot of weight. ;)

  3. I have yet to be sleeved and I am most certainly not a man but I have a question:

As is I have an "above average" sex drive and I am honestly afraid of how awful I'll be post op with the hormones and the new confidence. My fiancé doesn't have my drive. He doesn't complain and enjoys what we do' date=' but I'm scared I'll end up tying him up in the house and breaking the poor thing lol. I'd post this in the powder Room but it seems most women there are complaining about being groped too much by their men and I see myself chasing mine down. Guys? Opinions?[/quote']

    Lol! Love it. ^^^^welcomes groping

  4. I love this topic! Thank you ouroborous for bringing this up! Not to get too graphic here' date=' but one thing I have really enjoyed during sex is being able to watch what is going on down there! I have lost 131 lbs in my journey and in fact just hit my goal (yea me!) while my wife has lost 30 lbs and is at her ideal weight range. It is amazing being able to see what I missed for so many years. It is such a turn on to see my wife "work her magic" as well as watch "the action" of the "motion" down there! (That's as non graphic as I can get.) And yes, it's true...IT GETS BIGGER!!! Woooohoooo!!! I've read about the hormones in both men and women get released into our system that were previously stored in our fat cells. I believe this! Sex is better than ever![/quote']

Graphics are good ;) We're all adults. Have fun!

  5. Superfreak...dude I feel you. I feel like I could go on and on myself. I even find myself getting aroused some much easier and faster til it can get annoying. lol. But you know what Im glad you put this up because I wanted to but my wife wouldn't let me. LMAO!!!. So I want to back up everything that you said. If I had known I would be like this..I would have done it sooner. I did this to be healthy but this new found manhood is one hell of a perk. In this case "Believe the Hype".

You can't tell your secret lol! Wifey won't like.

  6. I have UHC to but I think it depends on the policy. I was approved before I even met with the surgeon - I had contacted UHC and was assigned a nurse who provided me with the paperwork to prove my 5 year BMI 40+ history. Once I got it signed off from my primary and sent it in I received the approval letter in 5 days. Then I was given the choice of surgeons' date=' if I wanted maximum benefit it had to be at a Center of Excellence. I actually had to jump through more hoops for the surgeon than I did for the insurance co.[/quote']

That's interesting! I called 3xs an never once was a nurse case manager mentioned or offered to me by insurance....

  7. food is/was my drug! I know my Dr. won't operate on people with Bipolar/manic - or at least that is what I heard. Not sure 100%.

I don't know any long term sleevers...but I know several bypass people that have put ALOT of their weight back on - so scary!

    Good luck!

This is still the best thing I have ever done for myself!!

Hmm that's interesting. I'm bipolar and now after years of not being diagnosed, finally receives the right medical attention for it and am learning how to accept it. I asked my Psych evaluator why her forma and Dr. Forms asked if you are bipolar as i haven't seen that on any other Dr. Forma before--always depression, anxiety, etc. is all I ever see. She said that they look out for those who may be showing signs of mania and are not psychologically able to make a decision. My Dr. Didn't even make mention of it.

  8. Hi all' date='

Well I won't know until end of Oct/beginning Nov if my UHC HRA Plus insurance will approve my sleeve w/only showing my past failed diets and 5 yr history. To be prepared just in case they say I need 6monyh diet... Has anyone been approved with using 2 --3 month diets at least 2 yrs within current date? Did u have to go to NIT/Dr for notes? Or could you use online diet logs/weight?[/quote']

    I meant NUT

  9. Hi all,

  10. Hey Ladies! I have a quick question. The other night i got an email about a claim so i log in BCBS of Al site to find out they didn't pay for my Surgery consultation or Psychological testing stating it was not covered and the balance that I need to pay. Is this normal? My surgeon’s office told me all I needed to pay was my 40 copay.

Oh boy... This makes me nervous! I called and my psych was out of network so i know i'll be stuck with paying 40% of bill but I never asked about consult--figured it was just covered as a specialist appt. I have UHC though.

  11. I have UHC. To date they have covered everything you listed leaving me responsible only my co-insurance & co-pays until I hit my out of pocket. They have been beyond wonderful to deal with from my initial inquiries with the Optimum Health program onto to surgical approval.

Did you have to do 6 month diet?

I was told UhC has 2 plans - 1 that requires this and 1 that requires 5 yr weight history.... I'm PRAYING mine is the later. My coordinator is going to list my bmi of 40 w/2 com. Plus 5 yrs of weight history along with dietician visit, consult, recommendation medical necessity, and pysch eval next week. She said we should hear back within 2 weeks and will find out what they say.

  12. 7 months out... 105-106 lbs! And am in my dream size of an 8!!!!! Boo yeah! I started at 254 and am 150 (ish) now.

Ok first' date=' let's not compare. Everyone's journey is so different than the next person's. But kudos to y'all - keep it up guys! WE CAN DO IT!

I have worked my butt off (almost literally lol). Wanna see how? Come join my fitness pal and add me as a friend - I share my eating diary and workout journals and if you will do the same, I'm open with trying to make suggestions (I am not a medical professional nor an expert, but would only help if I could to encourage you, change it up, challenge you to be better). Or you can just see what I'm doing. I pray I continue to find the strength/be able to be successful.... just know one thing, if I can do this.... YOU certainly CAN DO IT TOO!

Best of luck always to y'all! xx[/quote']

With losing that much weight have you had any issues of saggy skin? What have you done to help it or help prevent it?

I have about 80-90 lbs to lose and want to get about 30-40 lbs lighter than my smallest adult weight. (130 or 140 vs. 160) At 160 after losing about 40 lbs I didnt experience any saggy skin but now that my arms are bigger the Dr. Said I'd probably have some there... But my age should be on my side (24). I'm worried about my thighs (where I carry most of my weight) and stomach (from having baby).

  13. Thanks everyone. I'm really feeling embarrassed now for posting all of that' date=' though. It's incredibly revealing and soul bearing. I appreciate the words of encouragement, though.[/quote']

Don't at all. I'm sure a LOT of people on here that have been obese/overweight their whole life feel the same. At least I know I do! I want to get sleeved so bad so that I can still enjoy my twenties--I'm 24 with a 2 yr old and married. I never socialize anymore and don't even want to go to work... I missed so many friends I could have had bc of not wanting to do anything bc of my weight. I've been living in a new city for 5 yrs and don't have really even 1 friend. I wouldn't even know where to start since I'm done with college---try work? Happy hours to get to know people or a Saturday hike? Meetup.com is great.

I hope to be on the other side next year enjoying my life bc I feel confident and can fit anywhere and have appropriate clothes for different occasions!

  14. Hiii! I just had my first consultation on October 4th. The rest of this month i am getting tests done and on Nov 15 i get to schedule my surgery. I am 20 years old and i have never been so excited and nervous in my life! I also only have to meet with a nutrionist once and a eval once too for my insurance to cover. Goodluck to you!

How did you get ins. Approval so fast? What ins. Do you have?

  15. I had surgery in TJ with Dr Ariel Ortiz on 9/10. I am a nurse in a large academic medical center - I had a great experience. The physicians I encountered at OCC were leaps and bounds better (in skill and bedside manner) than the vast majority of surgeons at my facility I encounter on a daily basis. I wish I was paid for my praises!

I would recommend Dr Ortiz to anyone considering this surgery. It is not a hoax and I have no regrets

Can I ask how much you paid?
