My surgery is 1/29 and I'm getting more and more nervous. I was so confident in my choice and now I'm just scared I'm making the wrong decision.
-
I am a nanny for a family and they are wonderfully supportive of the surgery. We have even practiced having the 22 month old to get in the crib' date=' because I won't be able to pick her up. That being said, I'm having surgery the week they are in Disney World. I am coming home from TJ, MX on a Friday and returning to work on the following Monday. Is this insane? I am so mentally and physically prepared (as best as I can be) and this is the only post-op non-food worry I have. I would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance!![/quote']I'm worried about the same thing being I'll be at home with my 24 month old. I'm hiring a babysitter for 2-3 weeks for the hours I'll be alone with her... All depending how I feel. Dr. Says no lifting 2-4 weeks for risk of leak! I think your plan is really tough!

I am soo happy with the results my only regret is that I should have done it earlier i was approved last year in sept 2012 but I chickened out finally got it done 2 weeks ago .I don't feel hungry all the time I think about other things now instead of food. Feel much better much more confident much more active ...Thanks for listening I am grateful for all the info and support here..

I kinda am getting that nervous feeling now. Like what if I'm doing the wrong thing? What if some major complication happens? Then I think I've researched everything and know it will be 2 weeks recovery and about 1 1/2 months of "special" diet but after that this is the tool I need to help me feel full--allow me to eat some-- but keep me on track.
-
How much did your dr. Want you to take to help clear you before surgery?
-
It's the first day of our new lives! Of course we're all anxious worry stress warts... but the sooner we get it over with we can get back to being US AGAIN! If you bail' date=' you'll always wish you'd taken the opportunity. I wish I'd done this YEARS ago![/quote']I guess some people are just making me so nervous some complication is going to happen. I've researched my doctor and know exactly what diet and weight I'm not supposed to lift for how long after surgery so I feel confident in this... But just butterflies. I'm trusting in God and putting all my faith in Him like I've done through this journey so far. I know this is the right decision for me.

Check around your neighborhood and see if there is a 11-12 year old that would be willing to come entertain your toddler for a while. You will be there to supervise- so that is why I suggest someone this age. You will need help with lifting and carrying' date=' and maybe getting him/her to bed. Good Luck finding someone!!![/quote']That's a great idea but no luck Only all teenage boys.
-
Thanks for this post! My son will be 23 months when I hope to get my sleeve and my daughter will be 3 months. My fiancé will be taking a week or so off of work to help out but hopefully won't need to take any more. That's great. I'll actually need someone to watch her while I'm in the hospital Tuesday night and hubby's in class (about 4 hrs) and then probably Wed-Thurs. for 4 hrs each day. Right now luckily I'm off of work on medical leave but had my gallbladder out and was too sore to move around much for a week with her (and that was 6 months ago). She's now 26 months and does a lot for herself so honestly think I can handle it past the first few days.

So I have surgery on Tuesday and just found out my MIL cannot watch our toddler while hubby is at night classes for the first few days. I'm now trying to find a babysitter.
I want to know how other moms did it. Did you have help with your baby? Did you watch them on your own? How did you do it?
Thanks!

Been through that too Marie' date=' I was given the impression I could be in surgery before Christmas and here it is the end of Jan and I have not yet been approved however it could still happen for you. Don't stop calling! Just ask Dreamsofskinny, she called like clock work and I believe it was her persistence that got her where she is now!You are your best advocate...keep calling![/quote']
Lol! Yes. Call and keep pushing. I was denied 3 times based on information that was not specifically in my summary plan description. I kept pushing for where the language came from- called my employer, insurance, advocate, and did tons of research online.
Good luck everyone. Just know exactly what your plans criteria is you have to meet to qualify for surgery and submit that information only.

Congrats Diva!Any new news on your Dr office submitting to insurance?

Surgery 29th too. Haven't had pre op appt yet. Hoping I get to talk to someone tomorrow. I'm just on low cal, low fat diet and walking to get some weight off before surgery. Surgeon said he wanted me to lose 10 lbs.

Hey all! It's my second day at the hospital. The surgery went fine' date=' I had some complications but I'm all better now. I still haven't had Water and I'm parched haha.Good luck to all![/quote']
I'm so sorry but glad you're all fine now. What were the complications?

I am on the 29th. I fly down on the 28th to San Diego and then get a shuttle ride to MX. I have a lower BMI so they said I didn't have to do the week of pre-op liquid diet' date=' just two days of clear liquid. But, I decided to try the liquid pre-op diet to give myself a kick-start on the weight loss and get mentally set for next phase of my life and new lifestyle. I wasn't perfect yesterday, but hey it is a start.I am nervous, but more anxious about handling the diet afterwards as I travel every week for work. I am at my client site from M-F every week. I stay in a hotel. I have prepped as best I can with bullet like blender at the client site, Protein powder, chicken broth etc.

Just makes me nervous about scar tissue and the horror stories

So you already had surgery? How did it go?
-
My surgeon wanted me off for 6 weeks. But I ended up being off for 3 months because of some issues that I had.Can you elaborate? I'm praying for no issues.
-
Wondering about scar tissue... Dr. Checked and felt my stomach before but just worried about bleeding out and any issues.

And I'm 24 so close to you

i'm worrying about the same thing with a 2 yr old. I had my gallbladder out 6 months ago and it was worse than I thought. Having my appendix out was a breeze and who-ha stitches after natural child birth were nothing. GB took me a good 1 1/2 weeks recovery to get back to normal.
