I can't tell you how happy this thread makes me. I went into this thinking that my sushi days were largely over. I'm one-week post-op, so it's still a so-far-away-I-can't-see-it goal, but I will use some of these tips as soon as I am cleared to. Never considered, for example, just asking for less rice on the rolls. I have had, in general, no real hunger or cravings for normal food since the surgery. But somehow now, at 7am, I suddenly want one piece of a spicy salmon roll.

What are you experiencing? I find that if I swallow too much or too fast, I burp and feel full within about 15-20 seconds. No pain, really, other than feeling full. Have not thrown up either, which I'm hoping means that I'm catching it early. Is that what you mean?

Thanks all. I am over 70 oz of water/fluids for today. Was 64+ yesterday. Let's see what we're dealing with tomorrow. I only go a few times a day, so I'm wondering if that is part of it too. As for vits, I'm on the same iron/calcium/B12/Flintstone regimen that I suspect a lot of us are on. And this was going on in the hospital too, well before I even was taking those yet. Will see what tomorrow beings, and then maybe go see a doctor.

Had surgery one week ago. Scale hasn't moved in four days. Really weird. Am now on the soft food Stage IV diet after yesterday. Got 70+ g of protein in yesterday, got 60+ oz of water in. Every day, I've been following the script to the letter. I read about stalls, and I know that people say not to worry, but it's weird. Anyone else encounter one already like this?

Has anyone found a change in their urine color? Mine has been dark orange since the surgery, even while in the hospital on IV. At first, I shrugged it off as just 'body's in shock,' etc., but I'm on Day 7 post-op now, and it's still dark. Of course, the obvious cause is dehydration. I've been drinking like a fiend...got in 60+ oz yesterday. Got 50+ oz the last three days. I don't "feel" dehydrated. I mentioned the color to both the surgeon and his nurse yesterday at my one-week post-op visit, as well as a nurse who called to do a follow-up, and everyone is saying the same thing. Drink, drink, drink. No pain, no other real symptoms, per se, but weird. Anyone else experiencing this, or ideas? Thanks!

Same thing here now too. Yuck. Appointment went well today. Got progressed to Stage 3 'Soft foods.' Never in my life have I enjoyed cottage cheese as much. So my daily plan from here until the first week of February is 64 oz of fluids daily (can include Jello and even Protein shakes in that) and 70-80g of protein. I asked about the rumbly tummy thing, as well as the general gasiness, and was told that it's likely still some surgery gas. As for the stomach, doc says I am underestimating the changes in my stomach. Says my body is still trying to adjust.

Thanks. Each day is getting better, and I have only felt a case or two of the blues since. Think it was just waking up to such a culture shock, and because I woke up early, my wife wasn't there yet, no one was online to chat with, etc.

No abdominal pain, but a very rumbly tummy. And no for me, to the question about diarrhea. Only gone once in six days, in fact!

It's crazy. Looks like everyone has their own routine details. I cannot fathom 32 oz of Protein drink right now!!!! Plus ANOTHER 24-32? Yikes. We'll see what tomorrow brings! I have never craved cottage cheese so much in my life. Not that I'm hungry...I just want to eat something with bulk to it. I'm hoping to have a glorious lunch of CC or baby food. Big party!

Haven't heard about kidneys hurting. I'd be sure to tell your doctor about that. Have you peed? I'd think that would be related to kidneys much more than being constipated.

The pre surgery diet liquids? I was lucky and didn't have to do strictly liquids, but mine sucked too. No advice other than get your chin up, put your head down and get to work, and remember that all things worth anything come with sacrifice. You got this!

Great, Woobs! Right back at you with the tmi. Same here on #2. It's been three days. Not worried yet and don't feel like I need to go. But it sure is weird. Have not used my nausea or my painkiller since coming home. I think I'm going to stockpile the painkiller for the first time my back gives out, as I can't use my miracle drug of 800mg Advil anymore for that. I'm on a nasty-assed prescription of Protonix, which my doc says is given to everyone for reflux and stomach soothing. Tastes like crap.

Good deal. Congrats. Yeah, the shower was a HUGE thing for me.

Thanks, man. Day three is fine. Home and resting. Abdominal wall feels like crap and I'm sore, but I'll live. Able to sleep, keep down my 1oz-at-a-time liquids, walk around (once I stand up ), etc. Not feeling fantastic, but feeling better than I expected to be. It's all good so far.

I originally went to my doc in Dec 2011 to learn about the band. He talked to me about options: bypass,the sleeve the band, and some more exotic choices. Walked out thinking the sleeve was the way to go. Did some more shopping around. Became more convinced the sleeve was right for me. First, literally each of the three docs I spoke with said they were doing more band reversals than insertions, and then secondly, I read about some of the band horror stories online. I found very few sleeve horror stories, and many (certainly not all) seemed to be self-inflicted. I'm not in any way diminishing the problems for people who have them, and being sleeved for three whole days now, I may get them too, but the overall complication rate seems lower. If the band works for you, awesome. More power to you and it's all good. Whatever gets the weight off and staying off. But it is a big pain in the ass for a lot of people, on a lot of levels.

My surgery went fine on the 8th. Yesterday was rough. Very sore and tired. Overdid it on the Water once or twice and paid for it. Had a phenomenal night last night, though, and got good sleep. Today was 100 percent better. Went to stage 2 at Breakfast and stage 3 for lunch. Got discharged around 4. It felt SO good to get home and shower!!!! Resting comfortably now, just sipping and walking. Go back on Monday for my followup appointment.

I have never had an issue with depression before, but woke up on Day 1 sore, tired and depressed. I know this is the right step for me, but wasn't expecting this reaction. Anyone else dealing with it?

I just had my catheter pulled out. Believe me, it's not a big deal, and so nice to not have to move to pee.
