  1. Well, i went to Mexico to Dr Sauceda and had fairly extensive work done. I started with 7 drains and am now down to 1. I still have stitches in. So far, my results look great and I am very pleased, but it takes 2 months to see your final due to swelling etc. I still have a bit of a poochy tummy but I think it will be flat once the swelling goes down.

I was very pleased with the surgeon and his care team. I loved the 3 nights and 4 days of clinic supervised recovery - excellent pain management and nursing care. Then, I was released to a hotel were I was bandaged and checked daily by a nurse and the doctor visited each day as well. For me, this was the only way to do it as the level of care I needed post op was fairly high in the early days.

His way of doing anesthesia and working with a partner means he could do alot in one surgery safely... however, no joke - this was alot of surgery at once. I had the lower body lift, breast lift and augmentation, arms and "small" thigh lift. That means no incision down the inner thigh, just along the groin. My recovery has so far been textbook. I saw my PCP and she was overwhelmed with happiness at how good things look, the incisions look good, all signs so far are of excellent healing.

I am far from out of the woods though; complications can still happen so I am diligent about taking it easy (this is killing me as I am normally so active), getting in even extra Protein and wearing the compression garments from hades. smile.png

The surgery was NOT painful and the incisions have never really been worse then kind of sore. The very worst part is dealing with the tight garments, the forced inactivity and of course the drains. There are certainly discomforts.... of the 6 drains pulled so far, two of them hurt.

Taken today, two weeks out, I am sorta hiding the two drains still in the mons area:

These photos were recent, pre surgery. As you can see, I had worked out and had some "toning" under all that skin.

I will get better pics when that last drain comes out... it is quite literally a drag on my style!

To round this out, i decided to add a pre VSG photo so you get the gist of how much I have transformed!

Hey Jane you look wonderful! I think that I need to have the same surgeries as you can you please private message me the name of your surgeon and the cost.

  2. Just FYI I've been in a stall for nearly six weeks' date=' the doc scale last week was wrong off 23 lbs. after going to two more docs this week the scale says the same as my home scale the 3 weeks prior. Now, what I'm taking from thus I have dropped 4 dress sizes and everyone says I look great and also I should be done. At only loss of 46 lbs over 5 months it's a bit discouraging , but surgeon says its a bug in my colon ( anyone experience ?). And do yogurt and prolisec for two weeks. Then the nut said its because I'm getting in too few calories. So I'm to increase from 1000 to 1200 per day.. So update you all in a couple of weeks. Please pray and God bless.[/quote']

How much more do you want to lose?

  4. For the last two weeks I haven't lost weight. I mean really, it's not a big deal right? Except it is to me. I am 8 pounds from my first goal weight (of being under 300) which would put me at a 65 pound loss since August 15th.

However, I know why I am not losing weight. I am not eating as much. I had my period which started my "I don't feel like eating" phase that lasted to last week as well. I wake up, I am not hungry, I don't think about food and next thing I know it is 3 in the afternoon. The only times I DO eat is when I am at work because I am constantly being reminded and my computer is right by the kitchen. But on school days or rest days...I can easily get myself to eat only twice and 99% of the time one of those meals is blackberries or another Low GI fruit. [Also, does Decaf tea count as Water? I have been substituting my Water with decaf tea and I'm not sure if this contributes or it's strictly food]

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I decided to break down and have a high Protein Breakfast which I am currently eating (and making me sick because I just don't want it) How do you guys force yourself to eat when you are not hungry? I just don't have any appetite once so ever... Someone slap me back to reality, LOL

I second what Arts 137 said I try to eat every 3 hours.

  6. 2 weeks post op, I have these bursts of crying sessions. Anyone else?

Lately I have been an emotional wreck and I'm about 6.5 months out. I have a lot going on like trying to get a new job and just dealing with realationships, and today I concluded that my hormones are all out of whack.

  8. I'm coming up on 6 months and I've only lost 30 pounds. That would be great' date=' except the first 20 came off in the first 2 months and the next 5 came off in month 3 and 4. I haven't lost a pound in two months. I work out five days a week. I take in about 1200 calories a day. Every week I try to break things up by having a cheat day. I'll also try to have days where I only take in about 900 to 1000 calories to see if I can make the scale budge (I weigh every morning before I eat). Inches were coming off at first, but now even those have slowed drastically. This week I didn't lose any inches at all (I measure waist, bust, hips, tummy, arms, and legs every Friday morning). I started at 231 and am about 201 (on a weekly basis my weight fluctuates between 205 and 201). I'm so tired and frustrated and worried that I'm going to be stuck here forever. Has anyone experienced this kind of stall? If so, how did you break it? My nut hasn't been particularly helpful.[/quote']

My NUT said that I would be consuming 1200 calories once I got to my goal weight. I will be 6 months out on the 18th. of September and so far I have lost 85.5 lbs so I have 49 more to go. I eat between 700-800 calories a day and workout a minimum of 3 days a week. Maybe you are consuming to many calories.

  9. I'm 8 months out and only 35# down. Tonight I ate some spaghetti with Italian Sausage and I had to throw it up. This was the first time since surgery. I've been in a stall for 2 months and I'm sooooo discouraged. I contacted the Nut in Tijuana and was told to do weight loss shakes 3x per day one green salad or broth and Water. This was 3 weeks ago and I can't stick to it. I need some motivation...

I am 5 months out and 80 lbs. down stick to what you are suppose to eat and you will have greater success. Once you get to goal then you can try to add some of your favorite things back into you diet in moderation.

  10. It's funny I went to a support meeting last month and everyone there along with the dietician really bought into the sixty percent thing.. And most long timers had achieved it and seemed happy with it.. It wasn't a philosophy I felt like subscribing to...

    So onward I go!

Ok in scaring myself today has anyone here seen the Chilean study about the sleeve two years out?

It compares the sleeve at three days and at 24 months out... It basically doubles in size!

Still smaller than before thank the sky's above.

Someone tell me to stop reading this crap! :P

Laura stop reading and sharing. My sister- in- law had the RNY 10 years ago losing 200lbs, well she has gained it all back plus more. I'm sure she was not eating what she was suppose to and exercise is foreign to her.

  11. Well I finally "came out" on FB and asked for no negative comments. I actually said in my post "if you have any negative comments' date=' kindly shove them up your a**". This was followed by an overwhelming amount of supportive, positive messages. And then this beyotch. She had to go and say "my friends mom died from complications of dumping syndrome and now her children are motherless." Go ahead and shove that one up your ass lady.[/quote']

I don't know but that's why I kept it to myself. I didn't want to be put under anyone's microscope.

  12. I have lost 34 pounds which includes 10 lbs lost during my pre-op liquid diet . I have been tracking my calorie intake' date=' walk more than mile uphill each day. I feel like I'm plateauing- am I done? Very worried...[/quote']

No you are not done your body is just adjusting to the new weight loss. I am 5 months out and have lost a total of 80 lbs. since I began the entire process. Give it some time you still have to work at it, it will not all fall off over night but it eventually will come off. The Protein is key when I added to many carbs I stalled, when I eat things I shouldn't I stall.

  13. I feel that it is no ones business. I told one friend who is 600+ lbs incase it could help him. My mother knows and I just told my brother 5 months after the fact. I live around the block from my mother and every time she would see me she would ask how much have you lost, I had to tell her that it was very annoying and to quit it. My husband told his mother about me and it seems she told everyone and I'm not happy about it - people find something else to talk about.

  14. How far out are you? I'm only 5 days post op and the air I got in my chest was really painful - all through the night - it is just now starting to get better. I hope down the road I can go back to using a straw but won't try it again until everything is healed.. Lucky you if you can use a straw and not get the pain!!

You know they say no straw for life because you take in more air.
