    Hunger

I never thought that it could be acid related , I was starting to feel so guilty for feeling hungry , I have been really careful about the things that I eat but I don't want my weight loss to slow down. Thank you for the support

I am 6 weeks post op , start weight 237 , current weight 200 lbs ..... This past week I started feeling hungry , I don't know why . I have been under alot of stress so I am starting to question if I am what they call an emotional eater .

    Sweets and Sleeve don't mix!

I was sleeved on Nov 13 2012 , I have lost 37 lbs .... and I have been really good about consuming healthy things , but this past week I have pushed my limits and I feel so guilty , I have not gained anything nor gotten sick , My doctor told me that I would never be able to have chocolate or sweets ... but on christmas eve , my sister brought over some homemade sweets , which I love....she made this cherry cobbler and some mini rich chocolate cakes with nutella in the middle .. I had a few bites here and there for the past 3 days , and thats not it ......................................................... I have started drinking regular coffee I just dont like the decaf .

    Should I Do it?

Reading your story hit close to home and I really feel with you for everything that happend to you. This year I had a similar situation .... at 44 yrs old , 237 lbs with a body frame of 5'1 .... both parents diabetic , sleep apnea and being tested possitive for cancer with a genetic test , lost two sisters fo ovarian cancer , one in March 2005 & Feb 2012 , lost my dad to pancriatic cancer in Oct 2007 and my mom this past September 2012 My primary doctor had concerns about my weight and gave me a referal to see a nutritionist ( I had no intention on having any weight loss surgeries) but after working with the nutrtionist and doctor they explained the procedure of the gastric sleeve and thought it would be a good option for me .. I gave it alot of thought , did alot of research on line and saw so many before and after pictures and stories from so many people that I started to feel more convinced and finally decided to have it . I went through about 6 months of visits to the nutrtionist , doctors ,psychiatrist and sleep apnea specialist .. After being schedualed for surgery twice and canceled for insurance reasons was fustrating especially since i was mentaly prepared for it On July 17 2012 , I had a full hystorectomy and on Nov 13 , 2012 I had my sleeve surgery . My start weight was 237 lbs , I had to do a 14 day pre op liquid diet prior to my surgery , so on the day of surgery I had lost 15 lbs and I was 222 lbs , my surgery went very well . After a week and a half , I dropped 7 lbs . Two weeks went by and the scale did not move much , It had been about 1 month and a half since my surgery and I have now lost 37 lbs , I am 200 lbs , went from wearing a size 20 & 2 x tops , to now fitting a size 16 and some XL tops ... My goal weight is 140 ( This is what I weigh when I was first married ) I have no regrets , I am feeling great about myself ..... Don t be afraid you will be okay . Get your life back , I am happy to hear that your losing but when we have alot of weight to lose , it is very hard to do on our own , and when we dont succeed we start to feel like failures and that is a very bad feeling , dont feel guilty about doing whatever it takess to be healthy and happy with yourself , I know that alot of insurances cover it , even public aid assistance takes it look to see what s out there Best of luck to you .

    Only Down 9 Lbs

I agree 9 lbs is great! I was sleeved Nov 13 , 2012 , start weight was 237 , on the day of surgery I was 222 .. a week and half later I lost 7 lbs .......... and for almost 3 weeks the scale didnt move and I was in a panic just like you ........ I stoped looking at the scale as other sleevers adviced me , I am now 200 lbs on the dot .......... 37 lbs in a month and half is not bad at all . be patient keep your mind busy and stay focused on what you consume ,, and put the scale away and weigh yourself only once every 2 weeks. good luck

    Is this normal :/

I think that everybody is different , I have heard that some people see results after the swelling , also some scales are so off , on my 2 week appointment the scale at home said 210 then my doctor scale said 216 . Right after my surgery I bought a scale and would step on it everytime I went to the bathroom , some mornings i was 210 , 215 and for 2-3 weeks those numbers never changed. I decided that I going to weight myself only once a week and not everyday.Today my scale said 205 . I know that you are eager to see results ( Just like me ) but dont make yourself crazy with the scale , just do what you have to do and take your mind away from your sleeve.I was sleeved Nov 13 , 2012 . My start weight was 237 , I am 205 ( so my scales says lol ) Also remember that you might lose inches before you start to see it reflect on the scale , I know that I lost more inches than actaul weight ... I wore a size 20 - 22 , my tops were 1 - 2 x .... I can easily wear a XXL top from old navy , and wear 18 size jeans and 16 on some dress strechable slacks. you will be fine and the weight will come off , just dont get obssesed with wanting to see results over night. Good luck

    Body smell after vs

Well , I hope that it's ketosis rather than an infection.

    Body smell after vs

Could it be that your incision is not healed maybe it is infected , I was sleeved Nov 13 , 2012 and I can't say that I noticed any odd smell . I hope everything is okay .

1 more lb. to 50lbs lost in 3 1/2 months...

Lol , I can't wait until my husband gets to that point , he is also very excited to see my progress ... I was sleeved on Nov 13 , 2012 . I think that my weight loss is slow compared to others , I was feeling kinda down about it but have come to terms with it because myabe my slow weight loss is better then others. My start weight was 237 , surgery date i lost 15 lbs , 222 lbs .. a week and half after my surgery was great , I had gone down to 216 but then for about 3 weeks nothing... today I jumped on the scale and it says 205 , so i am happy about that. I was happy to read about your story , best of luck to you.
  12. I am feeling exactly like you , I had my surgery Nov 13 , 2012 .... all was going great, My start weight was 237 lbs , I lost 15 lbs on my pre op . At the day of the surgery I was 222 , the first week I lost 7 lbs ( excited ) but for the past 2 weeks Nothing ! the scale doesnt move an Inch .... I got on the scale today and it says 207 lbs , but I dont even trust it anymore. On my 2 week check up , My scale said 210 lbs but at my doctor's office I was 216 ... I am doing everything I am suppose to , the only thing that I have to start doing is excercise. The one thing that I have to tell you is that , although the scale has not moved much in the last 2 weeks ,,, I can feel myself shrinking inches , my clothes are for sure getting bigger I use to wear size 20 pants and 2x tops ....... This weekend I went to old navy and I bought a size xxL button down shirt and couple of sweaters that fit me great , before I could not fit into then. I also have some pants that were so tight on me that they use to leave that ring around red scars around my waist ..... now those pants are so loose and I can even fit into some 16 if they stretch. I also try not to weight myself as much as before. So , dont stress yourself so much by the numbers on the scale .... you might just be loosing inches right now ,,, I am sure that both you and me will start to see that weight come off as soon as everything that is happening in our bodies catches up ..... just try to stick with the things that you should be doing . Good luck
  13. This happend to me twice , exactly as you describe it , that foamy yucky stuff that came out as I vomitted, you live and learn.

    Social impact

I think that it impacts everybody in a possitive way , I am almost 4 week post op , was sleeved on Nov 13 , My start weight was 237 lbs , I am 215 lbs now ... although the scale has been at a stall for the past 2 weeks , I know that I have lost dramatic inches , I was a size 20 and I can squeez into a size 16 , if the pants stretch.... I went to old navy the other day and I am now able to fit XL sweaters and xxL button shirts , so that was very exciting..... also I am sleeping alot better and enjoy feeling my husband s arms around me . I can also reach my full back when I shower ..... its just those little things. I wish you the best of luck on your surgery and on going recovery.

    Heartbroken

My heart felt heavy reading your story , you sound like a very strong person and you will get through this. I had a full hystorectomy this past July and I had to put on hold the sleeve after being tested possitive in the cancer genetics , both my sisters were my age when they were dignosed with ovarian cancer ( I am 44) and they both passed before they turned 50 . I can only imagine what you must be feeling , be patient and things will fall into place ... your chemo is more important right now after that , take one day at a time. My prayers are with you.

    I have so many questions

We just talked about this issue on another post , and seems that your not alone on this .. I had heard from other people on this site that they werent losing anything and I found it hard to believe that could be possible. I was sleeved on Nov 13 , a little over 3 weeks.... I was also very excited and eager for my surgery .... I did very well on my 14 day pre op , lost 15 lbs a week after my surgery I lost 7 lbs...... I was feeling great , but the last 2 weeks I havent lost anything zero ! I could probably be drinking more Water and maybe start to excerise now since my doctor cleared me , I know that I am not eating more than 800 cal per day , and I am getting my Protein from my protein shakes , letil Soups, and all the healthy things that I should be eating . I would also think that with this alone , I should be droping weight like crazy ... If I dont see the scale move in the next 2 weeks .. I will start to panic.

    1 Month Surgiversary

I am very happy for you , I was sleeved 3 weeks ago and I am feeling very dissapointed with my weight loss. I lost 15 lbs on my pre op , and 1 week after my surgery I lost 7 lbs ... but for the past 2 weeks I have not lost anything. I am still on soft foods , I have some days that I am eating up to 2-3 small meals a day and other days I can only eat 1 ... It is getting fustrating.

  19. I went through the same thing at work , I didnt tell anyone what type of surgery because I am not close to anyone just co workers , I told them that I had to take out my gallstones ...... you will need at least 1 - 2 weeks off.... I did really well with surgery and only stayed 2 days in the hospital .... the pain wasnt to bad .............................. But I felt very weak and tierd.

    Slow Weight Loss

I am in the same boat , I am very dissapointed at my weight loss , At first I was very excited when I lost 15 lbs on my pre op liquid diet , On the day of my surgery ( Nov 13, 2012) I was 222lbs , On the first week after my surgery I lost 7 lbs , I was really happy ....... but for the past 2 weeks I havent lost anything .... I am probably not taking in enough water but I am trying to get in my protein ... I know for a fact that I am not taking in more then 800 calories a day. This is what my typical day looks like . Decaf coffee with cream and equal , Protein shake , Greek yogurt or cottage cheese , Cup of creamy soup or an instant cup of mashed potatoes ..... I tried eating an egg and hummus but I could only get down about 2 tsp of each and felt so full ( I didnt like the feeling) a few days ago , I tried tuna with mayo and threw up , so I been sticking to full liquids and puree foods. Why am I not losing anything???
  21. Stop the Pudding , stick to only sugar free drinks, sugar free pop cycles , and clear broth . Thats it! and you will be fine.
  22. Do , you think that maybe some doctors are taking off more then they should? I often wonder the same thing. I hear and read of people that are losing so fast. My start weight was 237 lbs , did the 14 days pre op diet , On the day of surgery I was 222lbs , after 1 week my weight was 215 lbs , second week 210 lbs.............. but then I went to my doctor this past friday and I was 216 lbs on his scale , but today I am 208lbs. My doctor said that I will most likely lose it slower then others because of my age , he said that the older you are the slower ( I am 44) but I know of other women that are older then me and losing so fast. who knows.

    Stage 2 Food And 11 Days Post-Op

I am on week 3 post op , I am able to eat a larger variety of soft foods ... I usually make a smoothy with skim milk , banana and add in the whey protein powder , I have also found that the hot cream soups that they sell at the large super markets are so delicious , I love the Tomatoe basil , cream of potatoe and broccoli . I was able to eat about 2 tsp of a scrambled egg and about 2 tsp of Hummus with 1/2 of a felafel the other day and I was fine , I had also had some tuna a few days ago and all was good but last night for the very first time , I felt horrible it was the worst feeling ever. I had about 2 oz of tuna with a little mayo and 2 crackers , I probably ate to fast .. cuz suddenly I felt it just stuck in the middle , I could feel it all just sitting on the edge of my throat , it wouldnt go down and it woundnt go out , I walked back and fourth wishing that I could just drink something and make it go down , but then i was afraid to make it worst..... then I started wishing that I could throw up but I couldnt .... awful just awful....... finally I had the urge to throw it up , and when I went to the bathroom .. everything came out .... but it didnt end there..... I kept feeling like foam was building up I threw up about 6 times until I was okay .

    Still Hungry?

How Ironic that you write about this , because I was feeling the same way. I had my surgery on Nov 13 , 2012 and it seems that I had gotten so use to the liquids diet after doing the pre op for 14 days and then clear liquids and full liquids after the surgery , and this week that I started with the soft foods , I seem to be feeling hungry more often . It is driving me nuts because although I don't act on my hungry urges , I am questioning myself if it is actual hunger or just cravings . I also get full on just a few bites . I hope to hear what othes have to say about this because I also need some advice.
