    To all veterans...

Pretty much everything Laura said. I look at obese people and see the sadness in their eyes that I used to have. I would love to help them, but they are just strangers. I feel very sad.

    Found an interesting Blog

Hmmm.. She says WLS as if all WLS's yet she only mentions gastric bypass. Also, no one ever claims that WLS is a cure. It aids in getting to a manageable weight and thats what majority can't do with diet and excercise alone. Sorry OP, don't find it interesting because shes full of shit.. Err I mean hate. She's read some things and states her opinion.. No useful facts that are backed with facts

    Recovery Difference

There's no way of pre planning what to expect. I had the lapband and recovery sucked and with the sleeve it was as I hadn't had surgery. My daughter had lap band and it was nothing, but she's having a tough time with sleeve post op.

    DNR Order!?!?

DNR? Oh hell NO! If I die, there better a ton of people working their asses off bringing me back. I've died twice and have been brought back.. And I'll admit I'm quite happy they did.
  5. I'm a year out and the sleeve helped me losethe weight, but with out a lifestyle change .. FOREVER, I can see regaining the weight. I think the success stories on the forum are because people know this going in. There is no doubt a lot of failures, but I doubt they would hang out on a the forum and feel awful

    Going to MEXICO - Ortiz?

[i find that people are best able to think clearly when they aren't panicked, afraid, or rushing. I like to think this board is a safe place for people to come and ask questions. Personally, I spent last night reading the complications board (just as one source of data) and found that overwhelmingly the surgeons were insurance-backed US-based doctors. ] I, personally, believe this has a lot to do with inexperience. The MX surgeon have been doing this surgery for a lot longer period than surgeons here in the states. Some having complications have posted that they were one of the first 100 surgeries for a particular surgeon. I know I want experience, excellent stats, and care. And I got it.

    Truth About Popcorn...

Popcorn is a super slider food for me. It seems I could eat it nonstop and that's how I define a slider food. Anything you can eat a lot of.

Truth & gutz, if you're going to bash mx surgeons please do it with facts. This is a help forum not a rumor/scare mill

    My surgeon

Points funny how we like to show ourselves off to our surgeon. I like being a success and I hope the docs are proud too. My daughter is having her surgery this Friday so I get to see my MX surgeon one year exactly from my surgery. I'm excited.. Plus hopefully it's warm down there compared to here

My surgeon is a horrible person

That's just awful. You need to find another bariatric surgeon who can help you. This isn't right. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Maybe someone near you who is on the forum can recommend someone. Good luck

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?

Just always remember it's doable. It's just that sometimes it's at different rates and ways. But ALWAYS doable.
  18. Oops.. That was supposed to have quoted Laura

    Failed

Well.. yes, beat yourself up and get back in the saddle. Don't take your set back lightly or you'll keep repeating it. Self punishment/control is a virtue and an awesome tool just like the sleeve. Use it correctly and you will succeed yet again. Go girl.. you can do it
  20. Personally, I don't think you should be feeling this way. If your continuously vomiting that's a sign there's something wrong. What does your surgeon say? You need tests done to rule things out. Are you staying hydrated? Seriously, be forceful and demanding with your surgeon.
  21. I'm as happy as a clam during high tide Not one regret.. I was happy the minute my surgery was scheduled and ever since.

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?

Well.. There may be weeks.. Yes, that plural, that you won't lose a fraction of an once and maybe gain a little. It's just the way your body is adjusting to your new lifestyle changes. You will have to be patient and work at things

    So Many Quesitons

1 I currently get food stuck, almost like my band is to tight, although I am completely empty. Do patients with VSG, get food stuck, like Lap-band patients? No, NOTHING like the band. I have never felt any food stuck. I eat and it goes into my stomach. There's nothing there to prevent it from going all the way. 2 Do you have to chew the food until there is just nothing left to chew, like you do with the Lap-band? At the beginning we are told to do this. Eventually, I stopped and I chew like I did prep. My feeling is that if I chew things too much it takes more to feel full. 3 Are there no no foods, like there is with the lap-band? It was years before I could eat a sandwich after having the lapband put in. I still to this day can’t eat dry meat, like steaks or pork. When I was banded I couldn't eat food. I could eat ice cream and broth. Everything else came back up within a few minutes. Over time, There are no foods that you can't eat when sleeved. There may be a few that don't agree with you anymore, but those are very few. I don't like ice cream anymore... That's not a bad thing in my mind. On a note though.. There is the no no foods that will make you fat again that will need to be either eliminated or far and few between times you consume them 4 Are you able to drink when you are eating, unlike the lapband, where you should wait at least 30 min. Told not to do this. I will have a sip of Water if needed, but I've never been a meal drinker 5 How long was it after your VSG surgery until you could really eat solid foods? I took my hand full of pills right after surgery and know I could have eaten solid foods right away. Are you supposed to do that NO. You can eat solid foods when your surgeon allows it and NOT before. It's for a reason. 6 How much food can you eat? Let’s say a year after surgery are you still only able to eat 1/2cup of food at a time? I have read that some poeple feel like "they forgot to put the sleeve on". Does that mean that some days you can eat more then you normally can? I will be a year on the 14th and I can't eat much more than 1/2 cup at a time. One cup is my max and it doesn't take long to learn not to over eat. Without changing my eating habits I would have been right back to gaining weight. The sleeve doesn't stop you from grazing or eating the wrong foods. That has to change or the sleeve won't work long term

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?

Slow. It's logical that the closer you are to goal the harder it is.
