  1. what is pcos I have only lost 25 lbs since day of surgery on Sept 24/12 I am the slowest. 22lbs lost prior to surgery.

I have been stalled for over a month. Real bummer. I was at the doctor yesterday and he said most people lose to quickly and that causes Hair loss and illness so I should try to lose slowly but not stalled. Well I agree but easier said than done so I am finding out.

But the rest of you seem to be losing quite quickly which I would prefer.

  2. Velena

Thanks for the encouragement on my new bike. I will have to buy a helmut, our laws say a helmut must be worn. Haven't had a chance to shop yet. Hopefully this week sometime.

You are doing really well down 70lbs since Sept. I am a little slower than that, haven't reached a 30lb loss yet since my surgery day Sept 24. I ate way too many sweets over Christmas.

Well on to the New Year and hopefully better results.

I weighed myself today and oh no I gained 3 lbs since xmas christmas morning. What the heck, too much nibbly candy and treats around here I think.

My New Years Resolution is to start a more serious exercise program. I got a new bicycle for Christmas. I wonder if still know how to ride one, it has been many a year.

    Happy New Years all.

  4. Very true iggy everyone is different, I guess I am lucky that nothing seems to bother me except volume, I also have catorgarized rich calories as volume. True some of my taste buds have changed, so far the things I dont like are the things I shouldnt eat anyway, so I figured that was a bonus, not an issue.

I dont have any knowledge of 6 months our as I had my surgery on Sept 24 so I am only just over 2 months.

  5. The short of it is, after the initial 4-6 wk diet after surgery, you can eat and drink anything. I eat and drink together but small amounts of liquid.

The trick to it all is as others have posted is: to stay healthy you need to eat the good foods first as there wont be room for both bad and good.

Example: I ate a piece of toast and was full. So now I buy silver hills small bread which is thinner and smaller so I can eat 2 slices to make a sandwich. In a restaurant I have never been able to finish the whole sandwich. So I always take a doggie bag home.

My favourite thing to order in the pub now is chicken strips or chicken wings as they keep well when I take them home. I always ask for the salad or veggies instead of the fries as I can never eat many fries and they dont keep well.

I went to Mcdonalds to try, I ordered the original hamburger and small fries I was able to finish to burger and half the fries, I used to eat a bigmac and larger fries no problem with room still for desert.

Most of time when I go out, I share a meal with my husband as I usually eat such a small amount, the rest I leave is enough for him, if we want something different then I order the food that keeps well to take home. I have noticed now that I always get 2-3 meals out of 1 restaurant dinner, Good for the pocket book.

Good Luck when you get done

  6. Yeah down another 5 lbs from my original 250 weight pre-diet weight and 230 day of surger weight. 25lbs since surgery day and 45lbs since pre-diet weight. Hoping to be under 200 by xmas.

All is still well no surgery or eating problems, that aren't self inflicted; such as eating too much in one sitting. I am the slowest learner at this.

Merry Christmas everyone and good luck and good healing to you all.

  7. Hi Christy an astephenson

The shuttle will take you or guest back and forth to the hotel whenever you like during the day, my sister left at dinner via shuttle , she was hungry and wanted to eat at the hotel, their is no place for guests to sleep overnight. The clinic is locked up tight, so only the staff can get in. The room has a comfy chair but it is not a fold out bed.

No need to worry about the hotel, it is very safe and very nice. My sister came with me and stayed by herself at the hotel and even walked around the neighbourhood by herself during the day. The hotel has lots of staff and lots of security. We were not nervous at the hotel at all.

  8. Hi Bos

I couldnt find any insurance company that would cover surgery. I have my regular travel insurance for other stuff outside of surgery. BC medical plan has a coverage up to $300,000 for out of country as well. I just went and hoped for the best. But I wasnt that worried as I had only heard good things about this clinic and personally I have had other surgery's that I survived so I wasnt too worried but anethesia. Most problems from surgery occur from infections or other health issues. This clinic is very good at checking health problems and is very clean so I felt confident about that.

I originally considered the lap band but upon research I discovered most people a few yrs down the road had problems and usually had to have it removed. I also looked into the plication as well, but again it was simplier at the the get go but down the road seems to have a few problems. I was looking mostly for the one shot deal, so I wanted no problems down the road or any reason that I would require additional surgeries, the sleeve seemed to have the best results, so I chose that one. But I guess only time will tell for sure. Good Luck and dont worry you will be ok.

  9. Hi Bajan

Immediately after surgery a little drousy for awhile. But felt pretty good. Slept for a few hrs. Then I watched TV for a few hrs. also walked around the halls a bit to washroom and such, mostly out of boredom. They give you pain meds and antibiotics so not much pain or anything. The drain tube gets in the way a bit so if you roll on it or pull on it, it will hurt a bit. By the time I left the clinic in the morning I felt pretty good. Just be careful lifting or getting in and out of the van that transports you to hotel. I got dizzy sometimes, but as long as I sat down for 30 seconds or so I was fine. Down 15 pounds since surgery date now. I am able to eat anything now as long as it is smaller amounts. Instead of whole sandwich I can eat half for example. At the hotel right after surgery I was eating lots of chicken broth and popsicles. But I never felt hungry at all. Hope this answers your question if not just let me know.

  10. Hi KSgirl and Bajanqueen your dates are getting close. How are you all doing. I am losing weight slower than I hoped but I guess everyone loses at different speeds. I am down 12 pounds from surgery date, but more from my preop diet as indicated on my ticker. Hoping to speed up the process.

I bought some of the Unjury and it is pretty good with cold stuff. I am having trouble with the chicken Soup and cheese, I dont like them much.

I am able to eat pretty much anything now in small sizes which I still am having trouble judging. If you eat too much then in about 15-30 minutes you feel quite ill from overstuffing. Other than that I am great. Going to start some exercising now, to help speed up the weight loss. Good luck to you both.

  11. Hi All

Well the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury I ordered finally arrived after 3 wks it cost me 26.00 taxes after crossing the border on a 153.00 order and I hate the stuff. I tried the chicken Soup and its awfull cant get it hot enough for Soup otherwise it clumps and if heated at recommended temp it is too cold. It also tastes like someone poured milk in my chicken soup.

So I tried the cheese sauce, it is awful too. It smells horrible and tastes like melted cheese whiz but with a stronger chemical taste. The flavoured and unflavoured powders are ok with juices though.

So I would only recommend the the cold stuff, stay away from the hot stuff. I sure wasted alot of money on this order.
