  1. I've been toying with the idea of the Boot Camp for awhile now. I think that is what I'll try. Also-now that the hot weather is past I can get out more (until the snow comes!). I'd love to do swimming-but there is no local pool.

I have seen the sit and be fit videos. I recently bought a Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies. I just need to get off my butt and get moving. Hard to overcome 20+ years of sedentary habits.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll get to goal yet!

So how r things going for you since u posted this a while a back?

  2. Thanks for this info - I'm going to try this. My daughter is 10 years old and joining Girls on the Run soon. They train for a 5K and I think the actual 5K is in May. She has to have an adult run with her and I want to be able to. I'm pre-op and was hoping to be sleeved by now' date=' but I can always start training now and restart after. I should have time.

I'm 240lbs now but I actually participated in a 10K MS Mud Run a few years ago. I was 210 then, but trained with a personal trainer and was in much better physical shape. I walked most of it but it involved much more than walking/running - every 1/2 mile or so you had an obsicle like walking through a Water filled trench with mud up to your calves or belly crawling through mud, etc. I was so proud of myself for finishing. It was amazing! I want to eventually be able to do it again (only better!)[/quote']

This might sound crazy but tht sound like it was fun.

  3. I started at 352 and I've lost over 100 pounds in 9 months. For the first six months or so' date=' I dropped weight like it was a bad habit, and now the loss has slowed down. But, my loss slowed down in correlation to my increasing exercise... and I'm dropping sizes now like a bad habit. :) I'll lose a few pounds, then lose a size. I'll take it. :)

There's no way I'd have believed I'd be 100 pounds lighter in 9 months pre-op, but you will probably lose faster even than I did. Enjoy the journey! :)[/quote']

    Awesome

  4. I got a Body Bugg a few years ago because according to the charts and everything I was reading for a person of my size my body used about 2800 calories in a 24 hour period without working out..was I surprised to see after using my BB for a cpl weeks that I barely used 2500. So that being said every body is built different and will use energy different so dont relay on charts to much...getting back to basics may be what your body needs to shake it up a bit...good luck

    Wht is a body bug?

  7. I hate to run - always have but thinking your post gives me hope that maybe' date=' just maybe I could learn to love it! :)[/quote']

I hope to run. I keep thinking can I run? I want to learn that's for sure.

  8. Downloaded the app on my phone and started today. Day 1 was simple. Skin around my incisions was sore a bit from the running segments. Plan to stick with it and my 2013 goal is to run a 5k with my daughters' date=' who are both competitive runners and run track. Used to run a lot before a broken foot and a ton of weight gain stopped me. Can't wait for the first race some time in future...wish me luck![/quote']

OMG I just downloaded this to my phone and hoping to run a 5k this spring too. Always have wanted to run. I hope and pray this work.

  9. I was told no gum due to the possibilty of swallowing it and creating a blockage. Also my doc allows straws after 3 months. The air can cause some gas pain.

I didn't know that I thank God I don't chew gum. Maybe 3x a yr. gum make me hungry. Lol. I don't swallow gum either cause my mom told us when we was little it would stick to your tummy. Lmbo

  10. A lot of doctors and nuts say the same thing about the straws' date=' but I haven't seen one person on this forum or met one sleever in real life who ever had a problem with drinking from a straw. Sometimes they take a general rule that applies to one particular surgery (like the lapband) and apply it across the board to all surgeries just to cover their asses. Other times, there may have been one lawsuit or horror story where someone killed themself with a straw so some big doctor decided it would be wise if no one used straws ever again, and the rest of the doctors went along with that rather than questioning it.[/quote']

    U r probably 100% right. Lol

  11. This was one of my 1st ?'s lol My surgeon & my NUT both said the issue with gum is more related to swallowing the gum' date=' but straws are def off-limits due to air. Of course, go by what YOUR providers say for you. :}

What does the air do to our new stomach?

  12. So... I never thought I could do it...but I am at the one week point of my two week liquid Protein fast. It *has* been hard - particularly on weekends... but I know were I to cheat' date=' it would be all blown. I am very much an all or nothing person.

The toughest part was last night - I tried a new flavor Protein Powder with almond milk. N.A.S.T.Y. And, to add to that, my husband was frying pork chops for him and my sons. So, I was a LITTLE cranky last night!

Saturday night, I was watching tv and heard my stomach rumbling REALLY loud...then, I realized it was my beagle snoring, so I felt better. :o)

Surgery is Monday, Oct 22...this too shall pass![/quote']
