  1. Maybe hero worship is not the right expression, but I'm struggling to find the right one. We Mexi-Sleevers seem, for the most part, a bit more passionate about our surgeons and experiences. I'm Christian as well and I believe that Dr. Aceves was an answer to a prayer. When I chose him I felt so much peace of mind that was lacking before.
  2. I think a lot if us, most of us, Mexi-Sleevers develop a kind of mild case of hero worship for our surgeons. It kind of makes sense. We are obese to morbidly obese. We are struggling to get affordable life saving surgery. And viola! There it is. Between 4k-10k. Life saving/changing surgery. We devote, typically although not exclusively, months of research and saving to get the surgery. We travel, sometimes thousands of mile, away from our comfort zones (home), to a country where our 1st language (more often than not) is not our medical teams 1st language. We do this alone or with a trusted Plus 1. More often than not our experiences exceed our expectations. A new day. A new life. A new beginning. We feel a sense of loyalty and hero worship who helped put that chance for a new life within our grasp. Or... I'm totally way off the mark and merely waxing poetic.
  3. As a Bengals fan I hate agreeing with a Squeelers fan But she's right.
  4. I'm glad you and the hubby weathered the storm and talked through it. I had a recent similar experience.... My hubby and I were grocery shopping the other day and he went to the bakery and bought 3 decorative sugar Cookies for him and the kids... I was PMSing and gave him hell in the store, and walked off. I don't even LIKE sugar cookies!!! He put them back and I told him to buy them. I apologized and explained, in my case, it was displaced anger. Displaced anger or not, it's real and powerful... Good luck.
  5. About the same. Mine is a 36fr.
  6. I don't think bougie size makes a huge difference in weight loss. I have heard the leak risk can go up the smaller the bougie.
  7. My favorite. I sweeten mine using Splenda with fiber. It helps me keep things moving on this low carb/high protein diet.
  8. Well Sleeve Perry is not a fan either.
  9. True that! It was my own fault. I ate too fast and didn't chew well. You can bet I was on my game this morning. I chewed my Breakfast to mush. Slowly.
  10. I got George for my 30th bday. He's on the back of my shoulder. I hope he stays put!
  11. I am closing in on 6 weeks postop. I'm on solids. I've learned the hard way about eating too fast and not chewing well. I slimed and puked yesterday. Big time. It sucked. I don't plan on making the mistake again but I know I am a work in progress. It's hard to change a life time of bad behaviors. Here is my question. I track on MFP. If the unfortunate experience of eating and up-chucking happens again, do I track it? All of it? Some of it? None of it?
  12. Hooray! I'm glad you made it home safe.
  13. Just eat light. Nothing fatty or heavy. Maybe Protein shakes?
  14. I had gallbladder attacks after losing a lot of weight on WW. It was excruciating. Worse than all 26 hours of labor I had with my daughter. No relief until it was over. It hurt so bad I was gagging.
  15. I am doing really well. My heart has been on good behavior and my cardiologist feels that weight loss will get rid of my sleep apnea which will help my heart behave.
  16. Hooray! A safe and successful surgery/recovery for you!
  17. Good luck in your research. If there are any questions I can answer don't hesitate to ask. You will also find that Dr. Garcia has quite a following and there are plenty of his patients willing to help with questions and share experiences.
  18. I love Maxi-dresses. They're cute, comfy, and forgiving.
