    Obesity and anorexia

yes, disquieting, but I think on target--coming from someone who experienced this in my late teens and early 20s...there is a thin line between anorexia and overeating I think from an emotional standpoint
  2. I am not sure what "net" calorie are....that is net of calories expended on an exercise routine? I just keep track of my calories consumed, and at almost 5 months, my daily average is around 800

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

my answer is "no," regretfully...I cannot seem to work it into my schedule, nor do I yet really have the energy...I am committed to adding that component, because I know that is why is contributing to my slow weight loss
  5. amazing...keep up the good work!

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

congrats, Rebecca you and I have similar reference points...your surgery was 3 weeks after mine, though, and you've already hit 50 lbs lost--that is great...I still have a pound to go...I need your confidence because I am still fearful that I won't make my goal weight--especially when I am in a stall like I have been for the last couple of weeks...continue to keep us updated and keep up the good work

    PROGRAM FEES

oh, I know, and I didn't mean to really be addressing the OP...it was some of the others who had responded and taken the opportunity to complain about their own high deductibles and extras...you are right--as to the OP's first post, and I did reply with a question about what the $1,000 fee was for...regardless of self-pay v. insurance, everyone has the right to know what fees are being charged and for what purpose...and the fees should be reasonable regardless of self-pay v. insurance....I hope the OP finds out what that $1,000 fee is for

    PROGRAM FEES

I understand a lot of the concerns about high deductibles and out-of-pocket charges...but I just want to remind some of you that you are fortunate your insurance covers the surgery...mine does not, and it is a major issue with me--mainly because I am a state government employee covered under our state's overall plan...Medicare and Medicaid cover WLS, but our state insurance does not--talk about inequity...well my usual rant about this is over, but to put things in perspective, at least a lot of you did not have to pay $15,000 like I did

    PROGRAM FEES

what was the $1,000 fee for?

Unbelievable charge for VSG to my insurance

that is ridiculous for surgery where you stayed just one day in the hospital...you are right that no wonder insurance premiums are so high...glad your surgery went well, though
  18. tigerbelle

Did she really just ask me that?

I second that, supbanana...I recall at work one time sort of teasing a very thin younger woman in my department...I felt bad a couple of years later when I found out she struggled with bulimia

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

sw = surgery weight (weight on day of surgery) cw = current weight

1 month after post op loss

just to show the differences among us...I had my surgery 10 days before lipsticklady, and my surgery day weight was 5 lbs more than hers...over the 4 months, I have lost only 45 lbs. compared to her 68....we also have the same goal currently of a weight of 150 lbs....it may take me longer than lipsticklady to get there, but I still plan on getting there, so when we both achieve our goal, it won't really matter in the long run how long it took each of us to reach it...I do understand your concerns, though, about whether you are "normal" and I am still always comparing myself to others here who are on the same timeline as me...I recall that I lost around 20 pounds my first month post-op, and the biggest monthly weight loss I have had has been that first month post-op

    weight gain?

please excuse my jumping in--I don't mean to hijack the thread at all--but couldn't resist making a personal observation...I am 51 and have been in menopause (haven't had a period in almost 3 years)...sometimes, oddly enough, it makes me a little sad, because it's a sign of my fading youth, the end of a phase in my life, yada, yada...but when I happen upon threads like this, it reminds me of the positive aspects of menopause carry on
  23. my experience has been similar to Hayz's, and I am about 4 months out...the main thing for me now is not the type of food I eat but the quantity...if I over-eat my sleeve, I feel terrible and have almost thrown up because of eating too much...I don't chew my food to mush, but the sleeve has taught me to chew much better than I used to pre-op (and that is what it is supposed to do)..I get acid reflux occasionally if I eat too much of a food that is spicy, but I take prescription Prevacid to keep that under control...I can't report on experience wth bread, rice, potatoes, etc. since I don't eat those as part of my current dietary plan...truly, right now the only effect I feel on my eating is that I can only eat much smaller quantities (again, that is the intended effect of the sleeve surgery)
