    90 lbs lost

congrats and thanks for sharing! this was especially inspiring for me, because we had similar starting stats...I am also 5'2" and weighed 268 on my surgery date (about 4 weeks ago)...I was wearing size 22/24 pants and 2X tops...my personal goal is 150 lbs....if I could lose 90 lbs. in six months, I would be thrilled! Since surgery, I am just down 20 lbs., so I have a ways to go

    Sooo excited !

good luck as you continue your journey!
  5. the top part was a quote of another poster...and then there was goldygirl's response to that quote...it just isn't showing that way--not sure what happened...I was confused at first, too

    May 6 post surgery

way to go, K8ee...I am still having trouble getting in even 60g of protein...even harder to get in enough water...I just keep trying my best, though

    Feel good still weak

thanks...that is what I was thinking...I love Water aerobics, but I don't think my incisions are healed enough yet either...my next visit with the surgeon is July 3--I hope by then he gives me the OK to start going to water aerobics...I hope you also heal quickly
  8. I am almost 4 weeks out and have been in a stall most of this week--after having lost 20 lbs the first two weeks post-op...I am not going to lie--it has been discouraging this week, but what has helped is reading from others here that have experienced similar stalls; they advise to just keep with the program and that the weight loss will eventually continue, and I am trusting in that...my NUT had warned me not to weigh every day for this very reason...I haven't really cheated at all--mainly because I am too scared...I haven't had any problems so far ::knock on wood:: and don't want to take any chances
  9. I tend to agree with laura-ven...I had hoped to be like GoldyGirl, but my feeling is that if I don't use this time (I am about 4 weeks out) to develop better and healthier eating behaviors, I will find ways to "eat around" the sleeve eventually...as others have described here, this is a tool to sort of even the playing field...I wanted to get my diabetes under control and lose enough weight to start exercising, but I know the work is going to be difficult to maintain and will require re-training on my part (oh and for me, prayer)
  10. my experience has been very similar to yours...I am at almost 4 weeks (was sleeved May 6), and I am finishing my first week on soft foods...I am feeling true hunger as well, and it takes more than 3 or 4 bites to satisfy me...today for breakfast I had a scrambled egg, then for lunch I had a couple of thin slices of deli turkey and two little squares of cheese; for an afternoon snack I had a vanilla protein shake with half a banana blended in...for dinner tonight I had half a can of ready-to-eat chicken soup with an evening snack of a chocolate protein shake...the only thing I've eaten that has made me sick was some watermelon about a week ago

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

    May 2013 Sleevers!

wishing all the recent May sleevers well and looking forward to updates...glad all is going well for you, smsgrl...my experience has been similar except my NUT had advised against having any starches (potatoes and rice included) for at least 6-8 months...I know post-op diets differ, but starches aren't something your NUT excluded? I am just curious

Newbie & 1 month post op

congrats...good report...I will "celebrate" my one-month surgiversary in about a week...let me ask you--what does your food intake (type, amount) consist of typically?

    Feel good still weak

my experience was also as others have posted...at the end of a full work day, I am still a little tired (at 3.5 weeks out)...it is getting better each day though

    very definitely congrats!

    gained weight

My NUT had advised me to only weigh in once per week, and from a motivation/psychological side, I believe that was good advice...however, I have not followed it--I am too compulsive and still weighing myself each morning...what I am trying to do, though, is take it in stride and not stress over a little gain or a stall...if it does start stressing or de-motivating me, I will do as my NUT had suggested and give/throw away my home scale

    Coffee & Weight Gain Study

I think it is noteworthy to read the very end of the original post...three to four cups per day is considered beneficial (per the study)--it's just a negative study result when 5-6 or more cups are drank each day...I am not saying I have not ever drank that much coffee in a day, but almost always I have three or less in a day

    NUT visit today...

    good deal...happy for you
  21. good for you...yes, this is a great source of information as well as emotional support...welcome!
  22. tigerbelle

    27 lady :)

this is a great place for answers as well as emotional support--trust me...almost everyone is nervous pre-op (I was very nervous) and I still have some anxiety about getting in enough protein and liquids...most days I do OK, but I just try to take it one day at a time..I have seen many posts about sagging skin..it seems that the younger you are, the more resilient your skin is after weight loss...I think it depends on genetics, too, and how much weight you lose...welcome!

    6weeks out and slow loosing

ha ha...I am with Trenya...I don't expect to have lost 40 lbs by 6 weeks...I am hoping to reach 30 lbs by then, but I am at a stall right now for the last couple of days--that is discouraging
