Cschenk reacted to Dinora7 in Food will not be the end of me!
It is incredible how time flies, how I'm 7 wks from from my surgiversary and I've lost 90 lbs. I started this journey at 238 and I'm currently 148. Originally I was set on getting to 120 lbs, but to be honest as my body has readjusted it is clear that 120 would make me look sickly, it been easy and tough and emotional and life changing and now I'm at the scared out of my mind point. Things seemed magical and easy the first 6 months and then the swelling and stomach/ body adjustments made it harder and not to mention the brain that can't get the cravings of fried goodness to disappear. Sure I've modified my life greatly but now the reality of life is hitting, the weight is off I feel great and I want to live normally and eternally keep the weight off! To never ever taste fried chicken in my life again or icecream or have drinks impossible I'm only human, and 30 years of feed my body the awfully bad things yet so good tasting is the hardest habit to break. Sure you would say" just grow up and deal" but this journey at the one year point is just the beginning, it's like the honey moon is coming to its end and reality of daily life and my til death do us part relationship with food is becoming soo scary! I want to reach my goal of 100lbs total loss at my surgiversary but as it nears I realize how much harder and how much more comited I must become! Til death do us part a relationship of ups and downs with food, and I just keep reminding myself how the work will never and a promise that food will not be the end of me!
    Sorry for the rant

Cschenk got a reaction from MrsM in Sciatica
Had severe sciatica 2 months up until my procedure so much so could barely get out of bed. Relied heavily on NSAIDs. mRI showed sclerosis of my SI joint. Huge golfer up to 3-4 days week this past summer so took it's toll on my body. Was so bad almost postponed surgery. Had it injected by anesthesiologist 2 weeks out and helped immensely. Must stop NSAIDs 2 weeks before surgery but my surgeon would allow liquid advil post- op so went ahead with surgery. Took vicodin if needed before surgery. Knew that losing weight would help so went ahead. Sciatica gone still and recovering without any issues so far( only been 4 days). Don't need any pain meds for surgical pain either. Good luck to you! Sciatica can be horrible! Just lucky mine was treatable with injection

Hi ladies!!! What you are going through is perfectly normal....I was sleeved exactly a year ago and the first 4-5 months the weight came off at a steady rate...I was INVINCIBLE!!! Then just when I thought I had a good system down of eating more or less the right things (I've never been really good at getting my Protein or Water in and I have a cookie every day, cream in my coffee and a glass of wine a few times a week), but I was consistently exercising and then it all stopped. I think I lost 2-4 lbs in 2 months....but I was so happy to have lost 50+ lbs I was in a good space, didn't indulge any more than the stuff above, kept exercising and enjoying it more, and then I started losing again. I reached my goal weight a couple of weeks ago and am now 139 lbs, 2 lbs below goal weight. So don't freak out, enjoy the ride and remember how far you have come. If you start to gain a lb or 2, you need to really think about how to counter act that one; do the usual things, up the Protein, cut the carbs and exercise more...time goes by so fast and if you just hang in there, before you know it you will be the weight you were meant to be!
BTW, just in THIS THREAD ALONE, between the 6 of us WE HAVE LOST OVER 400 LBS!!!!!!!!

Cschenk got a reaction from akwitham72 in Does Only Having 50-60 Lbs. To Lose Discredit Me Wanting Surgery?
I too have what is considered lower BMI 5'51/2 wt 195# with hx of high cholesterol and strong family hx of diabetes and cardiac dz. I have been following this site for quite a while hoping to find someone like me. The physician I chose is local and I will be paying cash since don't meet insurance requirements. He reconfirmed with me why wait until I reach morbid obesity with multiple co-morbidities. scheduled for nov 1 so now really starting to doubt my decision. I know this is just part of the reality and that everyone has these feelings. Just can't wait til it's over!

Cschenk got a reaction from slojo in Roll Call Nurses Being Sleeved ...........
Hey everyone! ER nurse for first 15 yrs of my career now CRNA for past 11 yrs. Have really been researching this procedure for past 2 mos. Originally thought would have procedure in Mexico since have low BMI (32) so not covered under insurance but did find local surgeon who will do for $11200.00 thought would be better off if any complications occur plus my husband was really against the Mexico idea. Have been reading this forum faithfully every night for past few months and now that I've scheduled my date 11/1 thought it was time to start participating. Trying to intervene before I develop any more co-morbidities other than the high cholesterol I currently have. Like everyone else can lose few pounds here but can't seem to keep them off. Turning big 5-0 next year so now is the time! Can't wait for my sleeve!
