Are There Any Single Sleevers Out There..

single...solitary...alone...*cold, so cold* BAHAHA! (yes I laugh at myself all the time) I have always been single. I'm ok with it most of the time...and then another friend gets engaged....or married....or has a baby....and then I start to panic and think I'm gonna be alone FOREVER! They are dropping like flies around me! LOL. I don't think that WLS is a magic solution to what I call "singledom" but you can't really deny that when you look and feel more attractive others will be increasingly attracted to you as well!! btw I'm 25 from South Texas!

    Quitting Smoking..

i only smoked for about 4 years...but I chain smoked really bad. I have been nicotine free for I would guess around 2 years (not really sure. will explain later)...It was not WLS that motivated me to do this...I quit for my personal religious beliefs and I will fervently say that my faith helped me kick it for good. But probably the biggest thing that worked for me was that I stopped counting how many days I had gone without smoking...to me it just felt like I was reminding myself that I was choosing to deprive my body of something it craved. Instead of counting the days, months, and so on I just simply said,"from this point on, this is no longer part of my life"...does that make any sense at all? It totally does in my head, but i have tried to explain it before and some have not really grasped what I was getting at. Best of luck to you! You will feel so much better once you drop that habit! Not only are you no longer filling your body with those toxins, but you will be healthier! Smoking cigs decreases your immune system! I hope it works out for you, and don't hesitate to look my way for encouragement!!!

I Had A Breakdown At Work Today

I don't think there is anything wrong with your head Human nature is just as multifaceted as humans themselves...People deal with things differently! That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with having these feelings... That being said, i believe that they you will either let them drag you under or let them motivate you to get better and feel better physically and emotionally! I think talking to a professional can be a good thing...Sometimes we just need to be heard by an impartial party, and feel free of judgement or knowing that that person is not going to simply placate you because they love you. You have the all the power to change the things you don't like or that make you feel bad...you just have to tap into it! That's what I think!!!!!

  6. In all probability I will be starting the liquid diet in a month or so and I am thinking it's going to make me crazy and miserable! Any suggestions on how to get through it and good recipes to use will be appreciated!
  7. This is a bit of a carry over from another topic I am participating in, but the conversation we were all having made me very curious. I would like to see how much of a factor having faith in God matters to those who have had the surgery or are in the process of having the surgery. Personally, my having this surgery is totally dependant on my faith in God and His will for my life. I have been praying and seeking God on this issue since I first started looking into it. Throughout the process there have been open doors that I have taken as signs that it is ok for me to proceed. Of course the biggest one will be insurance approval and if I wind up not getting approved, then I will not press the issue.I want to make sure that this is something God wants for my life, not just something that I am deciding because I want to. I put my complete faith and trust in God and I know that He will guide me through this journey. Just wanted to see what other people think about this issue. While I expect that everyone has a right to their own opinion, I respectfully ask everyone please do not turn this into a God bashing session! For myself and others, God has a lot to do with the decision to have this surgery. Thanks!

    Faith Matters! Or Faith Matters?

Religion and Politics are only bad topics to discuss if people make a big deal out of them and get ruffled by the opinions, thoughts, and beliefs of others! Just because you don't agree with or even like what some people say or think does not mean that you have to become offended or agitated(sp?)! I heartily disagree with some of what is being said, and I will defend my thoughts and beliefs to my dying day, but I refuse to do it in a manner that makes someone feel battered or demeaned. I won't debate my beliefs, but I will share with someone who sincerely wants to know or is curious. Having said that, there are things in this life that we don't understand..we will NEVER understand them...that's where the faith comes in! If I had to sit here and try and wrap my mind around WHY my mother had a massive heart attack in her early 40's and had to have a triple by-pass, or why she was abused by a family memeber as a child, or why she has two degenerative disk conditions that have caused her to have the back of a 90 year old ever since she was in her 20's and need mulitple surgeries, not to mention things that have happened to myself, friends and other family members, I would literally go MAD! I just know that my mom has the kind of faith (in God) that can move mountains, and keep her going when by all rights she should be paralyzed or dead. That's what faith can do. I respect everyone's right to their own opinion, and I'm just expressing mine!

Anyone Have Suggestions For A Liquid Diet?

Thanks so much for sharing a part of your journey with me! Jello sounds like a good idea, but I am not partial to it at all. I have a problem with certain textures in my mouth, and I just can't eat them without gagging! I can usually handle Jello if I let it dissolve in my mouth and then swallow it and I'm ok with apple sauce sometimes. Needless to say, I am not looking forward to pureed foods. yikes...TMI about my digestive woes!! sorry yall!

    Wating...waiting...waiting

I think since my insurance is provided through HEB I don't have to do the 3 months of Nut. classes...I have had one nutritional class and then met with the counselor. As soon as I get approved they will schedule my surgery...I'm thinking probably sometime in November.
  19. People generally look at the surface of an issue and make assumptions and form opinions about it without really knowing much. I have noticed that a lot of people treat those who choose to have weight loss surgery the same as those who choose to have plastic surgery like liposuction, breast augmentation, or even a face lift because it DOES change how you look. The thing they fail to realize is that it saves lives!! The best way to remove any kind of stigma or "un-taboo" (yes I made that up) a subject is to talk about it!! More and more people are open about getting plastics done and so it's accepted now because people started talking about it more! It's that mentality of being completely open about who you are and what you do and not caring what anyone thinks. You just want to be the best YOU possible! Now having said that, I want to say that it is completely the choice of the individual when it comes to the subject of who you tell about your surgery! There is nothing wrong with keeping it to yourself if that is what works for you. But I have no problem with telling people about my intentions and I don't care about negative reactions because this is about me!! This is something I am doing for my health and happiness! Who cares what anyone says!?! Be your own fabulous self and OWN that sleeve!

I Hate How People Label Us Wls Patients

I usually find that people who run their mouths like that are really just rude, un-empathectic people talking out the side of their necks! They don't realize or appreciate the incredible amount of COURAGE it takes for someone to change their lives like that! It's not like it's a quick fix! It takes WORK! Shame on them as medical professionals (and I'm using that term loosely) for saying things like that! As for your decision not to tell your co-workers, that is completely ok. It's all about what works for you. I have not had the surgery yet but just about everyone knows that i intend to have it. I have had mixed responses, but most have been incredibly supportive. Personally, I don't care if anyone disapproves of what I'm doing...It's not about them! This is about me being healthy and happy. I see no reason to not be completely open about this kind of thing but that is something to be dealt with on an individual basis and whatever you have decided is perfectly ok! I'm proud of all of us that are being so brave and changing our lives! ...

    Faith Matters! Or Faith Matters?

However much any of us agree or disagree with someone elses views, please don't jump on them for how they feel. Just be understanding. None of us know what has happened to others that makes them feel the way they do. This is not the venue in which to have that kind of debate or conversation. I started the topic to see how much a persons faith guides their decisions regarding this surgery. I find that certain conversations are best done in a one-on-one manner rather than in a public forum... but I do thank everyone for their input!
