  1. Well I wish you luck and hope everything works out ok. Most insurances now a days seem like they are all covering weight loss surgery because in the long run its less medical bills down the road if they do.
  2. I weigh myself every time I walk into the bathroom. I am a bit crazy about weighing myself.
  3. I am 4 1/2 months out. I lost 20lbs before surgery and 90lbs since surgery. Total of 110lbs. I am at the gym or running laps around the park 5-6 times a week.
  4. So here is where I am at. I am at the gym or running around the park 5-6 times a week. I have lost a total of 110lbs and I am 4 1/2 months out. I met with my doctor 2 weeks ago and told me I needed to get more Protein in do to how much I am working out. So they upped my daily protein intake up from 100g-125g to 135g-145g. They also said my blood sugar is low and said to eat more fruit. I also get light headed when standing up to fast. I chalk that up to the low blood sugar but not 100% on that. I have found that when I ate more than I normally did over the weekend I ended up losing 5lbs in 2-3 days like it was nothing. Everyone is different and doctors want everyone to do something different. So its hard to say what to do and when to do it. Good luck

    14 days post surgery

Everyone is different. 22lbs in 14 days is awesome! Thats more than a pound a day. Don't be upset with that. You have to realize you body just went through alot 2 weeks ago and has a ways to go before its fully healed. Once it heals and you can eat more Protein and be able to work out you will noticed more changes. Just because you are not losing weight on the scale doesn't mean you're not doing good. I was one a 3 week stall in that time I didn't lose any weight but dropped a pants size. Hang in there your journey just started you have a bright road a head if you wish to stay on it and do what your doctor tells you to do.
  6. You spent a lot of time and hard work getting to this point why not go to the doctors? I know if I would have skipped I would have never known that I needed more Protein everyday because of my workout plan. I s told at first to get 90-100g in a day now after my 2nd visit I am up to 130-145g a day because I work out very hard and my body needs it. You might not think you need it but you never know what blood work might show or the doctor might tell you based on your diet and exercise.

weigh in #2 didnt go so well

Don't focus on the numbers to much. You are eating the right things is 10x better than fast foods etc. It will come off just have to let you body adjust and help it along by working out, getting your Protein in, and Water in. Also muscle weighs more then fat. Did they take any readings to see if you gain muscle? Also did you BMI drop? you might have gained weight but if your BMI dropped that is also good.

    Omelet (pureed stage)

I skipped me puree stage (I am not say do so) because I just couldn't eat food like that. I went straight to soft food and stuck with egg and other very soft foods and just chewed it very well. I figured I could chew a egg or something else soft to the point it was pureed any way.

    P90x, Insanity, or Rockin Body?

I was walking every day after surgery. Would go to the mall and walk a few laps. I was give the ok to lift after a month. I am now 4 months out and tried insanity and I am no were near were I need to be to do that yet. I have lost 107lbs so far and run every day and lift weights, I lasted about 20 mins into the first tape and all the jumping bothered my knee and just wasnt to the point you need to be to do that.
  12. Before you look into appetite suppressants you might want to try upping your protein. Protein helps with hunger . I don't know what your eating habits were after surgery and now but also try eating more often. I eat every 3 hours and on avg. about 5 times a day. My body no knows tat it will get food every 3 hours and I don't start to feel hungry unless I go over the 3-4 hour mark. Some people eat even 6 times a day. I am not a doctor so I would ask your doctor about this before doing anything. But I feel if you get more protein in and have a fixed eating schedule you will see a difference.
  13. I am on the sire everyday and use my phone a lot. I mostly hang in the chat room but have been posting more and more lately. Would love to test the app out. I have the Galaxy s3 phone.
  14. I can be a few things and yes I have gained weight then lost it in a week. It could be you are not getting enough water in and your body is holding on to whatever can. It could also be that you're gaining muscle. been stuck at the same weight for about 2 weeks now but when I went to the doctors my BMI is down and muscle was up. So everything is still going great. I rather be 255lbs with muscle than 255lbs with fat.
  15. After the first 3 weeks I felt fine and at the 4 week mark was cleared to work out. It's all about how you are going to feel. For me I dont see the issue in doing it few weeks before school.

    I suck...

sorry about the liquid diet. I didnt have to do one after I lost 20lbs before hand. The doctor just said no liquid diet and told me to eat whatever I want before 10pm the day before surgery. That moring I want to IHOP had all you can eat pancakes. then that night I had pizza and hot wings. After surgery I followed everything to a T. in 4 months I lost 85lbs a total of 105lbs. So just because you cheat doesnt mean anyhting in my eyes.

    I suck...

Some habbits are hard to break. Some people cant just turn it off when they need to. If I could just turn off my cravings and feeling hungry all the time I would have just done it and never had surgery. Cutting out soda was like a mini detox for me. I was moody had bad head aches wasnt very nice to be around. After about 2 weeks I was fine havent thought about soda since. My biggest habbit was eating late at night because I work nights. I would get off around 1am and stop at mcdonnalds because i was to tired to go home and cook. I could eat a whole pizza and a foot long sub and be hungry 30mins to a hour later. My stomach was streched out that my doctor said it was about 4 times bigger then a normal stomach.

    I suck...

yes its a big plus. all the extra calories and sugar in soda you are not drinking now. Just cutting that out you will lose weight. Next cut out some fast food try only eating fast food maybe 2 days a week. slowly work you way into it. Quitting everything at once is harder then limiting a little bit at a time to break your habbits.

    I suck...

Calm down. Cheating is fine just stick to it the best you can right now. I cheated the whole time during mine but was able to lose 20lbs just from not drinking soda. After surgery is when you need to control what you eat and its easier with a smaller stomach. Relax just have a cheat day or two. Eat good mon-fri and cheat sat and sunday or something like that. Just cut out small things like soda and big Snacks.
  22. If your doctor doesnt know whats going on you need to tell him. If he does and hes not helping in any way you need to go some where where you can be looked at.

    BCAA during workouts?

So I was at the gym today and I stopped and talked to one of the trainers that about what I should drink during a workout. Right now I drink Isopure during my workouts. He said I should drink BCAA powder. Does anyone use this or know anything about it? Thanks, John

    Working with a Trainer post-op

I was told I could start working out at week 4 after I was cleared. I been hitting the gym and running everyday. No personal trainer for me in the last 4 months. But thinking of doing one to push me a bit more. I am training for the savage race on July 21st here in Maryland.
  25. My total bill was $31,900. I ended up only paying $900. I was so happy thought I was going to pay a lot more.
